The front and back-facing cameras are great and definitely are handy to picture something around the house. This is a whole lot of tablet for the money. Our family loves it, and we hope you do too. A quality tablet.

I purchased the Amazon Fire as a cost-effective tablet to use for online shopping, like QVC, view recipes and browse daily news. Everything worked fine until I tried to shop for groceries via Instacart. Amazon does not have an app for this, so I logged into my account via the Amazon Silk internet browser. Despite multiple attempts, I was unable to log into the site. Access to my account was blocked - no message, just a spinning wait cursor. Later on, I noticed when browsing news or any blogs with "conservative" views, I received the same spinning wait cursor. I tested the problem with several conservative political websites and the result was the same. I tested the problem with several conservative political websites and the result was the same. I also turned the Amazon Fire on/off several times; attempted to access news articles, etc. on different days, different platforms, including social media, with the same issue. I work in technology and know when I'm being blocked vs. having internet issues. The final straw was when I began having difficulty purchasing items from QVC through the Amazon Fire app. The first time I accessed my account was fine; however, all subsequent attempted purchases were blocked and did not go through. I had to access my QVC account via my phone and/or computer to reorder the items. Not only is Amazon blocking access to conservative, political sites, it is blocking access to sites that are competition for Amazon - shopping-wise. I returned the Amazon Fire yesterday and I will never purchase another Amazon tech product again. This is unacceptable.
For the most part I really like this Amazon Fire HD 10 Tablet. The tablet is very light so it is comfortable to hold. The screen size is great for viewing movies and such. The picture quality is great. The sound quality is pretty good for a tablet but since it has a headphone jack I chose to use headphones. The speed at which pages load is really quick. I love the Alexa feature which saves me a lot of searching time should I just want to know something quick like the weather. The battery life is fantastic, I haven't found anything that drains the battery quickly. The front and rear cameras are just ok, the quality isn't perfect but I have other devices for taking pictures. It charges rather quickly with the USB-C cable. I know I can pay to get them removed but I don't feel like you should have to do that. All in all I really this tablet, it does everything I want it to do, it's easy to use, and the battery life is great. I would definitely recommend this tablet.
The price on a Kindle Fire is the best thing about this tablet. I have owned a Kindle since they came out with the reader and overall it's good for me because I keep things relatively simple.I had to replace my generation 5 Fire with this one (generation 9) because the micro USB connector on my old one physically broke. There are some big differences between the two. The new Fire has a mini type C connector and uses a different operating system. You can't just take the SD card from the generation 5 device and put it into the generation 9 device. You can't read any storage device hooked to the generation 9 device unless it is formatted in the generation 9 OS. This is a backwards move from old to new. Does not make sense at all.I have the new Fire at about 90% ... MoreThe price on a Kindle Fire is the best thing about this tablet. First off, the Caseable voucher isn't a great deal. The case is flimsy and the company is terrible. It took two weeks for my case to arrive, even though they say 3-5 day shipping. I bought a $15 case on Amazon that is much better quality. The tablet itself is great. Yes, there are ads on the lock screen but they're not obtrusive and don't interrupt you when you're using the tablet. Yes, Amazon preloads it with their apps because it's their brand. I just put them all in a folder and forget about them. Every brand does this, so I'm not sure why it's being held against this particular tablet. It's a regular tablet, despite what one reviewer says. You can search, use apps, do everything a tablet does and it doesn't cost money to do anything (unless you wanna purchase ... It's a regular tablet, despite what one reviewer says. You can search, use apps, do everything a tablet does and it doesn't cost money to do anything (unless you wanna purchase certain apps, obviously). You can quite easily load the Play store on it, I did so in less than ten minutes. It's a very fast, beautiful tablet that I would recommend to anyone. It seems like some of the negative reviews come from people who have never had an Amazon tablet before, or who don't quite understand how tablets work. My one minor complaint would be that Alexa does not work well. It won't open Spotify or control anything , despite having set it up twice. But this is not a big deal for me since I didn't buy it for that.
Bought when it was a TSV so I got a great price. Set up was very easy. I'm not a tech person at all and I had no issues It was maybe a 3 step process. I use the tablet pretty much every day. The charge lasts at least a couple of days. I think with light use it'll last a week. I like how I can ask Alexa a question and she'll just answer, without me even having to push a button on the tablet to activate it. One of main reasons I bought the tablet is that I'm learning how to play the piano and I needed a tablet to set right on my piano so I could read digital sheet music and watch instructional videos. It works perfectly for that. The resolution is beautiful for all other things as well, such as playing Candy Crush or watching Netflix, etc. The only (minor) thing I ... It works perfectly for that. The resolution is beautiful for all other things as well, such as playing Candy Crush or watching Netflix, etc. The only (minor) thing I didn't care for was that the home page is automatically set up with a ton of apps I had no interest in, making it look very cluttery and also taking up all the room so that my own apps I downloaded were situated much further down the page, out of sight. To solve this problem I just created a folder on the homepage and dropped all those unwanted apps into it and cleaned it up. Much better. The only thing that could have made this purchase slightly better is if it came with a tablet case, which I didn't even think of when I bought it. But the TSV purchase price was so great that it was no biggie-I couldn't really have asked for anything else. I just quickly bought one from the "A" company for cheap and was good to go. I would highly recommend this tablet to anyone who's looking for a tablet but doesn't want to pay hundreds of dollars. From what I can tell, this tablet does everything I'd ever want it to do, and probably more because it has Alexa. As for those extras/bonus apps/services the tablet comes with (I don't even remember what they were now-I think one was a free thesaurus app or something like that?), they were of no use to me whatsoever, but perhaps you'll find them useful. These are my first impressions. If the tablet holds up over time with no technical issues I think it'll end up being one of the best items I've ever purchased on QVC, which is saying a lot because I've ordered probably hundreds of items on QVC over the past 6 years or so.
The upside: the screen is crystal clear, the device is fast and for the most part it was easy to set up and transfer my books to it. I have two other kindles, the 7" 2015 and the 7" 2017 and they are great for keeping in a purse or satchel for waits at the doctor's office or airports and such, but reading at home? I much prefer the larger version. The downside: I was able to easily set up my gmail account on this kindle, but, unlike the older versions, I could not get it to accept my local ISP email. I had to take it to the ISP and have one of their techs to it for me and even he found it tricky. Another issue is that while actively reading, the screen will start to darken, as if it's about to shut down, assuming it's inactive, and I'm not a slow reader. The older ... I have to "relighten" the screen every ten minutes or so. I also wish you had the option of dumping all the games and junk they load onto these, to give more room for books I want to read, but...that's the trade off you get, even with readers or computers going for a lot more money.I was able to create a custom case at Caseable at no charge, unlike the previous 2017 kindle I bought at QVC, which was supposed to be free, but when I tried to order it, Caseable wanted to charge me $39 (I bought a foldable case for it on ebay for $6). It hasn't arrived yet, so I hope it's what I expect, but who knows. If not, I will just buy one elsewhere for far less than Caseable charges. Overall I am happy with the purchase. I stepped out of my comfort zone and bought the white and really like it. Very clean and sleek. If you are wanting a kindle, this is the model you should get.
I bought this tablet as a replacement for my 2017 Fire HD 10 (It still works, its just the base Android OS (Android 5 Lollipop) that Amazon was using for its FireOS 5 on the device was too old to work with some of my apps.) Just like my last one you can easily add in the google play store to get access to many more apps(including one like Gmail and Chrome) as this has FireOS 7 based on Android 9 Pie. Don't expect it get frequent OS update like an iPad does( I would have not need get a new version of this tablet if Amazon would update the 2017 models to full FireOS 6 (Android 7 Nougat.)) I like that it now uses USB C and instead of microUSB even though I have to get a new 10' braided cable. It also has a new octo core processor instead of a quad core for better ... I like that it now uses USB C and instead of microUSB even though I have to get a new 10' braided cable. It also has a new octo core processor instead of a quad core for better performance which I do see. I still think for their biggest screen tablet it should have more RAM then the standard 8" they sell as another gig or 2 would fix the slowness I some time get some times (it not very often and not a real issue.) Knowing that they release a new model every 2 years I could not be surprised if the 2121 HD 10 will have more RAM. I like the that it comes in different colors. The front camera is nice that it has been bumped up 2mp to match the rear camera. It also has an extra 2 hours of battery life. Also you can now have up to 1tb of external storage still with a microSD card.If I had to give my biggest gripe it is when you have it locked into an orientation and an app needs the othe one that it doesn't go back to orientation you had it locked to like on FireOS 5 which means I'm having change the orientation all the time.If you are in the market a tablet for media consumption, email, web browser and light gaming. This device is perfect at $150 MSRP. But since it often times on sale it make it even better of a purchase. The price make it well worth a look compared to the overpriced iPad's. However if are looking something more in the line of productivity then look passed this and the iPads to surface device.
