Again this size bark is excellent. I mix it with the small for repotting my orchids. I know it’s clean & without additives that could affect my orchids. Delivery is also excellent & good prices.

Nothing wrong with the product but goodness me I should have checked the amount before ordering! The smallest size gives you barely enough to cover a tiny plastic enclosure, let alone a proper reptile tank. Learn from my mistakes! It takes around 20L to cover a 1.2 metre tank like mine with substrate, even the largest size of this wouldn't cut it! Again not a problem with the product, totally my fault but still felt it was worth mentioning.

I've used this bedding for my box turtle for almost two years now. He seems to not have a problem with it. I got it from Amazon for $15.99 for a huge bag that lasts about a whole year. I only have to completely empty it and put new in every six months or so. He doesn't use the bathroom in the tank, so the only thing I've really had a problem with is pieces of food mixing with some smaller pieces of bark all around the tank and having to pick them out. Overall, this has worked and looked way better than the plain flat green mats that I was using before.

This is AMAZING for any fellow tortoise, the chips are medium size and sturdy yet soft. I like that it doesn’t stick to the tortoise or their food, previously I used cypress mulch and forest moss which was okay a good base in my opinion I then changed to some dirt and forest moss and it was awful dust everywhere and even my tort hated it, it go in his food and water bowls, all over his shell scales. But THIS is the holy grail! It’s amazing at holding humidity and looks great in the enclosure I’m very proud of my purchase and will continue to use, it doesn’t smell nasty or anything to me it smells like the wood chip playground but that smells SO good to me lol
This is a really good humidity holding substrate for tropical reptiles. Fabulous choice for tortoises and works very well for iguanas and water dragons. Do change it frequently, about every two weeks, to prevent bacteria build up and possible skin infections. Works great! I also mix a handful into my bioactive substrate soil mix as well!
Thankfully I use paper towel substrate for all my snakes, because I bought this for the bottom of my iguana enclosure and was in utter disgust when I saw an orange mite crawling on him. Then I noticed they were in the bark... And then I noticed they were also crawling around in the brand new bag I just opened. I had bought two bags, so opened the second one and it was also full of these mites! Thank heavens I noticed the same day and immediately removed it and unfortunately had to throw out the two brand new bags I had just bought, which were given to me from Petco in this condition. 40 bucks down the drain and it also lead to me having to proactively treat every reptile in my house for mites (not fun!)If you buy this, please beware and thoroughly inspect the bag ... MoreThankfully I use paper towel substrate for all my snakes, because I bought this for the bottom of my iguana enclosure and was in utter disgust when I saw an orange mite crawling on him. I have been buying this product for years. The price has almost doubled within the last year. . Great product not worth the price. I have to find something else. Very disappointed
Decent substrate that is great for creating a micro climate. I use this in areas around my tortoise table to create these micro climates so my tortoise can choose more or less humid locations around his home.
We have 4 tortoises. This is the best substrate. They like to burrow in it. It holds moisture well and absorbs their waste with little to no smell. Make sure your tort/torts have plenty of ground space. Use tanks that are 50% as wide as they are long. We have 1/4 of their tanks with white slate rocks where we feed them (easier to clean) and 3/4 of their tanks with about 5 inches deep of Repti Bark. They are haopy, healthy and active.
I have been buying this brand for over 5byeara now and I absolutely love it! Not only is it available at a good price it works great. The cedar naturally helps neutralize odors and is very absorbent which is great if you have lizards that enjoy tipping their water dishes. I love that it is low moisture so it doesn't mold or mildew like some other brands. It is safe and natural for many reptiles and amphibians. Will keep buying this product as long as I have tank pets.
