I got this on sale $50 off so it was a great value have been looking to get one for at least a year. Being on sale sealed the deal. I have a 8 HD I got in 2017 which still works great but wanted to up grade. Only issue is start up seems slower than the 8HD and shutting down screens to go to the next search is not as easy just cannot get out of a site by X out. That may be a learning curve issue on my part. Also start up seems to take longer but picture quality is better. Over all a good value at the sale price would not upgrade at full price as the 8HD still works well. Which would I buy new it really depends on how much you use it and how big the difference is in price. Use it a lot and have a lot of apps and wireless charging is a big thing for you than the 10 ... This is a nice value tablet. It has better Wi-Fi and Bluetooth reception than the Lenovo 10e that some might also be considering. It also feels snappy compared to the 10e. I suppose the 10e is going into a deep sleep mode to preserve battery or something, but this Fire HD 10 Plus feels more responsive. This Fire HD 10 also has far superior speakers. Of course, you are stuck with Amazon's software, and they cracked down on allowing 3rd party launchers to fully replace the Amazon one. If you buy this, don't just connect it to Wi-Fi and leave it sitting unattended if you plan to use Fire Toolbox to its full potential. Even after the update, you can still use Fire Toolbox to add Google Play, Chrome, etc., it's just the launcher replacement and a few other features that you can't change at the moment. However, if you just use it for web browsing, watching YouTube, etc,, it's a nice inexpensive tablet that is handy and plenty fast for these basic tasks.

If you have last year model, almost no need to upgrade. It's but the same specs but has 1 gig of additional ram. If you want turn this Fire Tablet into a full blown (Almost) Android tablet the extra gig comes in handy. With that said everything else is the same, the screen seemed a little worst with slower gray to gray response time. I could see a slight hint of grey and swiping side to side. I have last year tablet and it was less noticeable. Less issue, no HDMI or fast charging using USB-C. Ultimately I returned this tablet after a week due to it's ghosting issues when swiping left/right. If it didn't have that I might have kept in it.

Functional, but slower than I expected - paid an extra fee to remove the constant ads. Seems Amazon's fork of the Android operating system is always awkwardly behind the update curve - plus they include bits that prevent several Android apps from functioning (like competitive apps - Chirp Audiobooks for one). BUT - I bought this primarily for an automotive ECM-flashing app - and for that, it gets the job done. (A bit of warning - this tablet's Bluetooth performance is a bit disappointing).
Good Points: Value for money. For the price this tablet is really excellent. Big screen, excellent battery life, colour and screen quality is pretty good. I can download google play (which I understand is a new thing for the HD 10 2021) which is great. I’ve not had any issues with it, I’ve used it everyday for reading, watching YouTube, shopping/browsing and just miscellaneous stuff! It’s been perfect for what I wanted it for and for budget price!Improvement Points: The only thing I really really despise is the advertising all over my Lock Screen. I feel like any opportunity and Amazon are using it to shove advertising down my throat. You can’t choose to deactivate the ads either (as far as I can tell). It also wasn’t made obvious that it would be that advert ... MoreGood Points: Value for money. For the price this tablet is really excellent. Just to be fair - before you purchase this, you should be aware that Amazon has their own user interface baked into this tablet. It is not your normal average Android G**gle Chrome interface. That being said, please also note that the lock screens have ads baked in. These ads will vary and do change from time to time. One has to pay $15 to Amazon in order to remove that "feature".Now to be honest - these tablets are very usable for my children. Nowadays, even 2-yo's are familiar with how to navigate most tablet interfaces; however, mine are older but still normally use it - YTKids, Y*()7()83, and oh, Huetoob (I don't want to really type the name.) I've installed G**gle on it as you might find the instructions on most social media (YT) instructables or articles. They even use it for distance learning - make sure you also install G-Suite after installing the G**gle environment because some school districts need it.Its quick enough and has pleanty of space to store all of their home made videos and photos. It's a solid performer. My only gripe is that the screen isn't prefectly flat. I installed a third-party glass screen saver on one of them and their was a huge gap/bubble. Not so much a bubble but an indentation on the screen where the screen protector couldn't adhere to. Not so much of a problem as it can't be seen when the screen is active. I don't believe the touch feature is affected as a result of this either.Advisement - you will probably have to wipe and restore back to factory once a year to clear all of the mess collected throughout the year. Just make sure you backup the vids and photos which can be copied to (if not already) on the microSD card. This does have a microSD card slot so you can expand the storage should you need.
Overall a very solid tablet. It is the best tablet in this price range hands-down so you can’t beat the value. The HD screen is actually bright and impressive for the price, I actually prefer it to some of the older non-laminated iPads. The battery life is great, and Amazon adopted USB-C long before Apple did. It does not come without its quirks and issues, however. Every few weeks it will suddenly forget the SD card and require it to be reformatted. You do, of course have the obvious limitations of Amazon fire OS, which, although its stable, lacks many of the popular apps out there. The YouTube app frequently has to be forced closed and reopened due to pixelation or weird glitches on the screen. Overall, though, for this price range, it’s a very solid option. It was my go-to tablet until I got a newer iPad.
The “plus” was worth every penny. There are three things to look at when considering a Kindle Fire. The first is RAM. The second is storage. The third is screen size. The four gigs of RAM makes this tablet haul. The regular Kindle Fire 10 has only 3 gigs of RAM. The extra gig in the plus is a game changer when well, playing games. I purchased the 32 gigs of storage, knowing that up to a terabyte of storage can be added in the form of a micro SD card. I wish it would have been available in the 64 Gig version though as most programs can only run from the native built-in storage. The last category is screen size. The 10 and the 10 plus have the largest screens available for the Kindle Fire. I haven’t taken it apart, but I’d suspect that they have a larger battery to go ... I was wore out before the battery needed recharging so that is something I’ll have to look into. With all of the positive things to say about the Kindle Fire, I have only this criticism and the reason for my three stars: Kindle’s App Store levels a lot to be desired. Some people want the Google Play Store, but I’ve had to do system resets to recover from malicious apps downloaded from the Play Store. If Kindle is going to keep the Play Store locked out, it could at least provide a decent selection of mainstream games, productivity, and Google or Microsoft apps.
This is from someone who upgraded from the original Kindle fire, so maybe I missed the trend of increasing ad's and useless garbage designed to be click-bait for the masses. Once my wife transferred her account to the new Kindle, Amazon recommended books for her that belonged in the back corner of a CVS- or an Adult book store. Alexa? GONE. Intrusive, even when you don't want it. It crippled the browsing experience all together. I disabled that after the first 30 minutes. It also took several attempts to get the account set up properly.I've always believed that good products / good hardware sell themselves, without the need of extra bloat and click bait. I ordered this twice from Very- the first one was a possible customer return (damaged box, and slight smear marks on screen) - but Very quickly put that right with free delivery on the next (brand new unopened) one.It is my first tablet - so I can't compare it to others. The screen is beautiful - very vivid colours. So get a screen protector or a case for this ASAP.It is fairly light to hold in the hands - although much heavier than my 6.7" Android phone. However in terms of display size - Netflix is MUCH easier to see on this versus the 6+ inch phone screen. It's also very thin - not ultra thin, but enough to not make it a burden to hold.Only a couple of niggles -1) No built-in "Google Play store" - but plenty of videos on Youtube to show you how to ...
