I bought these to bring with me to the Miami Grand Prix. Knowing I would be tromping around in the scorching heat for several hours I did not want a heavy pair of binoculars around my neck. These are a great choice for portability, weight, and pro imaging. As a reminder, the 8 refers to magnification, the 32 is the front lens diameter, which determines brightness. If you are just beginning to explore good binoculars, remember that when you boost the magnification, to say a 10 or more, you are also significantly increasing lens shake and will give yourself a good headache after a short time trying to study a jumpy image. I think these are a great compromise of weight and magnification, and deliver a nice crisp image as you would expect from Zeiss. I saw a few reviews of this pair online as I was researching. Several of the reviewers indicated that they do not come with a case, so I bought an after market case and cleaning tools from B/H. Didn't need it. These binoculars DO come with a clam shell case, and front and rear caps that attached to the neck strap so you never lose them.

Zeiss- perhaps the best known name for lenses (often cameras) is evident in these fantastic binoculars. I realized my frustration with most binocs was that I needed a dioptic capability (individual eye adjustment); without glasses I need to adjust each eye a bit differently & these allow you to do that. I was hoping for a bit smaller pair (concerts more than outdoor activities), but these are just so clear & crisp it's worth carrying them anywhere (more large purse / bucket bag than clutch size). The other comfort fit (a must in choosing a pair) is ability to adjust the 'width, folding from the center to fit width/distance between your eyes. Delighted, retire your heavy binocs & enjoy these!

Bought these last August for birdwatching. The quality is good, and I have been able to take pictures through the lens for university projects. They work well at twilight and dusk also. I also use them at night for viewing the night sky and have been very pleased. I was able to see Comet ZTF through them.

I bought these compact 8x32 binoculars for use while canoeing. They are light, yet don't feel wimpy, are nice and solid and stay where you adjust them. The focusing knob offers more resistance than in the larger Zeiss Conquest binoculars, but it is not a problem. The glass is excellent; almost as good as the 8x42 Zeiss Conquest mid-sized binoculars that I use for everyday birding. I have a waterproof Filson bag that holds my Olympus gear and these binoculars and keeps both with handy reach on the floor of the canoe and keeps my hands and neck free of distracting straps. An added bonus is their small size allows them to be carried in a fanny pack, while birding and photographing in the field.
I have been a birder since my 20's (I'm in my 60's now) and have owned my fair share of binoculars over the years. I always have a pair with me when outdoors hiking, bike riding, or doing any sort of photography. Zeiss binoculars have long been my go to binoculars since I got the 10x40 B/GA Telyt model about 35 years ago. In more recent years the Zeiss Victory 10x42 (the first SF version) have been my main binoculars. Other binoculars I've owned that have come and gone include Nikon Monarchs and Eagle Optics. My Victory binos had to be sent back to Germany for repair and my old Telyt binoculars had to get realigned, so I was left without any binoculars at all for a while and took a chance on these. I am very, very pleased with these Terra 10x42's. I love their compact size. They are bright and clear and focus very closely making them great for insects and wildflowers as well as birds. They focus easily and can be used one handed when necessary. Chromatic aberrations are very well controlled and not an issue in most viewing situations. These are great user binoculars and really are much better and more user friendly than the best binoculars 30 years ago. While I don't have my Victory 10x42's on hand right now to make a direct comparison, I'm sure I won't miss any warblers this fall because I'm using the Terras instead. These are a great value for the price. While more expensive binoculars are nice, these are all that most people really need. Even when I get my Victory binos back, I will continue to use these regularly. I'm very happy with this purchase.
Needed something small and light for my daily hike along the river or out in the woods. I could even add them to my pack when out mountain biking. I love stopping at viewpoints and looking around. Pros: smooth and tight eye cups and focus knob. I've given up on less expensive binoculars as the focus knob is often so loose that a slight touch sets it off focus - very irritating me as I'm constantly refocusing instead of looking at the views. I'm am very happy with Zeiss secure focus. Shott ED glass is a real plus. The case is fully zippered with an additional clasp for extra safety. Strap and protective caps are good quality and easy to use. They are excellent looking binos in the grey/black and even the box for Terra ED is nice. To provide a context, I am not a nature enthusiast or a bird watcher. The primary mission of this binocular for me is work / security related. One of the requirements I had is to get an binocular that enables me to detect a half exposed head of a person peaking out from behind a tree or some other concealment at 500m. From my testing on the field, it seems that 500m is no problem, and this can do it up to 700~800m, or even over 1000m under good lighting conditions.I can read car license plate up to about 150m hand held, and I was able to easily read license plates beyond 200m using a tripod.Color rendering appears neutral, which I like. However, it does appear slight gray tone when looking at objects at distance. However, it does appear slight gray tone when looking at objects at distance. Not as vivid as my Zeiss Victory SF, but acceptable for what I need it for.For 500m and in, sharpness is good. For looking at farther distance, it shows that it is not as sharp as Victory SF. However, other than looking less pretty, I had no problem recognizing human or smaller sized objects to 1000m and beyond.I bought the apparently less popular 32mm objective model because of the size. I wish it was smaller and lighter, but this still is the smallest and lightest compared to Conquest or Victory, and other brands appears to offer either something bigger with similar quality or something smaller but with less performance.I do not have enough time or money to buy each one and do a comparison, but according to reviews by youtubers like Optica Exotica, Vortex Diamondback appears to be very similar in performance when it comes to center clarity while losing edge to edge clarity. However, that was unacceptable for me, because I may have to scan an area with my binocular, so most of the view area needs to be clear and sharp, even if it means paying a lot more for it. In that aspect, for a 32mm at 10 power, scanning an area was okay with this. I do have a Terra 10x25, but too narrow field of view was just too uncomfortable for area scanning which was what prompted me to be interested in this model.I did not expect much low light performance from 10x32, but it does enhance my visibility in dusk right after sunset.Focus wheel is very good for the class. It is quick focus type, which is not my preference. I wish it was more fine focus type, even if it meant turning more to get focus. However, for the type that it is, focusing was not overly difficult. However, there appears to be a very slight freeplay. Combined with the fact that it is a quick focus type, I did have to fiddle with it just a bit to get a fine focus. Just a lot less fiddling compared to cheaper optics I used before.Binocular is not one of just few gears like it appears to be for people who walk around with nothing other than just a binocular and a water bottle, etc. For me, it is one of many gears I have to manage. And, for now, the size and weight does not appear to be too burdensome for me to have to actively load manage like a full size binocular.
I bought these binoculars several years ago, not very quick to write a review. I am a commercial photographer. I have worked with lenses for over 50 years and this is some of the best glass I have ever used. I compare these in reach to a 600mm lens. The contrast is amazing in daylight and really good right up to darkness. They are light and easy to carry and use. I wear glasses and have had no trouble viewing through them with my glasses on. Excellent binoculars in my opinion.
I lost my trusty Zeiss 10X42 Terras one night getting into a skiff on an exposed rocky beach during a full moon minus tide shoot. They were superb, and were actually a second brand new updated model in place of my original which i’d sent in for repair after a long drop off a cliff. (For free, because that’s Zeiss.)What i didnt realize until getting their smaller objective diameter model was there was no appreciable difference (for my purposes) in optical performance between the 10X42mm and the 10X32mm except weight and size.Same performance but a smaller and lighter package hanging from my neck all day? YEAH, I’ll take THAT one (in a heartbeat!) Exit Pupils notwithstanding, I find there’s no meaningful difference in most viewing conditions.
These binoculars are probably a good value for the price. They seem to be well built, and glass quality is good, but obviously not as good as the higher priced Zeiss binos. My biggest issue is the focus adjustment. It is very coarse, meaning that moving the focus adjuster ring even a tiny bit one way or the other, and the image is blurry.
