I've been using both the MM and MC versions of the ASI183 Pro camera with two fast (f/4.7) scopes and the image scale with this 2.4µm pixel size is a perfect match up for them or any focal length around 300mm - 500mm. To me, the sensor' only shortfall is the relatively shallow well depth but that can easily be compensated for by controlling exposure length.Some folks may take pause at some of this sensor' specs (compared to say the 6200 or 2600) but with attention to sub calibration those concerns are a moot point.Also, I mainly image DSOs but have begun doing some solar and planetary work with this camera and while not as speedy as the ASI290 or ASI462 I am finding that the IMX183 sensor performs very well making this camera truly multifunctional.

As most of astrophotographers I've started with DSLR,than graduated to OSC and finally move to mono imaging. What a difference in therm of sensitivity. Absolutely amazing.Very low noise. Only word of caution here - because very small pixel size you are required to paired it with quality optics. Very happy with results.

After lots of help from the team at FLO on what camera to upgrade to from a modded dslr I went mono and so glad I did, this is a great match for their Stellamira 90mm triplet. Arrived next day and that night was clear ! Got an hours worth of data on M33 but only luminace as I hadn't ordered any filters. The final stacked image was great so much more detail and a lot less noise than my dslr. Can't wait to add some colour to the image with this camera.

The camera is sensitive. The amp glow is better than cheaper cameras but you do get the classic artifact not found in the 2600 for example. That said it’s bias noise is just terrible; none of my cheaper camera have anything like this. One can clean it out with darks and bias frames but it’s just ugly to look at when one is in an imaging session; like someone poking you in the eye over and over.Given that is it worth the money? I don’t know. I am disappointed with Zwo on this. Not sure I would recommend it, but if it gives the FOV you want not sure what your alternative is; use some other manufacturer’s camera? If your using the AsiAir products one is just stuck with this.
I was finally able to get clear skies after all the new gear arrived and it works great! This camera is really good and I am enjoying the new challenge of capturing data with multiple filters. Don't be turned off by the amp glow it processes right out with propper Darks, Lights, and Bias files. Looking forward to the Nebula as Galaxies are a little small in my FOV with my RedCat. Or maybe it's time I buy a bigger scope lol I am sure OPT will like that :D
The camera is perfect for high-resolution imaging with shorter focal-length setups, such as my William Optics Z61. Everything worked right out of the box, cooler gets to -20C without breaking a sweat, and the low-noise images that result are detailed and easy to stack. What little amp-glow there is calibrates out with dark frames with no problem. Looking forward to doing narrow-band imaging with it soon!Typical good OPT ordering experience: ordered on Wednesday, had it on Thursday.
OPT same-day shipped the 183 pro and it arrived 2 days later via USPS.I bench tested the camera and it appeared to be working correctly.However, be advised that this relatively new CMOS camera requires the latest drivers from the ZWO website be installed. This includes both the ASI_camera_driver and the ASI_camera_ascom driver for Windows 10.I found that both SGP 3.03 and Sharpcap 3.2 will run this camera with the updated drivers.
I have looking to upgrade to this camera for a long time , not had the chance , until now which, I ordered from FLO ,I can thank FLO for the super fast delivey and plus suberd packed , I can set up ready for the winter nights , which I've not had chance to use it ,becasuse constent cloud at the moment , I will always give FLO 5 star for quick service & packed well. very best to the staff at FLO keep up the good work + A
I've had the camera for two weeks now, along with a number of clear nights. The images it produces are clear and detailed and I am thoroughly enjoying this new addition to my astrophotography rig. It pairs very nicely with my William Optics RedCat 51.
‘I’ve been impressed with this camera from the first moment I used it. Everything works as it’s supposed to. Have no concerns about the known amp glow as it calibrates easily and well with darks frames. I’ve done my best captures ever with this camera. I’ve been using it mostly for deep sky but recently I tried it for planetary and it also worked extremely well. Agena sent it promptly, great doing business with them. Thumbs up for both ZWO and Agena astro.
