My AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D processor failed in less than 2 weeks of use and when it was working VirtualBox VM performance was atrocious. I did enable SVM mode (AMD-V CPU virtualisation) in the UEFI BIOS.Within 2 weeks of use, my CPU died. My PC hard shutdown, power cycled, and failed to POST. Tens of hours of exhaustive troubleshooting excluded all components except the motherboard and CPU as the cause. A local computer repair shop positively identified the CPU as faulty and the motherboard as working normally.Other components:Gigabyte X570S Aorus Pro AX Motherboard rev. 1.1 BIOS F4dTeam T-Force Dark Z 32GB (2x16GB) 3600MHz CL18 DDR4 Grey (TDZGD432G3600HC18JDC01)Corsair RM650iMSI GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER VENTUS OCI purchased the AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D processor from a ... MoreMy AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D processor failed in less than 2 weeks of use and when it was working VirtualBox VM performance was atrocious. I am super happy with the CPU. I think it is by far the best for gaming CPU considering the cost. This costs half of a 12900k but the delta on 1440p gaming or in VR is minimal. I have it under water cooling and with a few extra steps I have managed to slightly under volt it which allows it to keep higher turbo speeds for longer periods. Amazing product but make sure you have good cooling for it or your turbo speeds will last 10 secs and you will not benefit from it compared to a 5600X or 5800X.

I was very hesitant to stay on the AM4 platform, but I'm very glad I did this CPU is truly the best gaming CPU for AM4.I didn't realise how much of a difference gaming would be going from a 3600X to a 5800X3D, this cpu is an absolute beast and truly unleashes all the power of you're GPU.Highly recommend this CPU. The only negative about this CPU is it runs quite hot under full load even with a AIO, idle temps aren't too bad a little warm running at mid 40's as opposed to the 3600X runs at mid 30's. The gaming temp is perfect running between mid 50's - 6'0's.This CPU should last me a while still using the AM4 platform, so I won't need to upgrade for a few years.
Absolutely recommend if you have a ryzen 3000 or older and want to extend your build’s lifespan by another 5 years.
Upgraded from Ryzen 5 5600x ,the graphics card that I use is rx5700xt so for me the graphics card is the bottleneck anyway ( I knew that already ) but I can still see a lot less stutter happening and from what I can that 1% lows are a lot better , overall like this product a lot , I am going to upgrade the graphics card if I can sell this one for a decent buck maybe and update this review
It's interesting that an essentially 18 month old architecture running on an older generation PCIE 4/DDR4 memory and effectively a five year old chipset from AMD is on average slightly faster than a 5 month old architecture from Intel (Core i9-12900K) utilising much faster PCIE5/DDR5 with new chipset allowing much higher bandwidth. The 5800x3d is a very strong competitor for gaming-only builds. If you're a gamer and can't wait or had an older CPU like myself,( 1800x before) it would be recommended to upgrade. Otherwise wait till Zen 4 releases.Overall satisfied and won't be changing a CPU in the next 3 -4 years!
My motherboard (Gigabyte Aorus 570 Pro) is 3 years old so it needed a BIOS update first, which I forgot to doAfter that all went well
Brought my 2019 computer to current standards of performance. I had a 3700X before, performance gains are massive after upgrade to 5800X3D, in games like Cyberpunk it got rid of stutters and gave me massive fps boost. Respect for AMD for supporting old chipsets for so long. It runs very hot, make sure to have a strong CPU cooling, and even then, it will be pretty hot so you just have to get used to it (I have a NH-D15).I bought it for roughly 300 CHF, I see it's 569 CHF now - at this price point I'm not sure if it's worth it though. I would go for the 5700X3D instead (3 times cheaper).
Removed the bottleneck with this CPU.Very recommended.Update BIOS if you have a B450.
