For being a notebook that has a chip that has those "efficiency cores" in it, I was pleasantly surprised (more like horrified) that this notebook is faster at some tasks than my desktop that has an 8700K in it. Yikes! Wait a second, something's wrong here; this should not be. I guess it's time to upgrade my desktop.Yes, it does have integrated graphics but believe it or not, it can run some older games. I'm not saying that the performance is great but it can play them. That was a pleasant surprise.

I bought the previous model of this laptop. Within weeks the laptop started crashing suddenly. The Acer Care software showed no problems. Acer's support recommended I reset the computer to factory settings and then reinstalled my software.Unfortunately shortly after I reset and reinstalled the laptop the crashes happened again. It got really bad - one day I was unable to do any work because the computer crashed more than 20 times so I sent it in for repair under Acer's warranty.I got the laptop back - 4 days after I got it back I had 4 crashed in not even one and a half hours. I tried to escalate with Acer to at least get a replacement in the meantime but they insist that I ship it back again to Acer and was told I would have to do a number of additional returns ... MoreI bought the previous model of this laptop. Multiple Acer support specialists confirmed this is their return policy and they won't make an exception. I deeply regret this purchase.

I bought this for my son in law who needed it for school. I has features that cost much more from other brands.I found it to be very thin, lite, and FAST.I have never used Windows 11 before, but was able to rapidly down load updates, get Office 365 setup, and generally it ready for his classwork. It was very speedy at everything I ask it to do, so more time accomplishing and lest time staring at the screen waiting. My wife and grandson both have Spin 5s and they have failed to break them. I have a newer spin 3.We have had great luck with these, fast reliable and take abuse from a couple of known hard users. My son in law loved this when he started using it. He does not have a lot of patience and has been all smiles as a user of this laptop.

If you think you're going to be able to do any serious gaming on this laptop: YOU KNOW BETTER. :) This is a great mid-range laptop for working. I don't tax it tremendously - I do some moderate Excel work (working with files that are 20-30MB) and typically have four Chrome windows open plus Word. So not a huge lift in terms of workload (except for Excel), but this machine doesn't even sweat a little bit with it, even with only 8GB of RAM and an i5.This replaced my gaming laptop with this as my primary work computer because it can handle all the tasks and to boot this keyboard is much nicer - it's not super soft but you don't have to press down insanely hard to get a key to register. The 15.6" FHD screen is nice, and I love the fact it DOES NOT have a touchscreen. ... MoreIf you think you're going to be able to do any serious gaming on this laptop: YOU KNOW BETTER. :) This is a great mid-range laptop for working. Honestly, this is a great laptop. The specs are amazing and the fact that it has 24GB of ram for that price is just amazing. The 2 things that I found was first the charging. When I first plugged it in, it was fine. I finished setting it up and out of nowhere it stops charging. I didn’t really think of it as any thing except for the fact it’s still plugged in so I just unplugged it and plugged it back in and continued on. It then proceeded to continue doing this and I just shut it down as it was pretty annoying. I went back the next day and returned it to get a new one and asked them to check to see if the new laptop had the same issue, they tried it and it had the same issue that the first one had. I ended it up just not even getting it and getting an HP instead. ... MoreHonestly, this is a great laptop. The specs are amazing and the fact that it has 24GB of ram for that price is just amazing. I ended it up just not even getting it and getting an HP instead. The second thing that I thought was weird is the ram speed. When checking task manager for the first time on the laptop and checking the ram speed, it was clocked at 2133 MHz which was weird as when I checked it on the one on display, it was clocked at 2667 MHz. Rather they overclocked the ram on the one on display or it has different ram (or underclocked). If you wanted to take a risk of trying to get a good one of these, I wouldn’t. It probably was just a bad batch.
Bought this and promptly purchased a couple of upgrades which lead me to some questions.First, it supports TWO NVMe drives, but only one can be Gen4. You might think it comes with a Gen4 drive then... nope. Built-in drive is Gen3. The Gen4 slot is available. I upgraded the one I bought adding another gen3, but found it both odd and disappointing it wouldn't ship with a Gen4 drive.Second, it supports two DDR4 SoDIMMs. Great. But it ships with two 4 GB modules rather than one 8 GB module. I upgraded it with a 32 GB SoDIMM, but was disappointed I was only able to retain one 4 GB module for a total of 36 GB of RAM.Still, overall, excellent machine, just a little disappointed in the out-of-box hardware config.
Only two problems I had was, I had to take the first laptop back to the store, because of manufacture damage to the laptop. Also the computer does not have 512 gig preloaded. There is only 475 gig available. After the tech set up my computer, I noticed there was only 400 gig free. I started to wonder where 112 gig went, so I checked the drive, and saw the operating system and apps installed , used about 75 gig. I knew something was not right.I was told the operating system uses a lot. I said not that much. So, after investigating the issue, I realized there wasn’t 512 gig in the laptop. There was only 475. 75 gig was used to set up the laptop. I brought this to the attention of a technician at Best Buy. He said I should call Acer and tell them. I asked him to let Acer know as well.To make sure I had enough storage, I bought an external hard drive. I was disappointed in Acer, not Best Buy. The staff at Best Buy were very good with me. Mike T was amazing to deal with. He sold me the laptop. Nick, and James set up the laptop for me. They were great to deal with in Saint John.
This is a Great little laptop. Bought it a couple of months ago and it is working out very well. Some of the Pro Points are that it is much faster and much more responsive than my 3 year old Dell with a Intel core i5 processor and more ram. Was a little leery of the AMD brand, but after using this one I no longer have any concerns. Lighted keyboard is also a key here and has a very good feel. Battery life is fine and with a Two Year Warranty this deal is hard to pass up. My only Con for this laptop is that it does not have a built in card reader, but for a couple of bucks I bought a USB card reader that works just fine. Take my word on this one and you won't be disappointed!
I think |I knew there was something wrong the day I bought it. While setting it up, with unit plugged in, the battery indicator indicated it was draining quickly even though plugged in. I completed my setup, then turned it off and charged it fully, over 24 hours. I tried to use it on battery mode and it went from 100% to somewhere in the area of 60% in less than two hours - for a machine that's supposed to have a a long battery charge. I used it the next day on remaining battery, then plugged in to recharge while using, and it froze at some point with a black screen with an electrical plug symbol with red line. It wouldn't turn off or doing anything at all. So I boxed it up and returned it, declining to exchange, preferring the refund. I chose Acer because I bought ... MoreI think |I knew there was something wrong the day I bought it. I chose Acer because I bought a used Acer laptop last year from a senior gentleman who didn't use it, and it's worked fine as long as I've had it. But I wanted a new laptop to replace my desktop which I've just discarded. But now I'm left cautious to purchase another Acer and certainly don't believe the battery time posted on other models I've looked at since my experience with this one.
I bought this just to supplement my desktop gaming rig, so I didn't have to bust it out to play indie titles and such, but it's been great. Lightweight, runs fast, even as someone who can't usually stand touchpads, this one has been quite good. It runs everything I want it to just as well as my desktop. Two negatives, though, one minor and one not-so-minor:- As someone who extensively uses the number pad, it's very off-putting not having the 0 key directly underneath 2. There's plenty of room, not sure why they didn't add that extra column to the right for Enter, etc.-The sound quality of the laptop's speakers are really bad. Almost unbelievably bad. I'm not usually a prude when it comes to sound quality, but even I can tell it's atrocious. I'd bet my phone has ... MoreI bought this just to supplement my desktop gaming rig, so I didn't have to bust it out to play indie titles and such, but it's been great. I had an old cheapo bluetooth speaker that I had to start using until I can get something a little more substantial.
