Yeti Rambler Bottle - Chug Cap

I received my 26oz Rambler for Christmas and I was so excited. When I think of Yeti, a few things come into mind. Expensive, quality, and innovative. I'm a big believer of you get what you pay for and with the Rambler being about $40, I thought I was receiving a high quality product. Sadly, after a year of using my Rambler, one day the lid detached while I had a full tank of water. I was carrying the Rambler from the handle and while I was coming down some stairs the lid detached from the bottle. The bottle bounced off the stairs receiving some scuffs and a couple of dents. I thought maybe I didn't tighten the lid securely but after looking at the threads I noticed the threads looked damaged. Now when I try to tighten the lid it doesn't fasten securely causing liquid to leak. I'm not sure if I should buy a new lid because I'm afraid this will happen again.

The Cap itself is a handy design, and in my experience it's a bit easier to open than other bottles I've had, plus with the bottle itself it makes it much easier to fill with ice.The handle on the cap makes for easy opening and closing, and the rubber strip that surrounds the "base" portion of the cap (where the chug spout is) also helps with this too. Some bottles and thermoses have designs that make opening and closing somewhat difficult, they're designed in ways that make it harder to grip. It's possible I over tightened it, the design makes it sometimes difficult to really be sure when you reach the level of tightness it should be at.Additionally, it's possible that using the cap as a carrying handle may add additional stress on the threads.I wouldn't change the overall design, save for improving the threading in some way, and maybe selling the bottle with an additional handle that removes strain from the cap. The cap design should stay the same though, the handle (like I said) makes for easy opening and closing, which I like.

The construction of the inner cap is very good. Easy to drink from, easy to refill, nice and sturdy. The outer cap, on the other hand, is disappointing. My original chug cap only lasted 3 months because the soft plastic threads of the outer cap wore down, completely removing the bottle's functionality. If the cap won't stay on enough to stop spills, it certainly won't be secure enough to keep drinks cold. It's disappointing because when the rambler with the chug cap is working, it's a great insulated water bottle for long work days, but because of this one unfortunate design choice it can suddenly fail at its one designed purpose. It was surprisingly easy to get a replacement, for which I'm grateful, but it's still upsetting that I needed a cap replacement at all.
