This would be my first Apple watch and I am very happy with the purchase. I am a hardcore Casio user, I own quite a few of them but I seldom wear a watch all day. I've grown used to just wear them when I go out. I traded in my apple watch series 5 simply hoping for improved battery life. OMG did this deliver in a huge way! AW5 had to go on the charger everyday 21:00 to 22:00 so I had use it for sleep tracking and have enough juice to get through a day, when it went on the charger it was somewhere between 15-5% battery remaining. AWU has been averaging 3 full days of use before it needs 60m on the charger to get me another 3 days of use. Garmin has been making extreme sport watches for over a decade. They are not the prettiest but they are solid tools.I returned my Ultra - briefly here's why: 1) it's enormous. If you don't have a big wrist it looks silly. 2) it's expensive for a gadget that will be technologically leapfrogged, probably by Apple itself, in a very short time -- it's not a long term "investment." 3) It doesn't do anything extra over an AW8 that I want a sport watch to do (Running is my sport), so why spend the extra money?The Ultra is a solid watch but if you are expecting it to do a lot more than a regular AW 8 you will be disappointed. Apple has a lot more work to do before Ultra catches up with the functionality of true ultra sport watches. If you just want a bigger face or different look for your AW though and don't mind the price then go for it.

Screen occasionally flickers while in an app now. Hopefully an update corrects this issue.

I opted for the trail band as the other bands had mixed reviews. One downfall is this watch is heavy and after extended wearing causes me pain on the little finger side of my wrist. Moving the band so the Velcro tabs were to the thumb side of my wrist helped a ton but didnāt eliminate the problem. Iāve owned several different watch of varied sizes and constructions and never experienced this sensation. A different band may a better option however, for an 800 dollar watch, Iād expect it to feel like angel wings on my arm. This watch has come into contact and banged up against steel on a regular basis. I have no screen protector or case for this at all. Recommend this for any tradesmen/tradeswoman looking for something that will last in the field. Battery life is great too.
