I tried these thermal socks out in the 9 degree sea in late March. Having swim through the winter without socks I am used to the initial feeling of cold when I first get in the water and it was a real surprise that when I got in this time I didn't feel anything, even as my friends around me were gasping and swearing in the usual way. Of course my legs got cold in the usual way but my feet never got cold. Often my toes go a bit numb after a cold swim but this time that didn't happen after 25 minutes or so in the water. The fit was good, I could feel a little water in my right sock as I swam but nothing in the left and 5e socks didn't affect my swimming at all. It took a bit of time to get them off and next time I must remember to put something on above the waist ... MoreI tried these thermal socks out in the 9 degree sea in late March. But overall it was a very pleasant experience wearing them and I,am sure I will enjoy wearing these socks next winter.

I was looking forward to trying these as I've heard them recommended many times. Previously used 4mm socks with shorter ankle which work well for me. I went for the Medium as suggested in the size guide. I'm a broad size 7 I tested them out in March for 25 mins max in the Scottish sea and my feet didn't get cold at all. They were easier than I anticipated to get on, although snug around the calf as I've "strong" calves as a physio once described them! The velcro was only just long enough but not really needed for me. The construction design meant that little water got into the sock initially then entered slowly. The fit ensured that there wasn't water sloshing around my foot or ankle. The sole was a wee bit narrow on my foot so the seem felt a little uncomfortable ... They were a little tricky to get off but I think that would ease after a few wears as it has with other similar products I've used and it wouldn't enough to put me off these socks. I'd give them 5 stars if I had a "well turned calf" :D to allow the sock to fit slightly better.

I was gifted these socks in exchange for a review. As with the Heat-Tech gloves these socks appear sturdy and well-made. I have size 6 feet and opted for the small socks which are a perfect fit. The socks were not difficult to put on, the ankle is slim so requires a bit of easing over the heel but this was expected. They feel comfortable and snug without being tight. I tested the socks during a 12 minute swimsuit swim in 5 degree water and my feet remained warm throughout. I usually wear 5mm socks and after this amount of time in the water my feet begin to feel painfully cold. As with my experience with the gloves the temptation is there to stay in the water too long, they are almost too good and I am going to have to start relying on knowing the signs in the rest ... I plan to test these socks with a longer swim in similar water temperatures with a wetsuit but I expect to find that my feet stay warm for as long as I am able to stay in the water. Removing the socks was not as tricky as anticipated though still required a bit of easing over the heel and I definitely had to sit down to do this to avoid losing my balance. I usually swim in lochs or rivers where the ground tends to be rocky so I'm not sure how durable these socks will be in the long run but the sole feels robust enough at the moment. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend these socks.

Scoured the reviews before I bought these! I am regular OWS that swims through winter. Upgraded to these from 2mm neoprene socks as had a longer distance planned for October in a colder quarry lake. Felt thinner than expected on arrival but good quality. The ankle seal has no flex making the on off more of a struggle I have actually snipped it now as getting them off wet was a palava Agree with others elastic tape not quite long enough as if pulled tight feels compromises circulation. Nb my ankles are a normal size/shape and on the slender side! That said definitely warmer than old ones. Cold still penetrates but toes have stopped going numb on 2k+ distances now. Swift delivery and good comms Zone 3.Overall would recommend but not quite the magical socks some ... MoreScoured the reviews before I bought these! I am regular OWS that swims through winter. Delighted to be asked to try these out along with the heat-tech gloves and hat. As with the other two items initial impression was that of a high quality product and I couldn't wait to try. Longer than my usual boot they were quite tricky to pull on over my heel but once on they were nice and snug and true to size. As with the gloves the Velcro does make them extra secure and they never felt like they were coming off. Different in design to my usual boot which does not have a central seam, they appear to be much better tailored to my foot shape and as a consequence did not retain as much water and expand as with my normal boot. The liquid seal finish also prevents fraying edges which I have experienced with my current boots. Really appreciated the longer length as I ... They were not restrictive at all and my feet remained warm 7 toasty throughout my swim (approximately 20 mins at 7oC). I will be trying them for a longer swim next time and would definitely recommend for winter swimming!
The heat technology in these socks is really impressive. I used them for wild swimming in the Lakes in March. I've been keen to do some longer swims and my usual boots with a hard soul aren't ideas. These were just the ticket, once I'd got over feeling the stone under my feet as I walked in (appreciate that that's just because they're socks not boots and all socks would be the same)! I felt much more comfortable swimming with them. I sized up due to Raynauds so they weren't as snug on the foot & no doubt would be even more effective/comfortable if I'd got my actual size. I'm glad I sized up though as I have small feet and the top part of the sock on the size smaller would definitely have been too tight on my leg for my proportions. By far the best thing about these socks is the warmth, my feet were actually warm when I took them off. I definitely recommend them if warmth is what you're looking for.
I already owned and loved the Heattech gloves, so these were a logical purchase.Easy to put on. Love the Velcro strap - made them feel more secure although the ankle cuff had a good grip on my leg already.Did the job perfectly - a lovely swim, the lake was 11.5 degrees. I suffer from Raynauds and these socks avoided the dreaded white toes!Easier than other socks I have tried to get off post swim - I have arthritis in my hands and wrists but managed with relative ease.Great swimsocks, am looking forward to seeing how they will perform once the water gets colder as we move into winter!
Zone 3 very kindly gave me the chance to review these boots, along with hat & gloves which they gifted in return for reviews. So, i don't usually wear boots during my winter swims, as my feet are more robust than my hands, however, i did wear them for the purposes of this review. I have to say, i may have to be a boot wearer now!! On donning, they are quite tight, but true to size, i selected medium as i'm a size 7, but, once over your heel, its pretty straight forward, the attached velcro band gives a little more security. On getting into the water, i SWEAR it felt warmer due to boots!? The temp was about 8-10 degrees. I began breaststroke (until ice-cream headache abated) a little water got into the boots, but i expected that, & to be honest, it was minimal. It ... It was different at first as i'm not a boot wearer, i usually find when i wear swim boots/shoes my kick isn't as effective, it feels restrictive. I did some front crawl & found the boots weren't actually that restrictive & felt comfy. My feet remained warm throughout the swim (approx 25 mins). Getting the boots off was a little tough, but, due to warm hands (heat-tech gloves) & feet it was much easier to remove them. Overall, great product, & i believe i will use them more often during the winter months, as i'm sure they make the water warmer!?!
I kept swimming into the winter last year due to lockdown restrictions closing public swimming pools. I bought these booties after my feet began to numb from cooler sea temperatures as winter approached. They instantly made a difference and my feet were toasty from thereon. I love the velcro fasteners at the ankle which keep them on even if full of water. They are easy to put on and take off. A great warmth rating at 3mm thick. I swam in our coldest water of 11.1C last year with nary a problem. I could not be happier with their thermal qualities! A more robust sole would be welcome. As we have a rough granite seashore the soles developed holes after my first outing. Sometimes I alight on rocks when taking a break and the combination of mussels, kina, and rough rock ... They have certainly sorted my numb feet issue. Perhaps a robust version could be sold alongside the regular version for those with craggy coastlines?
The socks arrived in good time and in recyclable packaging - always a good start! I chose a medium size although I'm probably in between sizes with a size 6.5 shoe. The foot part of the sock was possibly a bit on the large side but they fit well around the calf - and I'm not sure that I'd have been able to get a smaller size up my calf! They're well put together and seams all look well covered and secure. The sole isn't very thick so I wouldn't want to walk around in them on stony ground Not the easiest things to put on but super comfortable and warm from the word go. The Velcro around the top really helps with ensuring they feel snug although there could be a longer area of Velcro to attach to - thinking of anyone with slimmer calf than me who might want to pull ... Once in the water they felt comfy and warm, not letting in too much water and not feeling too big and floppy on my feet They kept my feet warm in 9 degree water (swimming in the UK late March) I cannot comment on durability and how they perform over time as only worn once but so far very impressed and definitely did the job of keeping my feet warm without impeding my swim
