Used indoors on Gas Oven. Once you learn the heat settings to get to temp/pressure and then hold at temp/pressure it is almost set and forget. Not recommending just saying you dont have to constantly stare at the pressure guage to hold pressure consistent. Just make sure your heat source/stove is proper btu's before use. Solid build quality for aluminum. Only comes with 1 rack and seal, so if planning on doing pints get a second rack. Seals are reasonable knowing that a seal will last 2 to 3 canning seasons. For the budget category Presto Canners are a tried and true product.

Works excellently. Purchased to replace a 21.5 All-American which failed after many years. At 1/3 of the cost of the All-American It does the job just as well and is much lighter in weight.My only regret is buying such a big one. I should have downsized by one size. This is why I only gave it 4 stars. This big is really not necessary in most households. very satisfied.

I was afraid of pressure cookers but this one came with an instruction booklet and was very easy to follow. Lots of tips and recipes for canning. I've jarred tons of things with this and if I can do it so can you! I have a cooktop and had to find the right adjustment for the temperature. Cooktops are temperamental and I wish I had a gas top but once you find how this works with your cooktop, it was fine.

This canner has been added to my current canning arsenol. I have used presto canners since the 1980s and found them to be very reliable and long lasting. I expect this one will perform in the same manner for many years. I have not used this one yet, but expect to break it in this weekend making pints of beef and bean chili for the winter pantry.This is the second item for my kitchen that I have ordered from Blains. This one, just like the last arrived within a few days of my order in mint condition, with all the necessary parts included in the box.
The Presto 23 quart aluminum pressure cooker has allowed me to can other items from my garden that need more than boiling water canning. With the pressure cooker I'm able to can tomatoes, green beans, beets, corn, and some meats. The pressure cooker is fairly light, easy to use, and, most of all, easy to clean. The pressure guage is easy to read. In addition, I'm able to cook a large amount of turnip greens at one time and them freeze them for the winter.
I already have a Presto 22qt pressure canner which I purchased new in 1985 at Sears. I have never had one problem with it, and I use it every canning season and in the winter months too. I purchased this one for a friend. There is a negative review from last December 2019 from a purchaser who complains that this product should have been made from stainless steel instead of "cheap" aluminum although I'm certain the he/she knew this before purchase. Well mine is still going strong 35 years later, AND it's made of aluminum! So guess what? If it lasted me for 35 years (and will easily last another 35yrs given proper care) AND It's made of aluminum....then it's a excellent duraable product for a very good price! Because I am incapable of making less than a vat of food at a time, I wanted to start canning the extras and not relying on freezing everything. This is the pressure canner that is the most popular amongst all the videos I watched and information I read. It's so much easier to do than I expected! The booklet that comes with the pot is rather intimidating for a newbie canner like myself, so once you've read over it I recommend watching a few videos of how to use use a canner to safely preserve foods. It's surprisingly uncomplicated. As for this specific canner, I can't compare it to others but it has been very easy to use. I just wish I hadn't waited so long to get it, I could have been doing this years ago!
I purchased this item so that I could can meats. I have canned beef, pork, and chicken. This pressure cooker/canned comes with many safety features is it certainly isn’t your grandmothers pressure cooker! I found it to be extremely safe & easy to use. Can’t wait to can more meats and then venture into canning chili, soups & veggies!!
functionally this thing is exactly what I expected and would have liked to give it 5 stars. However,... there was a black residue on the interior of the pot when i received it 'new in box'.i initially used hot water and 'dawn' dish soap thinking it would wash right out. nope.tried paint thinner next, nope. acetone next, nope. xylene, nope. Naptha, nope. my last solvent on hand was MEK which also failed to have any noticeable effect on the black stuff.I considered boxing it back up and returning it. not really what i wanted to do as i would not have purchased it if i didn't have a need for it.I put a splash of dawn dish soap in the bottom of the pot and then added a half gallon of tap water then closed it up and set it the stove with a medium frame under it. let ... Morefunctionally this thing is exactly what I expected and would have liked to give it 5 stars. my mom would can vegetables when I was a child so I took quite an interest in it. Now, I am grown and I want to try canning too. I did a lot of research and this is one of the most used sizes of canners around. Unless you want to go electric and the much larger expense, I opted for this pressure canner. I love it. I need to do it more expecially with the instability in this country and our grid right now. I highly recommend it!
