Another great unit, I have had many, never cause one failed. Just wanted to get new features. This gets more use than any other appliance I have. Breakfast bowls, rice, quinoa, can do it all, and GABA was the feature that made me buy the first one. Been making so many different varieties: Forbidden (black), Red (Thai), Brown Basmati, Short grain brown, Oats, Faro, Rye berries.

Hello all Zojirushi JEC10 friends, and prospective owners of these remarkable 'Rice Rockets'!( forgive the long read)The other morning before leaving for work, I had a few minutes of PANIC - in putting on white rice to be ready some hours later, the 'Type of Rice' button was unresponsive - I thought "HOW could I have disabled/broken my brand new cooker on the 3rd time to use it!" The setting seemed Stuck on the previous brown/gaba ... We got the smaller Zojirushi 5.5 cup 1L Pressure Induction Heating Rice Cooker NW-JEC10 and have enjoyed cooking both red rice and jasmine rice in less time than our prior cooker, with excellent results; then tried Scottish Porridge Oats, which also came out perfectly. The bowl is thicker and heavier than our prior cooker, so has a very solid feel to it. This cooker is a joy to use plus easy to clean. Further, the heating mode means irregular work hours don't condemn me to cold or overcooked meals when finally arriving home. We even like the newer stand-up rice spoon. Our older larger Zojirushi will gain renewed life handing down to family with kids. Great products!

This is the newest model available in the United States. And while Zojirushi has styled it to look like its Japan-only counterparts, the insides are very similar to the previous model NP-NWC10/18. This cost $200USD more, but offers an almost identical set of features. The Japan-only model features the company's "flame dance" technology, which incorporates 4 or more separate induction elements. Their Japanese marketing materials proclaim the superior nature of this technology, yet in the United States they charge us for it but offer none. The Japan-only version also has a thicker inner cooking pan. While this rice cooker undoubtedly produces great rice, we do truly feel taken advantage of. Save your money and buy the old model.
This machine makes great rice. It’s also the nicest looking cooker on the market. However it’s impossible to clean. Rice gunk gets caught everywhere including under gaskets and even with attempts at thorough cleans after every use, the rice gunk hides and ends up turning into a bacterial mess. The self clean function doesn’t get it clean either. Overall this is a big disappointment.
Replaced my previous rice cooker of 6 years which was also quite good and why I returned; I really like everything about this model except the display it is far too dark and needs either adjustable backlit settings or to simply be brighter full time. I did not have this issue with my older model NVC18, additionally the fonts are so small I must put on glasses to clearly read them which I did not with the NVC18.
I previously had another Zojirushki rice cooker that one day got up and walked to my daughter's home. So because I liked it so much I immediately went and purchased this one. I can tell you it makes great rice and also steel oats. I especially like the ability to set to timers. I have one set for the morning and the other for the evening meals. It also provides so many additional options for rice. It is easy to clean and maintain. It is expensive and I would be remised if I did not mention that however I do think it is worth the price.
Purchased specifically to cook overnight steel cut oats. While it will cook them according to a preset start time (put in ingredients, start time night before, have oats ready when you wake up), it makes a mess that is tedious to clean up - every time. Making just one cup of oats, the unit will overflow through the vent and spew oatmeal down the sides of the device and onto the counter. Worse yet, you then have to dismantle the top and use pipe cleaners to remove oats from all of these impossible-to-reach nooks and crannies designed into the vent system. It is a disaster and should not be included as a claimed feature for use. I would send it back if I could. If you want to cook oatmeal, find another way.
The Zojirushi Pressure IH rice cooker is doing some kind of magic in the machine. It almost feels like I’ve been eating rice the wrong way my entire life! The Zojirushi gets the consistency and texture perfect each time. I’ve used another pressure induction rice cooker brand before, and the results does not even come close. The new Rice Cooker makes a great addition to my collection of Zojirushi appliances. I’ve been waiting to get a Zojirushi rice cooker that had a modern design and I’m glad a US version of the latest Japan version has become available.
Wow. I got this rice cooker to replace an Oster model that originally cost me $29.00 on Amazon. While I was skeptical of the price, 830.00 I figured out why it is so expensive immediately. After connecting it to my Wi-Fi network it greated me by name and offered me a mixed drink. It proceeded to hop in the car, get all the ingredients for my favorite cocktail and picked up the tab for the purchase. How it did so, I was afraid to ask. Oh and the rice was so amazing, it tasted just like rice.
