A big hit, but some improvement still possible.
This is the Yeti I’ve been waiting for: it has a handle!! I’ve got the rambler 26 Oz with the chug cap and other knock-off brands with handles (which the ice melts overnight.) I have RA, so opening and closing the chug cap was becoming a problem (especially if my hubs closed it last!) This is fabulous. With the handle, I feel like I have a better grip on it than before. The lid has “grippy” edges to make unscrewing (yay!!!) the lid easier. The mag-lock slider is improved from the one on my husbands 16 Oz rambler he takes for his daily coffee.Drawbacks: the handle is a *tiny* bit smaller than I’d like, although I’m not sure it’s a design flaw or one to make it a universal fit for all car cup holders. I can’t get my fingers into the handle far enough to make this work/comfortable. I know most others use it with their fingers through the handle with their thumb bracing the top, but I’m just not capable of that any more.I don’t know if it’s possible, but a insulating lid, rather than acrylic, would help me keep my water cooler for longer in these 100 degree days.Love the color. Love the engraving (first time I’ve ever been able to have my name - spelled correctly! - on something I use. I’m just waiting to see how long I can hold off buying another!!... Show more

A leaky mess. Stronghold needs a serious rethink.
For keeping your drink at temperature, this is a great mug. For keeping your drink INSIDE the cup? Not so much.I got this based on the “leak resistant” wording, in the belief that it would suit my klutzy, outdoors and constantly on the go life- chuck the empty cup in my bag, and I’d have no need to worry about that last tiny drizzle talking out my laptop. Put it beside me on a chair or bench, and have plenty of time to right it before the papers it’s fallen onto are drenched beyond repair?Unfortunately, not quite. If the slider is closed, it loses around 3-5ml/second from under the slider itself. That’s the opposite of leak resistant. Having pulled it apart and adjusted the gaskets, it’s pretty clear that the leaking comes down to two poor design choices. ... That’s the opposite of leak resistant. Having pulled it apart and adjusted the gaskets, it’s pretty clear that the leaking comes down to two poor design choices. Firstly, having channels on both sides of the lower slider completely negates any benefit from the gasket. Could easily be fixed by filling that side in on the master molds. On the upper, a gasketed lip of 1-2mm designed to fit the spout would provide some further protection.Highly disappointed at just how close this came to being exactly what I needed, and yet it landed so far away as to have been a detriment. Here’s hoping that the slider is updated quickly, and replacements offered to everyone who’s purchased under the premise of some protection from leaks.... A leap forward but......
I do like this travel mug, I really want to love it, that said it falls short in a couple of areas.1) It does not fit in my cup holder. Mine is no bigger than a standard can, and it really doesn't fit in there, its close, but yeah not close enough, one pothole and it wants to escape. If you have an older vehicle you may run into the same issues, especially if its from a Japanese manufacture.2) The lid, its awesome, it really is, but needs to have more tactile bits to enable you to open and close it. Having them only opposite the opening just isnt good enough, it makes it harder to open not easier. If it had it on the left and right sides as well it would work a lot better especially when you use just 1 hand to open and close the lid.3) The mag slider needs ... I have a number of the mag sliders, and because its black on black you really have to look at the slider to tell the difference, otherwise just look at the bottom or use your fingers to tell the difference, just wish it was easier to tell visually apart from a standard mag slider is all.The new screw top is great, it really is, and the design of the new mag slider is remarkable to say the least. The fact that it only needs a 1/4 turn to secure the lid and allows for both left and right handed drinkers is heavenly.... Show more

I HATE this lid.
This was a gift from my husband for Christmas 2021. I love the personalization and the fact that that it keeps my drinks hot or cold, as long as I need it too. With that being said, I'd like to point out something I hate about it too. First, if you have big hand like me, this is a three finger handle not four and takes some getting used to. Then, there is the hole where you drink from which you can only sip from, no gulps. I take coffee to work in this, I work 10 hours, if I don't completely disassemble this lid to rinse thoroughly before it waits the rest of the day to get home,it's slimey and nasty. I have to take all the seals off to rinse or there is slime in the threads by the end of the day. Also the removable seal I didn't realize was removable(bottom piece ... I have to take all the seals off to rinse or there is slime in the threads by the end of the day. Also the removable seal I didn't realize was removable(bottom piece of the magnetic flipper) until I was trying to clean build-up from the crack between the rubber and plastic and the seal slipped over the corner exposing a sheet of gross old coffee that had gotten caught in between. And what's with that little space inside just under the drink hole, I have to use a toothbrush to get all the buildup out of there. I'm not talking about letting it sit for days or weeks, I'm talking about every day I have to remove all rubber seals and clean extensively. So make sure to stay near clean running water or you'll only be able to use it one day. I own two of these cups and both lids are the same, I wish yeti would replace them, just horrible design. Considering going back to my cheap Walmart cup because there are no hidden spots to catch buildup without noticing and I could get a decent size drink quickly without waiting for it to dribble out.... Love the handle!
I love this handled cup. I wish now that all my tumblers had handles!!Like other reviewers, I’m not a fan of the lid… HOWEVER, I’d love to know what y’all are doing to make your drinks leak out of this thing. When you put on the lid correctly, that sucker is on there tight! I closed the magslider and held my cup upside down over the sink for a full 60 seconds: no leaks. I personally wouldn’t be putting my cup full of liquid in a place where it’s going to fall over and be left alone for minutes-hours to possible leak anyhow ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ my issue with the lid comes from it not being interchangeable with others I have/not being able to use different colored magsliders (I like flair, okay). If yeti did more clearance of colors being retired + free customization I’d be in big trouble, ha!Overall a great product! How will I ever go back to my handleless tumblers?!... Show more

Love the tumbler hate the lid
The tumbler I have was purchased at Lowe's online for my birthday. Now I've had it long enough to form an opinion of it.I share the opinion of a good majority of the reviews about the lid. It's great that it seals so well. I've filled it up with ice and water, turned the cup upside down, and nothing leaked out. However, that same feature makes it hard to drink out of. The vent hole, that is exposed when the magslider is opened, is so tiny that it only allows a limited amount of liquid through, like a sippy cup, which is frustrating when I want to chug some ice cold water. At the same time, the vent hole is easily blocked by the ice which restricts the flow even more.On top of that, it is not friendly to straws at all.Yeti needs to pay attention to these reviews ... Since nobody in their right mind likes to chug hot coffee (or hot chocolate) maybe this lid is just right for what they need. But I for one would like to have a non-sippy cup, straw friendly lid. With that being said, I really like my new Yeti tumbler. It's no lie that it keeps things cold. I filled it up with ice and water and then later on I ran out of water because the ice wasn't melting as fast. Now I have to remember not to put so much ice in it because I don't need to.... Show more

One good feature, two poor features
First, the good - the built-in handle is very nice, does not stick out as far as the add on handle on the 30 oz. Rambler mug. Second - the bad. The new Stonghold lid misses the mark regarding the amount of liquid coming out. As a person who likes his coffee, the amount of liquid coming out is much less than the original Rambler with the Mad slide lid (you can see the difference in the hole sizes when comparing). The locking feature is nice, but the size of the air holes/channels also contributes to less volume. Hopefully, there is a Stronghold lid version 2 being engineered Third - even worse. With the height of this new mug being taller than the other 30oz Rambler, it does not fit under the Keurig stand even with the catch tray taken out. So now, the coffee has to ... And over years of use they[re stretching out and will need to be replaced. I made the mistake of not removing the handle attachment on my first yeti and it has a nasty ring not quite rust but it’s stained and doesn’t look good. When I went to wash it before using it I was surprised by the lid redesign and it twisting off and the mouth piece being multiple pieces. My first time using this rambler I was disappointed in how little liquid actually came out while drinking. The redesign of the mouth piece allow for very little liquid to come through. When you’re thirsty that is a huge con. But my other disappointment was I’m the handle. With the cup being bigger and heavier the size and shape of the handle to me is not comfortable. The handle attachment is more ergonomically shaped and is easier/more comfortable to pick up and hold. I will say that the one plus on the lid redesign is I do feel that it is more leak proof than the previous one. I also think that it might keep my drinks cold longer than the previous design. While I appreciate that it has more leak proof I will go back and by the original style rambler and handle attachment.... Show more

The coffee taste a lot better than my old mug
I used it for a few weeks. It has a superior isolation. The magnet open/close tab is genial, so easy to remove and clean. I was wondering if the black lid of my previous stainless steel coffee mud, quite old but I didn't use it until two years ago, was responsible for the coffee not tasting so great, it was.The transparent lid gives a lot more confidence than a black lid, at least for the old one I was drinking from. It fits perfectly in the cup holder of my car, unlike my previous one, but it was not an issue anyway. Expensive but this is a quality product. The only drawback is that it takes 15 minutes to go to work and I stay in my car listening to music for another 20 minutes drinking my coffee. Don't put too hot water in it, even without the lid, it takes forever to remove the heat. When I finish work and the cup was exposed all day in a hot sunny day, the remaining coffee, because I don't have the time to drink it all in the morning in my car, is very hot and still very good. I want to point out this because with my previous mud, the coffee was not so good, but it gave me a hint about the black lid being responsible, since the mug was in stainless steel, it was.It takes two seconds to remove the magnet tab and to clean the lid. I do it once a week and it is not dirty because I rinse the mug and the lid before putting coffee in it in the morning. I just slide the magnet tab while rinsing it and I don't bother. If there is dirt, it would be easy to see with the transparent lid. It never happened to me but i check while rinsing or drinking. So, the transparent lid, the sliding magnet tab and the quality of the lid not changing the taste of the coffee are the main points. The fact that I said superior isolation is not so important to me but it could for people who travel.... Show more

The ice in my water doesn't melt overnight!
Impressed with all my Yeti products, so I was a little disappointed with this 30 oz mug. It took a while to get used to it but after learning how to drink from it (does anyone find it hard to believe that I had to learn to drink from a mug!?!), I use it regularly from waking to sleeping. It keeps my ice water cold all day - I refill it three to four times a day. The stronghold lid is exactly that (so far) - strong. It is advertised not to be leakproof, but my experience has been that it IS leakproof. When I accidentally knock it over, and the magslider is closed, my drinks have not spilled at all.I learned that the secret is not to overfill it! When I accidentally knock it over, and the magslider is closed, my drinks have not spilled at all.I learned that the secret is not to overfill it! There has to be some space between the lid and the ice for the lid to seal properly. And most importantly, the liquid inside cannot be overfilled, lest the lid touches the liquid before the lid is screwed on. When the lid is screwed on and moves into place, the volume of liquid displaced by the lid apparently moves into the threads between the lid and mug and when you take a drink, allows the liquid to migrate thru the threads, between the lid and mug, around your lower lip, down your chin and onto your shirt, as so many have complained. My experience has been that after that volume of liquid has been absorbed by your shirt, the leakage stops.Another common complaint is the slow flow of the drink passing thru the lid. I agree with this complaint, but I have not experienced any leakage when turning the mug upside-down to try to increase the flow of my drink. My only "success" in increasing the drink flow has been to drink normally and touch my upper lip to the magslider so that the liquid passing thru the opening seems to flow faster - but maybe that's just my imagination.Nevertheless I am impressed with this mug and will continue to use (and not abuse) it! I also like that the shape of the mug fits into my car's cupholders so I can easily reach it and put it back.... Show more
