I was given the Echo Show 8 Generation 3 device in exchange for my honest review. I’ve had an Echo dot since they came out and currently have 4 through out my home. We also have several Alex enabled tvs or fire sticks. You can say I’m a fan of the technology! I would love to have everything in my home voice controlled and I’m getting there with the help of Alexa. There are too many things to list what an Echo Alexa enabled device can do for you. To start as simple as telling you the time, weather, driving distances, store hours, game updates, to controlling by voice your AC, sprinklers, lights, cameras, and vacuum. It’s very handy. This is my first Echo with a display and it’s so much more fun. It is has an 8 inch screen and is a black charcoal color (comes in white too). We are keeping it on our Kitchen island so it can be used in the family room or kitchen as needed. They sell an optional stand that tilts and I will be getting that for more versatility. The quality of sound while playing music is very good and now I get to see the name of the song and artist as well as song lyrics scroll for most songs. I can ask for a recipe and see it on the screen and then touch screen to scroll back and look at it. I ask for the weather and it shows a visual including the days ahead and then it displays local news items from the city I asked about. It’s a very “smart” device. I now have a camera. I can drop in for a live view from my phone while away from the house and see my pet!! For security there is a camera cover that you can keep in place if you choose. It can also recognize family members once you set this up and customize the screen when they are near by. This plays a slideshow of your photos and can take selfies. I would like to have given this a 4.5 stars out of 5 due to the set up, touchscreen limitations, and lack of manual. I’m fairly tech savvy and not having any written directions or guide on how to use and what you can do with this device is a huge miss. My screen got stuck during set up and I could not find a way online to fix it and since the device kept repeating what you last touched I was ready to throw it. I called for help finally had to repeat my issue a couple of times and then after a factory rest we were back on setting up. Plan to have patience on the set up. I’m also not loving a 4 yes 4 finger swipe. I’m trying to get used to tapping everything twice not once as it repeats button button until you get it right. I have some things to learn for sure and a manual would be so very helpful. We were not friends to begin with and now we are developing a good relationship. I’m still in love with it and can’t live without!

I bought it too and agree with that recommendation, the Spatial Audio feature provides a rich and immersive sound experience, perfect for listening to music whatever I'm doing and seeing lyrics at same time, podcasts and even phone calls Very convenient video, sharp images. The smart home hub integration makes everything more seamless than ever, allowing me to control all my smart devices with ease. Alexa's responsiveness makes this device even more enjoyable to use on a daily basis. The installation and connection are very simple, making it easier for me to manage my home. Echo Show 8 is a valuable product. Highly recommended!

I am replacing my Echo Show 8 2nd gen with this 3rd gen. I’ve loved my 2nd gen for a couple years now - the sound is good, the responsiveness is great, and the size is perfect for my nightstand (it’s the best alarm clock). When I saw there was a new generation coming out, I was not planning on buying it. However, after setting up the 3rd gen, I can immediately tell the difference. The sound, which is the most important to me, is great - more rich than the 2nd gen. The best part of the 3rd gen however is the upgraded processor. It’s noticeably much faster than the 2nd gen and I’m loving it. I didn’t think it would make that much of a difference, but I definitely couldn’t go back. I wanted to love this echo show but it’s been more stressful than helpful. It has its pros and cons, but what doesn’t work for me might work for others. It’s beautiful and sleek and the screen quality is amazing but a bit large for me. I get the bigger screen is way better visually to watch videos and the huge speaker produces great sound, but it takes up too much of my counter space. The angled up position of the screen is perfect when you’re directly in front of it (camera zooms in and out when detecting people), but if I want a lower view (say of my dogs) on a drop in call to the house, all I get is a far away view of the ceiling. I had no problem checking messages and whatsapp but when I opened Instagram the audio on the echo stopped, started playing music from a previous music app, from there it went crazy going back to playing the Apple Music selection even if I had already closed it on my phone. WIFI connection has been spot on. My family likes being in the backyard and our previous “ok (search engine)” brand would constantly lose connection. This echo has not failed once in that dept. We will continue using it, training it and ourselves because our previous other brand has been acting up.

Our friend gifted us this Alexa Echo. It is a smart speaker that has become an indispensable part of my family. With its advanced voice recognition technology, it can understand and respond back to us. However, sometimes it just wont understand my commands and I have to repeat many times, which is annoying. We use this echo device for playing music, notify if someone is at my frontdoor, checking the weather, answering random questions…. Mostly we use it for playing music. The sound quality is excellent. Great size, we keep it at our window in the living room. You can use it independently or connect it to other devices. Overall, not very impressive but we enjoy having it.

I had the Echo Show 5 in my kitchen which I replaced with the 3rd Generation Echo Show 8. Wow! What a significant difference from the model I had. I love the 8-inch smart display. The display is noticeably clearer. It features a light bar so you can adjust the brightness. The images displayed are beautiful. I am impressed by how many features this model has. You can sync to all types of devices. I am in my kitchen for hours at a time and I listen to music. The sound is great. I cook and I am always asking Alexa recipe questions and the response time is very quick. The device was extremely easy to set up. There are privacy controls, so you can set up what you want and what you do not want. I am incredibly happy with the 3rd Generation Echo Show 8.

Beatiful screen with overall great experience.

I bought mainly for doorbell camera, but I still like some other features too, such as the possibility to DropIn. If the family accidentally silences the handy and my call is not noticed, I still have one more possibility to talk to them, by DropIn.It is probably the best smart display. Integrates well with my Tuya smart home devices.I don't use Amazon Music and Video Services because of Prime subscription does not makes sense in Switzerland. Unfortunately Alexa ecosystem is pushing hard these and I could not really circumvent for music or video playing. I tried Plex, but other than remote control a plex, I could not make it work. Maybe I just need to waste more time with it, then gradually discover new ways of using it.

Echo Show is phenomenal . Just do it!

I recently updated from the Echo Pop, to this Echo Show 8. It's a sleek looking 3rd generation touchscreen. I bought it for my disabled husband, who has dexterity issues when trying to dial via cell phone. Now he uses gross motor movements for the touchscreen or a voice command to not only call family but view them. The Echo smartly sits up by design to allow you to view it like a small television screen. Ive fallen in love with the device. Daily Im excited to ask Alexa to play music for enjoyment via amazon music, meanwhile the screen displays the lyrics in large print. The stereo sound is phenomenal. Visitors have been surprised to find the Echo is whats generating such quality sound. My husband now ask Alexa, "who's the artist?", instead of quizzing me. Lol. The big benefit compared to prior iterations, is you are not limited strictly to amazon devices. The perfect bedside alarm clock

I purchased this to replace my wife's ancient alarm clock on her nightstand. She can now tell the device what time to set the alarm (it changes each day) when she goes to bed rather than having to click through the times. That may seem like a lot of $ to pay for that feature, but there are other benefits too. I'm using the home hub so now she can control the smart lighting in our room from the Echo show. Plus her iphone used to make interference with the old clock radio speaker. Hopefully this has better shielding. So far no issues there. Nice to also set up for weather information viewable when she first wakes up, and Ring integration as well.
