I bought this Fire Tablet to replace an Samsung Android tablet that had reached its 'expiry date' due to not being able to update its operating system.This tablet (Fire) does not last 12 hrs when being used. I have bought a few of these tablets from QVC, HSN & Amazon directly. They are fabulous, I bought an additional SD card as well. I also have Apple products, but they don't give you an option of additional storage through an SD card. I am a member of Amazon Prime, SO worth it for their content, but for me. It's the FREE shipping. I order so much I'm surprised they haven't caught on how much money I cost them in shipping? lol Everyone I have gifted this tablet to loves it as well. I have downloaded so many movies & books that didn't cost me a thing, because of promotional credits given for 7 day shipping instead of 2 day. LOL I am hopeful if it happens again I can get it fixed or replaced.The size is perfect, it fit in my purse or carry on when traveling. The picture and sound quality for movies was excellent. The screen was the right size for viewing and you could control the light and size of fonts for reading. I had all my movie subscription & apps loaded and could watch up to 6 movies when flying on a plane before needing to recharge.. It charged quickly. I thought I would give this a try just to see how it works and it was a reasonable enough price point for me to take that risk. I also figured I could use it for streaming and use my iPad mostly for all the work I already do on it.Ultimately, the quality of this tablet pales in comparison to an iPad, let alone iPad Pro. This is my 4th Amazon Fire HD tablet. All my others were 32MB internal storage with SD card slot for up to 128 MB additional storage. However, this latest generation tablet no longer allows me to download Amazon purchased media to the SD card. Only allows download to 32 MB internal storage. The 128 micro SD card I purchased cannot be used for Amazon downloads. I verified this when I contacted Amazon tech support for assistance. However, this latest generation tablet no longer allows me to download Amazon purchased media to the SD card. Only allows download to 32 MB internal storage. The 128 micro SD card I purchased cannot be used for Amazon downloads. I verified this when I contacted Amazon tech support for assistance. I own an iPhone and an iPad so I am certainly not unfamiliar with electronic smart devices. I was interested in trying this Amazon Fire tablet because I liked the idea of an expandible memory. Set up was easy. But that is where the good part ends. Touchscreen response is absolutely awful! Yeah, maybe the resolution is good but what difference does it make when it is a major ordeal to get something to open or close. After uploading a few of my favorite apps, I thought I would browse around and I decided to use a streaming app. It took multiple tries to get an app to open. These Fire tablets are very worthy and usually offered at a discounted value for the patrons of Amazon services but anyone can use it just by making a password protected account with Amazon just as you would with Google, Apple or Microsoft. You don't have to pay for your membership but if you pay for Prime it's a plus for shopping if you use it alot and watch shows on Prime Video. It can also be used to interact with any of your apps or smart devices because it can be used as a control panel for those devices. Could help in an emergency if a phone isn't answered. All are customizable for your families needs. If you forget to shut off a light you can ask Alexa to do it from upstairs or downstairs. Very helpful for those who have special needs. Endless useful possibilities.
