Zippo Black Matte Logo Lighter

I have always loved zippo lighters. This lighter is no different, the price is great mainly cause I am in Canada and the price for this lighter is over 35 bucks here and even with conversion and shipping it came out to cheaper then buying it here. Zippos always work great and this is no different. I like the matte color (I got the red) and so far it is standing up to wear and tear. Thanks Massdrop for the awesome price.

I've had the iridescent zippo for a little while now, and I feel like the finish does get better with age. The teal logo has partially chipped off due to wear but I use this lighter constantly with the butane insert. It's a nice thick coat and the iridescent seems more obvious with age versus when I got it.

Ordered two Zippos and two butane inserts from the Drop. One case is perfect and one butane insert is perfect. The other case is loose to the point where inserts come out when you're trying to close it (a bit of tape around the insert fixed this by giving it *just* a bit more girth). The second insert *barely* works, letting out less gas than a typical Bic lighter. I would legit pay 2x more a more premium Zippo experience with flawless inserts and precision made cases but I don't understand why the don't have a Zippo+ line that you can count on for perfection that you *sometimes* get out of Zippo. Iridescent color is nice but not as colorful as pictured.

Butane insert to me seeemd easier than fuel and the maintaince with that. However the butane insert lost its spark after about six months. Maybe less. I tried to get it warrantied by zippo on their site since they offer a two year warranty. No response. I’m not trying drop but I’ll likely get a corporate response that talks to me like a child with a four paragraph response that could be replaced with “no we don’t don’t bother with warranties. Enjoy!”

Zippo case is already losing paint from minimal use. Loose hinge and the butane insert is defective and Brett from Drop says it can't be refunded because he can't see any defects from pictures (how could you if it's internal?). I've spent over $2000 on this site over the years. This is the poorest customer service and ignorance I've dealt with in a while. Seriously you could have just replaced a faulty lighter for under $20 like a good company which you obviously aren't anymore.

I feel stupid for purchasing this from Massdrop. I paid $17.74 for it when it was available on Amazon and waited three weeks for it to come. Every time I open it, the lighter comes out of the case and i have to push it back in EVERY SINGLE TIME. If anyone reading this review is looking to purchase this lighter and they have Amazon Prime, you can get it cheaper and quicker there. I thought the whole idea of this site was to get an item for cheaper by having enough people to purchase it before the end of the drop? Why is this product cheaper on Amazon and can even be purchased for $10.99 without the logo on there (I'm referring to the Matte Finish by the way)? Good build quality, you can pretty much repair/replace the internals as needed. In terms of a functional object it's excellent.More than that, I love it just as a something to focus/center myself. In the same vein as a fidget cube, it has a pleasing kinetic feedback to it's action, while also engaging on the senses of smell, sound, and temperature.

It is easy to forget that real classic items do not work out-of-the-box. You need to learn their use and maintenance if you are unfamiliar with them. Same way, do not expect the same carefree user attitude from a Zippo lighter than from a disposable gas lighter. Standard Zippo nothing special here. Standard build quality, standard Zippo sound. Solid price though.I bought a Matte Black lighter with a dual butane insert. The hinge on the lighter body is a bit looser then I remember Zippos being which causes the lid to misalign sometimes, and the paint on the bottom of the lighter is uneven around the nameplate. Loose hinge on the lighter has caused paint chipping on two corners of the lid after a couple weeks use. Not dealbreakers, but I like my new stuff to be perfect. I have not used the standard insert that came with this unit, experience here is historical.The dual jet butane insert fits snugly, and creates a very nice flame of adequate size, even at the lowest setting. The butane insert lights the first time, every time, even inverted. The insert does only hold a little bit of butane, enough for a day or so of regular use (smoking herbs out of glass). Will probably last you a long time if you are lighting cigarettes (ew).
