My pup had abdominal surgery the other day to clean out her stomach of badness after she got into the garbage :(The plastic Elizabethan Collar (Lampshade/E-Collar) that was provided by my vet did the job, but she had such a hard time functioning with it on. She wouldn't walk unless it was ABSOLUTELY necessary, and if she got stuck, she would just stay there until we'd see and help her.The soft collar not only fits her better and is a more appropriate length, but it also doesn't restrict her nearly as much if she finds herself in a jam. She might need some encouragement, or a quick hand, but she is overall more capable of getting herself out of it. She also can go outside for a potty wearing it, and if we take it off she doesn't fight us when we try to put it ... MoreMy pup had abdominal surgery the other day to clean out her stomach of badness after she got into the garbage :(The plastic Elizabethan Collar (Lampshade/E-Collar) that was provided by my vet did the job, but she had such a hard time functioning with it on. The last point is specifically important because she has a very long neck and a small head in comparison to her body.

My dog had surgery on his paw and has to wear a cone for 7 days. The one from the vet had plastic loops to connect to the collar. He has had a very difficult time getting comfortable and seeing around since the plastic wasn't really clear. I saw this online and bought it to see if it would help. I don't think any cone would be ideal but I have to say that this works out a lot better than the other cone. It took him a moment to get used to the fabric parts and ran into some items during that time. I don't love that it doesn't keep a round shape and just falls on his head while lying down, however, it's flexible fit allows for more movement when he lays next to an object, or me. I think it fits comfortably around the neck. He seems much more comfortable and able to ... MoreMy dog had surgery on his paw and has to wear a cone for 7 days. I bought two of these products this week for my dog who’s neck is about 18inches. The company’s site recommends to size up if your pet is between sizes which he is between L/XL... this may not be the best option for all. In the size Large my dog had the right fit to see and function normally BUT he could still lick his leg, which was the whole reason for the cone. With the size XL it just barely velcros around his neck and he can’t do much because the top of the cone flops into his eyes constantly. This is still the best option over a traditional cone which is why this got a 3 and not a 1/5. The other issue I have with it is that it should have snaps instead of Velcro. Our dog isn’t particularly sensitive to sounds but the Velcro is right next to his ears and he’s ... MoreI bought two of these products this week for my dog who’s neck is about 18inches. I’d love a better version of this maybe a large that extends a little past 18 inches or maybe even a size L/XL. Honestly I would’ve returned the product if he didn’t get hair all over the velcro on both of them. Maybe if your pet is between sizes shop around for something else.

My two goldendoodle puppies were spayed and neutered yesterday. For some reason, they weren’t sent home with e-collars and my husband didn’t realize it. I was so glad that I could order it from Petco and have it delivered to my home. The male puppy was trying to get his sutures out so I put on an old e collar that was the rigid plastic he hated it. .This is much better than a rigid one. He can drink easily, lay down easily, he doesn’t get caught on things and despite the look of misery on his face this is less than it was before. The velcro is strong and allows you to adjust it to your dogs size. Make sure you do the measurements.I would have definitely ordered one that was too small.
Our spayed rescue puppy panicked every time the vet supplied hard collar caught on doorways etc. It also would not permit her to go into her crate. The Zen collar was a great solution for us. When the Zen Collar catches on something, it flexes and permits our rescue puppy to continue on her way without panicking. Although the size Zen collar we got was the same depth as the hard collar, the effective length is a little less since her Zen collar has elastic not rigid loops. We have noticed the Zen collar does remain rigid enough to block our puppy's access to her stitches, but we are watching her to ensure that she does not find a way around it. We bought another collar with a snap closure to feed through the Zen collar loops to make it easy to remove when needed.
Bought this to replace a cone given at the ER for my pup who needed sutures after a facial laceration. The vet cone caused her to not want to move due to the lack of peripheral vision, but this cone was great. Although it is a slight bit short, she has her peripheral vision and the flexibility is great. With the other cone, she just stood still like she was paralyzed and if she bumped into something, she would hang her down and just look sad. With this cone, she can bump the corner and still keep going like nothing happened. She will put her head down to sleep. She even took off running after a squirrel and started playing with her brother like she wasn’t hurt. It’s like she forgot she was in a cone. The slight decrease in length allowed her to drink and eat with ... MoreBought this to replace a cone given at the ER for my pup who needed sutures after a facial laceration. Coming home with the plastic cone from the vet…we had high hopes! 4 hours later and it being completely split in 2 from doggo battering ram…we decided we needed something more durable and safe (for everyone)This cone is absolutely perfect. It’s long enough he can’t bypass its main purpose…its rests sturdy yet gives softly to ensure both items in your home and doggo are kept safe from potential shenanigans. Please note: it was not the vet cone’s fault my puppy likes to party. He can just party with this cone a little easier.PS it does smell bad
One of my dogs had to have a procedure done on his hip earlier this week. The vet sent him home wearing a huge plastic cone because it's essential he doesn't lick or chew the area for 10 days. He absolutely hated the hard cone...when we got home, he froze up, started shaking and refuse to move unless he had to. I tried an inflatable ring, but because he's so tall and lanky, he was able to easily bend and get to his hip. It was completely useless.I found this soft cone and purchased the XL. It's worked perfectly. As others have stated, the cone does not stay stiff like the pictures (especially the XL)...it does flop over, especially when they're lying down. When he's up and walking around, it rests on his head a little (it looks like an old lady's floppy hat), but ... MoreOne of my dogs had to have a procedure done on his hip earlier this week. When he's up and walking around, it rests on his head a little (it looks like an old lady's floppy hat), but he can easily see in front of him and the clear plastic sides allow him to look around. He doesn't mind wearing it at all.I think it comes down to the personality of the dog. This particular dog is super chill and doesn't mind really anything. My other dog probably wouldn't tolerate it being floppy. I'd recommend at least giving it a try...it's been a game changer for me.
I bought this when my sons husky got spayed at age 2. She didn’t like the plastic one we got from the vet and was bumping into everyone and it’s so jolting because they are hard plastic. This Zen one worked perfectly for her! She was much more comfortable and when she bumped into things it has some give. She could see out the clear windows which was nice too. She has a long nose and still was not able to reach her incision. My other sons dog (cattle dog mix) had an issue with his skin around the same time and got a bad hot spot so he needed to wear a cone for awhile. She tolerated this cone very well and did not like the plastic one.So overall I say it’s worth a shot. I personally love this one, it’s easy to wash, easy to put on and take off you just weave their own collar through the straps and close it up with the Velcro. Just an FYI the round donut looking collar doesn’t work. We tried that as well and the husky was able to reach her incision so if you’re debating on that type or this one, definitely go with this one.
This cone gave my dog her sense of freedom back. After having a bad injury to her eye our vet wanted to keep a cone on her since she kept trying to scratch her eye. She was miserable in the traditional cone that we were sent home with. She wouldn’t move and just couldn’t get comfortable at all. I immediately went to Petco in search of another cone and found this one. I’m SO glad I got it. It’s sturdy enough to provide protection but flexible enough so she could get comfortable and sleep in it. It has clear spots too so she could still see from her peripheral vision. So glad I have this cone if I ever need it again in the future.
