Good features, poor threading.

The Cap itself is a handy design, and in my experience it's a bit easier to open than other bottles I've had, plus with the bottle itself it makes it much easier to fill with ice.The handle on the cap makes for easy opening and closing, and the rubber strip that surrounds the "base" portion of the cap (where the chug spout is) also helps with this too. Some bottles and thermoses have designs that make opening and closing somewhat difficult, they're designed in ways that make it harder to grip. It's possible I over tightened it, the design makes it sometimes difficult to really be sure when you reach the level of tightness it should be at.Additionally, it's possible that using the cap as a carrying handle may add additional stress on the threads.I wouldn't change the overall design, save for improving the threading in some way, and maybe selling the bottle with an additional handle that removes strain from the cap. The cap design should stay the same though, the handle (like I said) makes for easy opening and closing, which I like.

Great bottle with a design flaw

The construction of the inner cap is very good. Easy to drink from, easy to refill, nice and sturdy. The outer cap, on the other hand, is disappointing. My original chug cap only lasted 3 months because the soft plastic threads of the outer cap wore down, completely removing the bottle's functionality. If the cap won't stay on enough to stop spills, it certainly won't be secure enough to keep drinks cold. It's disappointing because when the rambler with the chug cap is working, it's a great insulated water bottle for long work days, but because of this one unfortunate design choice it can suddenly fail at its one designed purpose. It was surprisingly easy to get a replacement, for which I'm grateful, but it's still upsetting that I needed a cap replacement at all.

My wife just bought me an 18 oz Rambler and a Chug Cap. I will say that I love my Rambler but the Chug Cap has some issues.First issues is that it smells BAD. After looking at Reddit, it seems I wasn't the only person and Yeti told them that it was defective. After reaching out to customer service, I was warrantied a new Chug Cap, hopefully this one doesn't smell awful.Second issue is that when I have ice in it , the chug cap does not stop the flow of the ice tea bagging my face every sip. My wife has the same complaint about the ice hitting her face too when she uses her chug cap. Just my 2 cents.Otherwise, I love all of my Yeti products.

Great product until the lid warps
31 August 2022

Love the chug cap, but needs improvement on how the lid is made. The chug cap makes drinking out of this large bottle easy, as well as easy to carry around. Unfortunately, the top lid only lasts so long. I have had to buy multiple replacements due to the top lid warping, and will no longer screw into the chug cap, so you no longer have a secure beverage, nor can you carry it by the lid. Clearly from reviews this is a problem that multiple ppl are having as well. Yeti needs to upgrade the lid, or have just the lid available as a replacement. I have multiple chug caps without a working lid, as you have to buy the whole 2 piece as a replacement rather than just the lid, which is a waste of money. Love the product until it no longer functions, so I just keep rebuying. ... MoreLove the chug cap, but needs improvement on how the lid is made. Sick of straws and didn't like the big mouth
2 May 2023

This is perfect for me. The big mouth was too big and when driving was just an open invitation to a drenching. Love the straw, but TBH I was sick of them and just wanted to chug water. This is a great solution. having the ability to take off the "bottle top" makes cleaning easy.I was worried about the reviews mentioning the breaking of the top cap, but this is not a concern. The bottle cap has a solid rubberized grip that you can use to tighten it down. Then the top cap is just screwed on with ease and is solidly made. I'm not sure what happened to the folks posting broken top caps, but suspect a champion tug-of-war team pulling on a rope attached to the end of a 10 ft. lever threaded through the cap handhold while the bottle was clamped in a vice may have been ... MoreThis is perfect for me. Soft plastic, threads strip easily.
13 December 2022

As with most reviews here, just tossing mine in to say the threads on this cap are horrible. The plastic for the base of the lid that threads on to the bottle itself is great, hard plastic, no chance of stripping the threads off. The top cap itself, not at all the same type of plastic. Is it a very, very soft plastic. Extremely susceptible to stripping it if you cross-thread it even the slightest bit.Cross-threading a cap is going to happen, it isn't completely avoidable. A cap for a bottle should be resistant to this. A single use, recyclable water bottle has a better cap on it than this thing.I've ruined the threads on my second cap at this point and am done with it. Stay Away
17 April 2023

I am extremely disappointed with my purchase of the Yeti 26oz rambler. Despite my best efforts to thoroughly wash it, the gasket on the lid emits a foul odor that is impossible to ignore. Every time I take a sip of my drink, I am hit with a nauseating smell that ruins the entire experience. For a product that is marketed as being of high quality and durability, I expected better. It is unacceptable that a brand as renowned as Yeti would overlook such a basic flaw in their design. I cannot recommend this product to anyone, and I regret wasting my hard-earned money on something that fails to meet even the most basic standards of functionality. Save yourself the disappointment and choose a different brand or different style.

Stripped lid
7 August 2022

2 stars for the lid. 5 stars for the bottle. I bought the 26 oz Rambler a year ago, and had been very pleased. No leaks for a year. I was fully confident to drop the bottle in a tote bag with work documents. I never over tightened, dishwasher'd, or did anything out of the ordinary to damage my fav bottle. One day last week, the lid wouldn't tighten. Totally stripped. Now the debate of buying a replacement lid, knowing it's destined to fail (UGH I just read all the other similar reviews) or waste a perfectly good insulated bottle. I guess it will occupy space in my cabinet until YETI redesigns the lid, and then I would consider trying again. For the record this is the first YETI product that has ever let me down. Bummer.

Threads broke and my bottle dented!!
29 December 2022

I was SO excited to get my Yet Rambler 1L bottle - I carry a water bottle with me EVERYWHERE I go. My boyfriend surprised me in April of this year (9months ago) with this bottle and I babied it! I took it with me literally EVERYWHERE I went. I was SO SAD today when I put the lid back on after filling it - the threads were completely stripped like other reviewers have said. It just spun! I went back to work; and out of habit - grabbed the bottle by the handle lid, the threads completely broke. Full bottle of water fell to the cement floor and I’m left with a huge dent in the side of my expensive water bottle! Such a bummer. It’s so expensive, you expect better quality construction. Clearly this is an ongoing issue based on the previous reviews. Make the threads on ... MoreI was SO excited to get my Yet Rambler 1L bottle - I carry a water bottle with me EVERYWHERE I go.
