That is how good these headphones are...I received a pair of the TREKZ Titaniums for Fathers Day in 2015 or 2016 and feel in love with them. The battery life is stated to be 6 hours, but the battery will actually last 10-12 hours.I would wear them all day at work with background music playing and no one knew!!! I could sit through meetings, or work at my desk, and still hear the conversations going on around me while listening to music. The drawback was that, wearing them all day, if I was on a call, others wouldn’t realize it and walk up and start talking to me because they were so used to me wearing them all day.I allowed others to try them on and ALOT of my co-workers also bought them because they were so impressed with the quality of sound, fit and comfort. It got to the point where others would joke about this “3rd floor gift bag.” Their observation was that everyone on the 3rd floor must have received a gift bag with these headphones in it because there were so many wearing them.I also showed them to a retired ARMY friend that was nearly legally deaf because of her “experiences” over in Afghanistan and because these headphones, sort of “bypass” those fine hairs in the ear canal that get destroyed/lay down and cause the ‘hearing loss”, she could, again, listen to music and talk on the phone.I originally paid $70 and definitely got my moneys worth out of them (I wore them for the past 5 to 6 years almost everyday). The original pair eventually broke due to my own negligence (I just stuck them in a pocket in my backpack). But because they are such a phenomenal set of headphones, I HAD to get another pair.I WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THESE HEADPHONES... 1000 TIMES OVER!!!

The new version had a titanium band and wasn't glued together.Second set, the new titanium band ended before the earpieces, which were just rubberized plastic. This piece broke while on my head one day. They still worked fine, they just weren't comfortable anymore because I could feel the broken bit against my temple. I realized what was wrong when I took them off to adjust my glasses. This new version, the titanium band continues all the way through to there, so that won't happen again.I've never had a complaint about the audio quality, and it's gotten a little bit better with each version of their product so far.Yes, bass does not come through very well over ambient noise (road noise, wind, power tools, conversation, etc). I don't take anything away for that, because this is what they're designed to do: let you hear the world around you while still enjoying your music without annoying everyone else around you. Of course that's going to wipe out the frequencies easiest to interfere with.If I want the audiophile experience, I'll dig out the studio headphones I use with my computer. These are great for wear while at work, on the road, hiking in the mountains, etc. I'd wear them fishing, but I don't think they're rated for being submerged, and small boats can capsize, so I dig out the cheapo earbuds for those days. The only thing I dislike about this current version is that they haven't switched to USB-C yet, so I have to look closely at the end of a long day at work to make sure I insert the micro-usb the right direction. That probably hadn't taken off yet during the design phase on this generation, so I'm not going to knock a star off for it.Aftershokz clearly cares about its product and what their customers' experiences are, as they keep making their product just that little bit better, solving what I imagine are the most common failure points in the previous generation every time they update the design. As long as they keep doing that, they have a customer for life right here. That's the kind of respect for the end user experience that more companies need to adopt!

It's different than in/over-ear headphones. Bass is a little lacking but you wouldn't want strong bass rattling those particular bones in your ear. It (mostly) bypasses your eardrums, which feel bass most.- I like that if I turn off my bluetooth speaker, my iPhone automatically routes audio to my Trekz. The drawbacks are things that could probably be addressed in a software update (if there were a Trekz update app):Volume:Alert, e.g. "charge me," volume can not be changed-- and the declaration of battery level is really loud-- the maximum volume. If you hit the volume button multiple times it repeats the "battery level" message that number of times. Shouldn't queue the message. You might do this if you forgot you needed to play music to change volume level. This is probably an iPhone issue, but if you turned the volume all the way up for an audio book, then wanted to turn down the volume before playing music, you can't do that. You have to play music before you adjust your audio, blasting your ears (or take off the device ha ha).Battery:"Charge me" blares in your ear, or on your night table, waking you up at night if it decides it's time to be charged.Once it detects low power, the device very often declares its low power state, shouting "charge me"-- multiple times per minute on occasion. It should just say it once per 15 minutes AT MOST. The thing is strapped to my head, after all.The device never turns off automatically- I like that, except it should turn off automatically if it's disconnected or intermittently disconnected (iPhone far away) for a while.Maybe it should also turn off automatically if not playing anything and the battery is low?Honestly, "charge me" makes the device unusable without medium or high battery charge.Pairing:When using multiple device pairing, or when signal is low, yields plentiful "disconnected to reconnected" noises. For instance, if you connect it to your laptop and iPhone, and walk away to another room you'll hear tons of beeps. On top of that, I could not get multiple device pairing to stream audio from both an iPhone and a MacBook, even one at a time.If you walk out of range of your phone to the restroom or something, this thing will beep every few seconds till it’s reconnected... Beeping once is probably all I need unless I hit a button. If it's disconnected and you hit a button it could read "disconnected."Redial last number:There's been precisely one time when redialing the last number has been useful. Otherwise, it's incredibly stressful to have the device redial. It should delay two seconds, and if you hit the main button again-- it should read "cancelled," otherwise I have to rapidly stop my bicycle, pull out my iPhone and double check/ cancel the call. It's embarrassing to call a colleague, ringing zero or one time because my headset misbehaved-- when I'm trying to enjoy a bike ride.Writing this all up is a lot of free work for the company, but I honestly like the product enough that I hope they'd incorporate these improvements just so I can use it.

I have been a long-time user of Bluetooth headphones. In the past couple of years, as earbuds have become increasingly popular, I looked at and considered purchasing Apple Air Pods Or something similar. Truth be known, I'm fairly confident that I would lose one of the earbuds about 15 minutes after the purchase so I'm not sure that this is a viable alternative. I have historically used neckband type Bluetooth headphones so as to ensure that the device is connected to my body in some way. This was an important feature in deciding on these particular headphones as well as other options.I have to be honest, when I first learned of these headphones, I was not sure that this was something I would like. I do like the fact that they clipped on and bone induction seemed like a good idea, but the price was certainly much higher than many other headphones on the market and a bit of a deterrent on the surface. Prior to purchasing these headphones, I found some comparable bone induction headphones that had good reviews on Amazon. I tried two different pairs; both seem to be OK but I was not pleased with the sound quality. After testing out the second pair, I actually just ran to the store and purchased the AfterShokz Air Headphones so that I can easily compare them with a similar product. I have to say that instantly I could tell the difference. Yes, in terms of price I would say that the Aftershokz Products are more expensive than similar products available on the market. However, the technology is far superior and the sound quality Is much better than comparable products. In the end for me, it made so much more sense to spend an additional 40 to 50 bucks to get some thing that was far better than save a few dollars and be frustrated with an inferior product. It is important to note for anyone considering bone induction headphones that the sound quality will be different than what you've been used to with traditional headphones. Your Ear canals will be completely open and can hear background noise around you. This is certainly a reason why people choose these types of headphones, but it is very different than what some may be used to. It is true the deep base will be compromised; however, I have not found this to be a huge issue. For starters, if you just put some air plugs in you'll find that you have very deep rich bass sound coming from the headphones. When I do find an occasion when I want to completely block out the noise, I simply put in my earplugs and it completely changes the sound quality. Still, if you are seeking Bluetooth headphones to completely block out outside noise this may not be a good solution for you.The one thing that I truly love about these headphones is that I can wear them all day long. I can have them on my head, ready to go to take calls or listen to music and I can completely hear everything going on around me. They are great to use when shopping or in the car as you can completely take calls and also interact with people around you without any problem. I do frequently also pull them down around my neck; the band just fits snugly around my neck and hold them in place ready to use. This too has been great for me as again I always have my headphones around me, and I do not feel like I will easily lose them when moving about my daily routine.Another great feature that I have truly come to embrace over time, and something I did not consider at the outside, is the fact that I can sync with both my phone and computer. I facilitate many webinars And live streaming sessions, and I have found that the headphones are fantastic as I can wear them during my sessions and listen in for questions and other things happening during my live session, but the headphones are extremely discreet and on camera does not appear that I have anything on at all. This is great as I'm able to hear things that are going on in the room around me, and also listening to student questions without having to wear larger and sometimes obtrusive headsets or headphones.I'm not sure that there's any significant downside to these headphones if you consider the type of headphones themselves. Again, this is a very different type of headphones. If you review some of the reviews about bone induction headphones on Amazon and other sites, You will see some people complaining about the sound quality or perhaps the volume being too low. Some people just don't like the way they function. The thing to really keep in mind is that you cannot compare these headphones to traditional headphones; sort of apples to oranges comparison. Yes, they are both headphones and provide sound, but these will do it in a very different way than what most people are accustomed to. If you understand that part of it, And this is something that you were looking for, you will be very happy with the product itself. This particular model is only Bluetooth 4; I would like to see Bluetooth 5 and I am considering upgrading to one of the new products. The battery life has generally been pretty good; the literature indicates about six hours of battery life. I would say that I have found this to be accurate more or less; I think it's difficult taking calls throughout the day to really assess if I'm getting a full six hours of talk time out of it. However, for the most part, I have not found any problems getting through the day and I spent a lot of time on the phone. The connectivity in range has been good; I have not found any problems operating within 30 feet or so and it seems like I can actually set my phone down and perhaps be 40 or 50 feet away from it without any problems. The one major gripe that Comes to mind would be with regard to Connecting with two devices. I have found that when I do this and I am in proximity to both devices everything is fine. However, if I leave the house walking away from my computer for example, the device will sometimes attempt to reconnect For a period of time making little beep tones and headset. This is the first Bluetooth headset that I've owned that has that capacity and so that issue may be fairly common. However, an improvement here would be nice as I'm sure this is fairly common for people who are active and on the go.In the end, these headphones are awesome! I have had them for about 18 months and they continue to work very well. I have noticed that the battery life may not be as good as when I first got them, but that too is to be expected but it is common that batteries will degrade over time. I am considering purchasing the new Open Comm model in the next week or so. I am primarily considering this upgrade because of the Bloom style mic; This will be a wonderful addition for streaming.Nonetheless, awesome headphones!
After 10 years out of the saddle I decided it was time to make a return to cycling, but being 10 years wiser I also realized I didn’t want to hit the roads again with headphones. Say what you will, but being deaf to traffic as well as drivetrain noise opens you up to getting mowed down by a car or letting your bicycles most vital parts get damaged, and so I resigned myself to hours of listening to the whoosh of the air go by. As luck would have it I saw an ad for these bone conduction headphones which promised I could listen to music while still maintaining my environmental awareness, and after reading through countless hit and miss reviews I decided I didn’t have much to lose, even if they were completely awful it’d beat the constant whoosh. MoreAfter 10 years out of the saddle I decided it was time to make a return to cycling, but being 10 years wiser I also realized I didn’t want to hit the roads again with headphones. As luck would have it I saw an ad for these bone conduction headphones which promised I could listen to music while still maintaining my environmental awareness, and after reading through countless hit and miss reviews I decided I didn’t have much to lose, even if they were completely awful it’d beat the constant whoosh. On my first ride I was blown away. These are truly fantastic. It’s true, the audio quality isn’t what you’d expect out of a pair of over the ear headphones at this price point, but these aren’t designed to be audiophile grade listening tools, and the sound they do transmit is clear enough to hear all the important parts of what you’re listening to. Now what’s truly impressive isn’t the sound you get from these, but rather the sound you don’t lose wearing them. Even at a comfortable volume I could still hear crickets chirping, the soft whir of my drivetrain, the sound of the rubber of my tires rolling over the road, and most importantly the sound of vehicles coming up behind. Not once was I caught off guard by a vehicle. In addition to being impressed by the ability to hear both my music and my environment I was also impressed by the comfort. At first I was unsure if the relatively large pad pressing into my temples would be comfortable, but almost immediately after pedaling out of my driveway I forgot I even had anything on. All the little details are as described in most reviews. The battery life is excellent and accurate, the buttons are small but easy to use, and the little guys are impervious to my massive amounts of sweat. If you’re in the market for a device which lets you enjoy your music, or whatever you listen to, while still being able to be aware of your surrounding this is hands down the way to go.
Solid exercise/cardio headphones. Wanted to give 4.5 but can't do that apparently, so 4 it is, since they easily got the 4 but didn't get the 5.I use these on my runs. They do sound a little "tinny" when you first turn them on, but still, I wasn't looking for Bose, just something to hear my podcasts and Pandora without struggling with a wire or buds that constantly pop out. I played with the volume on my phone and found around 60-66% is my sweet spot. One thing I've noticed and appreciate is that the sound doesn't seem to fluctuate in and out when I'm running, like would happen so much with earbuds. Once set, the volume stays pretty constant no matter my pace/intensity.When in use, I can hear my surroundings relatively well - enough to know traffic is coming when ... Once set, the volume stays pretty constant no matter my pace/intensity.When in use, I can hear my surroundings relatively well - enough to know traffic is coming when I'm about to cross the street, or hear a bike coming up behind me. If someone tries talking to me, I have to pause the sound to concentrate on them - that's not a knock on the headphones, just saying.Through nine workouts I've had one day of minor issues that haven't come up since.Days 1-2: two four-mile easy runs. I felt the headset bounce ever so slightly when I first started, but it felt like they quickly (within the first .1 mile) adjusted or fell into place or whatever, and I had no issues with them at all the rest of the runDay 3: 7.5 mile intense interval workout. At about mile 6, the sound cut out for maybe two seconds before coming back - not picking up where it left off but like someone had hit mute. It did it once more on the run before getting home. Once home and just before I took the headphones off, the bluetooth connection was lost and the sound started coming through the phone. The headphones were soaked with sweat, and I started to worry I'd gotten them too wet, but after drying them off, waiting an hour then charging them back up, they turned on and connected and played just fine. I also wonder if the bluetooth on my phone was having issues at that time, but I haven't had any problems with that connection before or since. I have not been able to reproduce any of this yet.Days 4-5: easy 4 mile and 5K. No issues.Day 6: Easy 8 miles. Light rain, I was leary about wearing them in the rain for so long after the other day, but it was a light drizzle/mist and decided to chance it. No issues at all, never once stuttered or stopped.Days 7-8: Easy 4 miles. No issues.Day 9: 5 mile intense interval workout. Remnants of hurricane were passing through all day. Rain was harder than during the long run the other day but still light, until towards the end when the main body started to move in. I was worried it was raining too hard and they'd short out or something before I reached the house, but they never once stuttered or stopped. As their website says, these headphones are water RESISTANT, not waterPROOF, so during light rains you should be ok to use these but during harder storms you should use your best judgement on taking these out. I wonder if I sweat too much that one day it had issues, and if so I'm glad they seemed to bounce back after a pat with the dry cloth and some airing out. And as mentioned maybe the bluetooth connection on the phone was acting up that day but that would have also been a one-off. I'd like to give these 5 out of 5, but until I can figure out why they might have been cutting out like that I'm knocking it down to 4.5.
I bought these several months ago from another retailer, and I had difficulty with a warranty claim, so I thought I would write a review. If you listen to audio while you are doing other things where paying attention to the environment is important, these are about the only game in town. You can run in them without getting hit by cars, you can listen to things in your office and still hear what's going on around you, you can go about your daily life and still participate, but that's about it.They are not overly comfortable, but they stretch after you wear them for a while and become less tight around your head. This is both good in the sense that the pressure goes down, and bad in that they can bounce while you are jogging or things like that. You can live with them ... This is both good in the sense that the pressure goes down, and bad in that they can bounce while you are jogging or things like that. You can live with them on though, I frequently had them on 16 hours a day. A lot of people ask if you can wear them with hearing aids, and the answer really is that it depends on how much of the hearing aid hangs outside of your ear. I don't wear hearing aids, but these loop over the top of your ear and rest on the pad in front of your ear, but don't go into your ear, so anything that goes into your ear should be out of the way for them. In fact, I will sometimes wear earplugs with these on while I am flying or don't want to hear what is going on around me. They interfere a little bit with my glasses temple, and sometimes rub against a hatband, but not a big deal. Most of the sound is supposed to pass through your jaw bone. In practice, a good chunk of the sound bleeds out of the side of the pads. Wearing them produces a significant vibration, especially at high volume. Regardless, bass is very limited, sound quality is not spectacular, and high-volume is relative, in that you cannot wear them in a loud public place and hear anything of what you are listening to.My single biggest complaints is durability though. I used these for about 7 months, and maintained them very carefully, but they broke at one of the temples. There is no logic for why they broke, and I assume it is a metal fatigue thing. They are just barely wearable now, because they no longer push the right pad against my ear, and eventually the silicone on the outside is going to break from bending around and they will be completely useless. Clearly they were still under warranty, and I filed a warranty claim, but I got absolutely no response for weeks. Then, out of nowhere, a pair arrived by mail. I wasn't even asked to send back the broken pair. I'm glad to have a new pair of headphones, but it would have been nice to have known they were coming.I would not recommend these to anyone who does not need the situational awareness they provide. There are times when I really do need that, but I have (cheaper) wireless headphones that have a transparency function and allow me to hear what is going on around me, I have (much better) over ear headphones that have much better sound quality - you can do better than these. They are definitely not worth the price.
First, I want to disagree with people who complain about the sound quality of these headphones. If you buy these headphones and are expecting the quality of a pair of noise cancelling over the ear headphones, you need to check your expectations. These are very inexpensive, bone conducting headphones, and for the cost and the type of headphones, they sound amazing! I have a pair of Sony WH-1000XM3s and they are by far the best sounding headphones I have owned, but they cost me almost $300 and I could never wear them running. The only quality the AfterShokz Airs are missing is the dept of the bass frequencies, but still for around $100 they still sound amazing. These headphones filled all my needs. These headphones keep the tunes running for hours, you barely feel them, and you can still enjoy your music while hearing the world around you.I recently ran a half-marathon with these headphones when it was 27 degrees F outside. I had to wear a winter hat to keep my head from getting cold and was able to wear the hat over my ears with total comfort. Surprisingly the winter hat actually made the sound better, as it help the headphones tighter to my head, and muffled some of the outside noise. No other earphones would have allowed that. Pod types would have been uncomfortable jammed into my ears, and over the ear types would have been muffled or I would have left my ears exposed to the cold. I have run for hours and hours on a treadmill, where my sweat builds up much faster, and these headphones were soaked at times, but they worked great, stayed in place, were comfortable, and they still look and function perfectly. All in all these headphones are well worth the money, and if you get a bad pair, give the company a chance to send you replacements. (It hasn't happened to me, but I have read a bunch of reviews about it.) For runners... get these now. Your running will never be the same!
This is my first experience with bone conduction headphones. As someone who generally tends towards high-end stereo equipment, I wasn't sure what to expect. I'll get this out of the way first: to me it seems the physical limitations of this technology will prevent it from ever coming close sound-quality wise to things that actually use the ear canal to transport sound over air. That being said, my experience was not unpleasant with this headset. My first time putting them on, the fact that bone conduction was being utilized didn't intuitively register with me until I popped in some earplugs, upon which the volume and quality both INCREASED.To move focus from the underlying technology to the headset itself...the standout here is the light footprint. They weigh next to nothing, are very flexible, and sit lightly on your temples with an all but unnoticeable pinch. My primary reason for purchase was to use while bicycling, to allow ambient noise into my ears while enjoying music. And for that, it performs just fine. One gripe I have is a limitation in the bluetooth functionality. It can be used as a stereo device (headphones), or a hands-free communication device (headset). When used with my phone, it plays in stereo mode just fine upon initial pairing and playing music. On Windows, though, it only played in the low-quality headset mode until I disabled the hands-free output device entirely. The stereo playback was muted otherwise, despite Windows registering it and sending an audio signal to it. In addition, if I set any application to use the hands-free for INPUT after this adjustment (to utilize the internal microphone), the stereo output was muted again until I removed any usage of this device. It's definitely not worth it to me to suffer reduced quality to utilize the internal microphone, but I found the existence of this limitation in the first place to be rather annoying. One other minor point of contention is the fact that if played at anything higher than a medium-low volume, the vibrations will start to get rather strong. You'll be able to feel the headset slightly moving on your head, and at certain frequencies it becomes prone to tickling. You may find this either novel or annoying, but over time I suspect you'll lean towards the latter.Overall, the cons are able to be worked around, and the headset is good for what it is. Provided you have other equipment in your arsenal, having access to such a lightweight bluetooth device with a different playback technology will likely prove useful enough to be worth it.
I have been using these now for 2 weeks or so almost straight through my day each day. these headphones are NOT for ppl who are audiophiles (which I am not). if the full sound of your music/audio is what you want with noise cancellation then don't shop these. You will be disappointed. if you are a melomaniac (someone who just loves music in general), or someone who constantly is hearing music in their head, regardless if you have headphones on or not, then these are definitely for you. think of them as a second set of ears for your music/phone, or think of it as your own background music for anywhere you go, only now you don't have to use that part of your mind to generate music constantly freeing up concentration while also allowing you to interact w/the world ... After you get used to this concept and have adjusted your transmitting device's output so you get the best sound quality you're looking for, these become one of the best set of headphones you'll ever own. I am honestly considering buying a second set just so I have another set to listen to while the first set is recharging (I like them that much). I barely notice I have them on my head, the microphones in them seem good as ppl do not complain about thinking I'm on a headset when on a phone call, and they just add the solution that someone is looking for if they'd like their own "background music" on while doing pretty much anything!these are my first bone conduction technology headphones I've ever purchased though I am very familiar to the concept from hearing tests, but I was very hesitant to invest so much in such a headset. I was worried that they'd have to pinch too much on my head making them uncomfortable to wear, but they are not noticeable after a few days. they will kinda "find their own place" to fall into place on your head. be aware from photos online how they generally go on your head, feel free to move them around here or there to try to see if you get better audio conduction and possibly less movement from them, but these are so light in weight I don't think you'll really even notice after a day or two. Just be willing to put forth the time to try to get used to their positioning and how they rest on your head.I am sure many ppl return these by the end of the day of purchase bcz of how different they are. I am sorry they do as they haven't given themselves time to get used to how they work. This is a different concept of listening to music. If you are going to buy these, give them several days to get used to and use them a LOT. They are unnatural at first and your brain will take some time to get used to how to use them, but the fact that I am NOT completely disconnected from the world around me but I still have my own background music through these second set of ears is just phenomenal. there's a bigger niche in the market for these than the manufacturer thinks if ppl just take the time to learn how to use these things.5 out of 5 stars. I highly recommend these
