My dog vacuumed up this food. Loves it. I'm giving 3 stars because I think its probably great food. But my dog can't eat anymore of this. The ding comes from the labeling. This should be called Venison and Lamb. Sadly my dog is horribly allergic to lamb. This seems to be an unfortunate industry practice. The beef foods use chicken for filler, the venison use lamb. With my old pal officially allergic to beef, chicken, and lamb it's starting to look grim. The reason

My dog was on TOTW and developed DA-DCM. It almost killed her. The vet changed her food to purina and she showed a lot of improvement. My vet told me that TOTW is one of the top brands associated with DCM. Why doesn't the manufacturer put a warning label on the bag??! Just like cigarettes that can lead to cancer, so can some dog food but lead to enlarged hearts. So many dogs are dying the owners don't even know.

As a chihuahua I am accustomed to the very best of life. I enjoy looking out at the mountains from my favorite seat. When it comes to food I want only the best for my tiny tummy. Nothing tastes as fabulous as taste of the wild. Even if I’m a domesticated house dog that lounges all day I occasionally chase a squirrel or rabbit and I need energy for that. I’m from the Appalachian mountains and the Appalachian valley food from taste of the wild tastes like home. I have literally been known to dump lesser foods from my bowl. Taste of the wild is all that is allowed to cross my plate

My dog loves this food
22 July 2024

Been feeding my 35lb pit/chiweenie mix Taste of the Wild for a little over a year and she loves all the flavors, but I noticed she especially loves the small kibble pieces in this flavor. She's a brat and will take a mouth full, put them all on the ground next to her bowl, look at me and wag her tail, and then eat them. Her looking at me to make sure I see her making a mess is how I know she really loves the food. It's like a game or something to her. Anyway 10/10 I hope TOTW makes more flavors with smaller kibble pieces. (doggo is 10 years old and still an energizer bunny)

My little old dogs LOVE Taste of the Wild Small Breed Kibble
5 May 2024

I've been buying Taste of the Wild dog kibble for our 4 dogs for many years. We have tried (and enjoyed) just about every variety they have to offer. My dogs just do well on it and I appreciate the quality ingredients that goes into this food. Although it is in a higher price range, it's still affordable / not crazy expensive.Unfortunately, all our local supply stores rarely (or never) carry the Small Breed formula. Now that my two small-sized dogs are growing quite old, they definitely seem tp prefer the smaller kibble size. It was great not only to finally find it offered by Petflow, but also in the big 28ib size!

Their favorite food!

Finding something that both of these guys like is a chore! We have tried Blue Buffalo and the little “Life Bits” are always on my floor and thrown out of the bowl. One doesn’t care for Wellness the other is not a fan of another brand. Taste of the Wild is a hit. Both guys pleased with venison and sweet potatoes. No arguing!Neither dog has problems digesting this and their coats look fantastic!

Two Paws Up!
14 March 2023

Got food allergies? This might help!My toy Aussie suffers from multiple food allergies, and it has taken us so much searching and trial & error to find a food that doesn't set off her allergies. We've tried SO many foods, but unfortunately she's sensitive to all of the common animal proteins found in dry dog foods. This is the *only* dry dog food that she'll eat (and she loves it!) that doesn't cause her allergies to flare. It has literally changed her life.I highly recommend the Appalachian Valley Small Breed Canine Recipe with Venison & Garbanzo Beans. The venison is a great animal protein to try for dogs that are allergic to chicken, beef, lamb, etc. My little dog gives it two paws up!

Unfortunately my chihuahua is allergic
23 August 2024

Unfortunately my chihuahua is allergic to the food.On the 4th day of introducing she started scratching her mouth after eating the food. She also scratched her ears constantly for the entire day. Her ears were very red and hot. I did not feed her any more of the food and the allergic reaction has not returned. This food is not suited for my dog.

our dogs loved it
13 November 2023

we have been feeding our own dogs, taste of the wild for several years now. Mainly because I liked that it was grain free and did not have rosemary extract in it. Because rosemary extract causes seizures in one of my dogs. We personally own nine dogs. And have seven foster dogs. Recently, I had to stop buying taste of the wild. Because of the big price increase. We can no longer afford it. And had to switch over to a Sam’s Club generic namebrand food over there’s that doesn’t have any rosemary extract in it. I really wish I could have continued with taste of the wild, but having as many dogs as we have and the price increase hurt us badly.

small breed kibble curbs flatulence in small dogs
19 January 2023

True to all the small breed kibbles I've purchased over the years, Taste of the Wild small breed kibble ensures my small dogs don't fill our house with stinky gas. I buy Taste of the Wild brand for the small number of ingredients. Our vet told us that our poodles' eye boogers, disgusting earwax, and staining around the mouth would disappear, if we fed them non-allergenic proteins. We were recommended especially to avoid chicken and beef. Taste of the Wild offers several different non-allergenic meat-based kibbles. Our dogs are clean, sweet-smelling, and healthy. Thanks Taste of the Wild.
