ADAPTIL Calm Collar Small 45cm

I was excited to try this out on my furry friend. He's always been somewhat anxious around people visiting and it's just gotten worse over the years now having kids around. He's become much more protective which makes it hard for us to have visitors. The collar itself comes with very easy instructions to follow. It lasts about 4 weeks and you just unwind and attach to his neck - cutting off any extra length if it's too long. The product itself claims to provide reassurance to my dog in stressful situations. In the first few days of wearing, I can't say I really noticed a difference. Just a little over a week though, I started noticing slight changes that he was becoming a lot more calmer around people and was able to get comforted a lot quicker than usual. I like that this product is so easy to use and would hopefully like to see more options in the future where it can last longer than a month but so far, I can see slight improvements in his temperament and I look forward to seeing how much improvement I can get in the coming weeks.I was gifted this product sample to trial and review.

I was asked to trial and review the ADAPTIL Calm On-the-go Collar on my five year old kelpie. He has a very placid temperament, but still gets rather anxious in certain situations. Thunder storms are frightening to him, and he is also terrified of the air compressor we have because it's so loud.We had high hopes for the ADAPTIL collar, and found it easy to put on, and our dog was receptive to wearing it.He's had the collar on for almost two weeks, and in that time I've been trying some gentle exposure therapy when it comes to the air compressor. He will now stand next to it while it's switched off, but he's shaking like a leaf and can't wait for the command that he can leave. We've also had a number of storms whilst he's been trialling the collar, but we've seen ... MoreI was asked to trial and review the ADAPTIL Calm On-the-go Collar on my five year old kelpie. He has a very placid temperament, but still gets rather anxious in certain situations. He still hides himself away under the bed no matter how much we try and reassure him.I'm glad I didn't pay for the collar or it would have been a waste of money.I am going to have my neighbour trial it on her dog and will report back if she notices any difference.*Disclaimer - I was gifted a product sample to trial and review.

I've now had this collar on for several weeks and while it made no difference at all for major anxiety episodes like a visit to the vets (my dog's all time most hated place) or during thunderstorms (we've had 3 now since she had the collar). She was as anxious as ever during those things and had to be placated in other ways (she won't even take a treat when she's that anxious) like very close cuddling, lots of talking and petting. However, I did notice that she was better with visitors and not nearly as anxious when a dog came to visit and ran all around her yard or when workman came to do a job at the house. Also she seemed a bit calmer when walking down the road when cars and a bicycle passed. I suspect as long as she's at home in an environment she feels ... MoreI've now had this collar on for several weeks and while it made no difference at all for major anxiety episodes like a visit to the vets (my dog's all time most hated place) or during thunderstorms (we've had 3 now since she had the collar). Also she seemed a bit calmer when walking down the road when cars and a bicycle passed. I suspect as long as she's at home in an environment she feels relatively safe in, the collar will add a small degree of extra comfort to her. For bigger anxiety issues medication might be called for (at least that's what my vet tells me), or maybe for thunder a thundershirt would help (I only tested the collar). It was very easy to use - no scent and no residue on the hands, and slipped right over her head, tightening up quickly and easily. She doesn't like clothes but didn't mind the collar at all and doesn't seem to notice it as it is relatively thin and innocuous and tucks neatly under her normal walking collar. I would certainly consider getting this again for a trip away, but not sure it's suitable, given the high cost, for regular wear, and for super high-anxiety situations or a highly anxious dog, it's probably not going to make an appreciable difference on its own.
