A Great MacBook Pro With Potential To Grow!

I’ve read several reviews on this model of MacBook Pro and I think it’s a great choice for the price point and compared to how much the larger models and newer models cost. Yes it lacks the outputs of previous models and newer models as well, but I rarely use near the 512GBs of storage and they do sell several different models of adaptors that allow the use of three monitors for far less than what you can get the current model for. I purchased a 1TB hard drive for extra storage and I have two 4K monitors hooked up to mine with an adapter that I paid about $200 for. I got this on sale to begin with and that was really nice as the price paid for the adapter that adds support for three 4K monitors, but two is actually more than I thought I needed. I also purchased a mouse and keyboard for mine that are space gray and I’m currently in the process of buying a DAC as I can rip my Japanese MQA CDs from disc to files to playback on my Astell&Kern DAP. I can also stream MQA audio to other devices that support the audio format. That’s why I purchased this device to begin with. This is my third MacBook Pro and it is the smallest one I’ve owned, but I have never had a dual monitor set up with the previous two models and the M2 processor is really fast if you have access to gigabyte internet speeds. None of my previous models had as much memory and I was fortunate enough to get this when it was on sale. Apple has got to stop expecting people to buy new devices every 3 to 5 years. I’ll be the first to admit that Apple is pushing out new devices at a very fast pace and that’s going to hurt their overall business in the long run if they continue to stop supporting their older devices and expect their customers to buy new devices every 3 years. I am completely satisfied with this model and contrary to what some people have posted, the device is very relevant for certain task management. I have two different adapters for this MacBook Pro and one is very heavy and has the ability to add three 4K monitors as it’s powered by a separate power supply and has a large number of USB ports as well as a built in chipset and that’s how it can handle three external 4K monitors. The keyboard and mouse are Bluetooth so they don’t need USB power except for charging them up. I agree that this is kind of an of the wall model of the MacBook Pro, but it wasn’t a $2,500 laptop, yet it can still hang in their with the new and latest MacBook Pro models, if you have the right hardware. I also have a portable adapter that I originally purchased when I bought this MacBook Pro that is great for traveling with as it is small and portable and has enough extra USB ports to power the laptop, use an external Blu-ray drive and allow me to hook up my 1TB hard drive that’s SSD and still do everything else I want to do. The best thing about having this is I can backup my iPad Pros and not use up my 50GBs of storage space that Apple has so graciously provided for $3.00 a month. I prefer to use it mostly at home because of the convenience of two monitors and a full sized keyboard and mouse. I take the mouse with me when traveling as well. I’m absolutely fine with my MacBook Pro 13 inch 2022 as neither of my previous models had as much memory as this model does and it has the faster M2 processor.

Excellent Build Quality & Value for Money

After years of being a loyal PC & Linux user, I bought the 13in M2 MacBook pro to replace a 5 year old Thinkpad T480 I used for productivity (web browsing, email, editing large MS Word & Excel documents) and I've been incredibly impressed. If you want a productivity machine, this is a great buy around the $900-$1,000 mark. The build quality of the device is excellent, far better than the build quality of current commercial grade Lenovo and HP laptops. The device has a nice weight and thickness to it with smooth hinge operation. The keyboard is fantastic to type on, despite how low travel it is. Keys have a nice weight, tactile feel and decent sound. The keys are sized well for those of us with big fingers and well spaced.Coming from a PC & Linux machine, I like ... MoreAfter years of being a loyal PC & Linux user, I bought the 13in M2 MacBook pro to replace a 5 year old Thinkpad T480 I used for productivity (web browsing, email, editing large MS Word & Excel documents) and I've been incredibly impressed. Keys have a nice weight, tactile feel and decent sound. The keys are sized well for those of us with big fingers and well spaced.Coming from a PC & Linux machine, I like the light/touch bar. Especially in Microsoft Office Apps it provides convenient short cuts to frequently used items (like highlighting, bulleted lists and text alignment) that are hidden in the ribbon in the MAC OS version.Battery life is fantastic, so far for light productivity use I've been getting over 20 hours of use to a charge which is a game changer from the at-best 4hrs I would get out of 2 batteries in my Thinkpad.8GB of ram as of OCT2023 seems to be more than enough for productivity needs in MACOS. Coming from a PC with 16gb of ram I don't notice any difference or slow downs. Having several tabs open in Firefox along with a Word and Excel document open only seems to use 4-5gb of RAM.That being said I bought this with the intent of replacing it in 2-3 years if I find I need more performance.Storage wise, 256gb is enough for me. The device had around 215gb free when I first booted it and I'm used using external hard disks for storage from my Linux and Windows days. The M2 CPU is snappy with apps that are optimized for Apple silicon.I'm extremely happy with this purchase and plan on buying another Apple laptop to replace this when the time is right. That being said this is a secondary device for me and I have both a gaming rig PC and my old Thinkpad to use for my Windows and Linux applications. But as a primary productivity machine, this is a fantastic device.
