ZWO ASI183MC Colour Astronomy Camera
The ZWO ASI183MC is a versatile and highly sensitive color astronomy camera for deep-sky imaging, lunar and solar imaging, and electronically-assisted astronomy (EAA) through a telescope. The camera incorporates a large state-of-the-art 13.2mmx8.8mm CMOS sensor with 20.1 megapixels and high quantum efficiency to help you extract maximum detail in your astrophotos while keeping noise and exposure time as low as possible. The USB3.0 port offers a fast capture rate of 19 frames-per-second at the full resolution of 5496x3672, and much faster rates at lower resolutions. These data rates are perfect for solar and lunar imaging, and they allow for real-time focusing during EAA and imaging applications. This camera is also great for 'lucky imaging' of planets, double stars, and other compact objects, especially for telescopes with longer focal lengths. This is the non-cooled version of this camera. Cooled/pro versions are available separately. NOTE: This camera is best used with a refractor or reflector telescope mounted on a solid equatorial mount that can accurately track the motion of the sky. It is not intended for taking images through the eyepiece of a telescope. This camera produces color images without the need for additional color filters, but you may require additional accessories such as an autoguider or focal reducer to get the best results. All software and drivers for this camera are available from the manufacturer's website.

All of my previous astrophotographs have been taken with a digital photographic camera. My subs with this camera are significantly better. So far, I'm really happy with it.

Ok not used it loads yet, but enough to know it is performing as well as expected and providing the results I wanted. I use it for eeva and unguided imaging and it is well up to the task given.
I was after an upgrade from a planetary camera without the cost of a cooled camera. I also wanted something easier to control than a dslr and without the cost/risk of modding. This camera has been exactly what I wanted. The resolution and wider field of this camera have been fantastic with some great photos so far (by my standards...).
Great camera shipping was fast. This was my first test image
I have both the ASI183 MM and MC. They are great with the WO Zenith 61 II (also from Opt). They are a perfect match for each other. Getting used to moving from a DSLR to dedicated astro cameras is a little challenging, but definitely a step up. OPT has very fast shipping which I appreciate and everything that I purchase from them arrives in great shape.
For the price, this camera works extremely well. Putting the camera through its paces, the specifications seem to be spot on. The problems I had focusing the camera during the day were more excessive light and a washed out computer screen, Taking it out at night, aligning the scope and centering on a very bright star provided a nice airy disk which was easily focused as a point. Repointing the scope to a thin crescent moon was as sharp as seeing would allow.. This camera is being used on a Celestron Evolution 9.25" scope through a 2" star diagonal. On the downside, the software suite ASIStudio has little to no user manual.. Experimenting with the camera through the software, however, resolves most problems and is rather easy to use, particularly with many 3rd party ... MoreFor the price, this camera works extremely well. They answered my questions within a day, and didn't work from the more typical script.
I was surprised to get my ZWO ASI183 color camera and find that only loaded as a ZWO ASI183 mono camera. I down loaded the drivers that the quick setup called for but the camera only loaded in mono. The camera came with no drivers. I contacted OPT and was directed to contact ZWO. I did. The problem with ZWO is that they are in a +8 time zone and I am in a -6 time zone. This time zone difference too 2 nights for use to get on line at the same time. ZWO was pleasant and quickly loaded the proper firmware so the camera then loaded as a color camera. Had the proper firmware been loaded in the beginning I would not have had to contact OPT or ZWO to fix a problem that should have not happened.
Beautiful camera haven't been able to use this camera a lot just yet but images look impressive
