I have used a 1/2 gallon bottle every day for years and decided that I wanted a larger opening and more capacity. The 1 gallon jug seemed perfect. I love everything about it except the lid. If you screw it on tightly enough that it doesn't leak you can't get it off. I'm not the strongest guy in the world but I'm a large man with pretty decent arm strength. The problem is you can't get any leverage. I've tried everything - putting it on a rubber mat, using rubber gloves, using a stick. In another review a guy said it was a 2 person job for he and his wife. I might try that but that isn't practical every day. They need to redesign the lid and possibly wrap the bottle in a material that is grippable. Mine is plain stainless steel, so maybe the colored ones are easier to grip, but the lid is the major problem. You can scan through the reviews and see that many people have the same issue.

Madly in Love With This Thing!

I try to stay pretty hydrated, so I have had so very many water bottles throughout my life, but this is honestly the first water bottle (my son keeps telling me it's not a bottle, it's a jug) that I still get excited about using. Doesn't that sound ridiculous? Getting excited about a water bottle (sorry, jug)?I hemmed and hawed over this thing because of the size. This is NOT going to fit in your cupholder. People WILL make comments on it if you bring it into a meeting. I have made peace with this and now totally own the fact that it looks like I'm carrying some sort of hybrid kettelbell lantern.I chose this bottle because of the giant opening. I hated how I couldn't easily clean other water bottles. One of them even had little bits of mold growing inside. I hated how I couldn't easily clean other water bottles. One of them even had little bits of mold growing inside. This opening is huge! You can easily see and clean the inside. Some people in the comments stated that they had trouble opening it. It isn't the easiest bottle to open, I'll admit, but I'm able to open it by performing a one-arm hug on it and twisting the handle with the other hand. The magnetic cap! That deserves its own paragraph. I have lost track of how many conversations I've started with "Check out what this water bottle does!" in the past month before unscrewing the cap and flinging it at the lid just to have it snap into place. It's an absolutely brilliant design! The size of the opening that the cap houses is great because it funnels the water into my mouth and not all over my mouth, which happened all of the time with other water bottles. All I can say is that if you're on the fence about getting this, get off the fence. Get it! If something happened to mine, I wouldn't delay one moment before I ordered another one. Best water bottle (jug), ever!

Needed warranty replacement for leaky seal
30 June 2022

Purchased an Alpine Yellow at a local yeti dealer, got it home and filled it, and it leaked badly. After trying to screw the lid on tighter, it got to the point where it took Herculean strength to get it off, and even when super tight, it still dribbled water down my shirt. So I filed a warranty claim with Yeti and sent that one back and received a replacement. Thankfully, the new one does not suffer the same problem, though I have seen stories of others who weren’t so lucky.I have tons of Rambler bottles and love them all and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them. Except for this one, I’d say probably look around for something else if you need a jug this size. Can’t deny it looks great and now that I got a replacement, I like it. Portable cold water for hot summer days
13 December 2022

Some summer days at my job teaching outdoor nature programs, it's 90 degrees or more, and on those days I love having lots of cold water with me (even though it makes the kids jealous). Put some ice cubs in this baby and fill it up and I've got my cold water all day, even if I refill! Love the Alpine Yellow color, which matches my Yeti lunchbox and 26 oz Rambler bottle. I haven't had any issues with drinking out of it or the lid leaking. I love the magnetic docking spot for the cap, and I love the design of the lid because it doesn't have any hard-to-clean mechanisms or straws or whatever. Just a hole/spout with a simple screw cap -- which like I said, is magnetic! And even if I lost it, looks like Yeti (currently) sells replacements. Pure frustration
27 November 2022

I love all of my YETI products, except this one. My rambler, water bottle, can insulator and cooler are FANTASTIC, but the gallon jug is just pure frustration. It’s well built, the magnet for the cap is brilliant and it genuinely keeps things cold. Where this jug fails is the lid. Put the lid on as tight as you can and wait an hour to pour and you’ll leak all over the place. Tighten the lid before pouring and you’ll stay dry, but good luck getting the lid off at the end of your day. The lid becomes nearly impossible to remove under most circumstances. My wife and I use rubber gloves to get enough grip and it’s a two person job with an alarming amount of muscle to get the lid off. In fact that’s what I’m going to do for Christmas and retire this jug, which really has just been a sad waste of my money.

Save Your Coin for Your Witcher

Up until this gallon jug, I had resisted the urge to splurge on Yeti brand products. My resolve finally weakened after a hike that left myself and my doggo parched with hot-car temperature water. I snagged this jug in Alpine Yellow from my local farm store as they had it on sale. I have had this jug for less than month and I am here to tel you, THE SAVINGS IS NOT WORTH THE HEADACHE.Pros: 1) Does, in fact hold a gallon and keep it chill. 2) Pretty (yellow is my fave color).Cons: 1) It really doesn't matter how cold this keeps your beverage if you can't get into it. Unless you are secretly the Incredible Hulk, don't expect to get the lid off/on gracefully or even maybe at all. To prevent this piece of absolute crap from leaking, I have to grip the bottle itself ... MoreUp until this gallon jug, I had resisted the urge to splurge on Yeti brand products. Unless you are secretly the Incredible Hulk, don't expect to get the lid off/on gracefully or even maybe at all. To prevent this piece of absolute crap from leaking, I have to grip the bottle itself between my not inconsiderable thighs (tip: wear shorts for maximum grip!) and put all my arm strength into wrenching the lid TIIIIGHT. Same process in reverse for lid removal. It is very possible you'll only be able to use it once and never, ever be able to get into again.- 1a) Also, the lid doesn't like to thread evenly. I can spend a good 5-10 minutes attempting to delicately finagle the lid before actually getting a level thread. Requires the patience of a saint, which I can assure you, I do not posses.2) Yeah, the little bitty cap is magnetic, but if you drop it down into the foul underneath of your car seats before you actually make it to the corresponding magnetic dent, don't expect to see it again. Too much trouble to somehow tether the cap to the jug Yeti?3) There is no vent. When I pour water out of this, it glugs and splashes, and generally quenches the thirst of everything around it. Good thing my counter needed watered....4) Once you take off the lid, there is. no. handle. on. the. jug. Now, I'd like to think I'm a slightly above-average-in-strength lady, but standing at the outdoor water spigot, trying to juggle a filling, handle-less gallon jug should get me some kind of circus qualification.Long story short, in my opinion, save your coin for your Witcher. Or at least find one secondhand and less expensive, so when you are inevitably disappointed, you're not out such a large chunk of cash. Will not be purchasing any more Yeti products in the future.

It will hold the cold for a couple of days, unless your like me and drink a gallon a day.I have read some reviews before buying that statated that the jug top is hard to screw on, and honestly, I have had some times where it takes me 3 times to get it right, not a deal breaker for me at all. Also that the jug is hard to open if you over tighten it, that the magnetic cap can be lost, and that the handle should be on the jug and not the top. These are not issues I've had with the jug, but other people have. I find this jug amazing and the color is Alpine Yellow is gorgeous! So keep these things in mind when thinking on purchasing this jug as when writing this, it was about $140 plus tax.I give the Yeti Rambler 1 Gallon Jug 5 stars as the Pros far outweigh others people's cons for my situation.
