I originally said this was a good lens. I went back and did Microadjustment on the lens going to -8. What an improvement. I went out in the garage and took 2 pictures of the barcode on a box of Grip Rite screws from Lowes at 6 feet, that barcode square is about 1.3 inch by 1.25 inch. One with the adjustment and one without the adjustment. Poor lighting, tripod, same exposure, fully open f1.8 on both. I uploaded the photos to my phone and then I cropped down to just the barcode using the Lightroom app. Hopefully you can see how the one with no adjustments is a bit fuzzy, and the one with adjustment you can make out the numbers and bars. Im not saying go -8 in your camera, it may be different, but it might be worth a try.

I bought this lens as the first expansion beyond the kit lenses that came with my Canon Rebel T6i. The “nifty fifty” focal length comes highly recommended due to its fast aperture and affordable price, even in the Canon variant. But for me, saving an extra hundred bucks by going for the Yongnuo version was worth the possible drop in quality.Overall, the lens is great. Nice, fast 1.8 aperture allows for fast shutter speeds, and while it’s not the absolute sharpest lens out there, it is perfect for someone that is expanding into fast primes for the first time. Firstly the images can be crisp and sharp and i'm still using the one I purchased around 3 years ago. I take on board that for the money your going to get some Chromatic aberration. What is a pain in the neck lets say you have this on auto and you want to focus the lens, It tends to just zip past that focus opint you want, so if you do not mind doing this manually then your good to go. I also have a genuine Canon lens similar so always have one fitted to either of my cameras. Really, if ya can't afford the Canon lens this will do for the moment, I must admit i get some really good shots with this lens. If you plan to use this for recording short films or YouTube videos I highly recommend saving up for the “nifty fifty” or 50mm f1.8 canon stm lens. Why? because the yongnuo auto focus is extremely loud and a lot slower than the canon lens. This can ruin the sound quality of your video. This 50mm lens has a very wide aperture (aka fast) f/1.8@50mm at a great price.This has allowed me to take cool pictures in low light situations (like haloween & XMAS decorations) at a shutter speed where you do not need a tripod (1/10sec). Note you must change your cameras ISO to around 4000 to do this but at least on the D5600 the pictures are not too grainy at this setting.The other cool thing about a fast lense like this is you can take nice pictures of birds that freezes there wings (and other motion in flight) as you can still get good exposures during the day at 1/1000sec without a speed light.Many other unique things can be done with a fast lense like this.On the D5X00 series cameras this 50mm ... MoreFor those not too familar with photography principles. Autofocus seems surprisingly accurate, but there's no "perfect" one, so that's not a problem. Also manual focus to switch for, but it's not full-time like in some Canon's models - even in the past already back in 90's. Bang for buck, there is no better large aperture 50mm lens. This was LESS THAN HALF THE PRICE of the basic *brand name of my camera* version. Is it half as good? Much better than just half. Do the more expensive 50mm lenses make sharper images? Yes, if you're a pixel peeper. But good luck picking the difference between the two once the images are uploaded somewhere, without downloading the source image and going right in there looking for faults. And if you do that you'll find the $1500 lenses aren't perfect either. And I don't feel as worried about this getting knocked around in my camera bag so it gets used more.
