It has over nine billion pores per square inch that are each 20,000 times smaller than a water drop, while being 700 times larger than water vapor. This means that rain won't get through the membrane, but that perspiration vapor can escape through the membrane. Different iterations of this basic membrane principle are used in a variety products throughout the outdoor industry. RECCO RECCO Rescue System is a two-part technology. Ski resorts and mountain rescue teams carry RECCO detectors, which send out a search signal. RECCO reflectors worn in clothing bounce back a directional signal that directs the rescuer straight to the reflector. Unlike other technologies, multiple RECCO reflectors on a person can improve detection.

Nice heavy shell for winter sports. I use it for skiing and snowtubing. Could also be used as a rain jacket in Spring and Fall in the mid-Atlantic region. Love all the zip pockets, including the pit zips. No mesh liner in the pit zips, though. Interior chest pocket opening is barely large enough to fit my nexus 6 phone--it's a very tight fit. Once past the opening, though, it's the perfect size. This is a truly attractive and flattering jacket, especially if you buy your size. For layering in cold weather, however, I needed to go a size up. I'm normally a size small in any clothing brand, but needed to size up to a medium in this brand to comfortably fit a wool base layer, form fitted fleece mid-layer, and thin down sweater underneath. This is a shell (exactly what I wanted for maximum customizeability) so you must layer underneath to stay warm in winter conditions on a mountain, even on the east coast, unless you're acclimated to Antarctic weather. I also wish that it came in petite sizes. The medium covers my bum, which I like for the ski lifts, but the powder skirt comes down too low. I have to snap the powder skirt a little higher (across my mid to lower hips), creating a little bit of bulk in the torso. For reference, I'm 5'1" and 128 lbs. Dimensions are 33B chest, 29" waist, 34" hips. Athletically built. The hip and powder skirt widths were perfect on me. This jacket could accommodate someone who is a little curvier in the hips than me, but doesn't seem like it was designed for those who are pear shaped.

I was initially hesitant on this jacket because of the price, even on sale it was expensive. But! Its worth every penny! I originally bought it for the purpose of skiing, but it has quickly replaced every jacket in my wardrobe. I wear it to work on cold days, rainy days, practically everyday. I also wear it cycling, its lightweight and I don't get too hot going uphill, yet stay warm when I'm flying downhill. Bottom line: Its great for doing any outdoor activity, walking, hiking, skiing, cycling, you name it. Truly a year-round do everything jacket. My one con is that there is only one interior pocket. But that's really only a problem with skiing, and at that point, I wear a mid layer that has pockets, so its kind of a null point. Great jacket!

I really like all the details for the ski in this jacket. Also the cut is great, just long enough and the right amount of room to layer regarding the temperature. The hood fits over the helmet for really windy days. And the colour is sooo nice !
I'm 5'5", 130lbs and I first ordered this in a medium, thinking I'd want to put a few heavier layers under it for ski touring and the resort. When I tried it on, it seemed HUGE on me, so I sent it back to get a small. The small fit great, but I can't put as many layers under it without it being a bit snug around my hips. There is plenty of room in the arms in both the small and medium for a bigger down jacket, but the hips are where the difference is between a big down jacket and a thinner one. Totally fine and happy with the small for touring because I'm usually hot anyway.Otherwise, the jacket is wonderful. Super warm, great bright colors, waterproof, moves well, and at the discount price - it makes it "affordable!"
I'm in love with this Arc'teryx ski jacket! It's super windproof and waterproof, but it's not very warm by itself, so I layer it with some fleece or down underneath. I'm 158 cm and 45 kg, and the xxs size fits me perfectly. It's not too long or too baggy for skiing, and it still has enough room for me to move around comfortably. And the color and design are just gorgeous! I can't wait to hit the slopes with it next snow season!
What is there to say really? Arc'teryx makes the best technical shells and the Sentinel AR is no exception to this rule of thumb. The Incendia was the other shell under strong consideration, but the Sentinel ended up being on sale "biglier" - and this ended up being the final arbiter of decision making.. But if you're looking for a beefier face fabric (and seductive charcoal color), it's definitely worth thinking about as an alternative. It's probably worth noting to not get an insulated version (the IS), you want to layer instead. So the AR or LT..
Purchased as a shell for snowboarding. The jacket has withstood a wicked wind at snowbird this week, a cold sunny day, & a warmer day last week all seamlessly comfortable and as my husband likes to say "bomb proof". In the 2 weeks I've owned the jacket I've also worn it snowshoeing & skate skiing. My huge burton puffy (great deal from Evo too!) fits underneath (cold day), but wearing the shell with just a long sleeve under was great too. I love the hood which fits nicely over my helmet & I could even ride with it on (I've had to take off my insulated Patagonia jacket's hood while riding). The green color is nice & I think it's unique. The pockets are great for pass (in arm) & cards (inside), phone & keys (big outside pockets). I expect to wear hiking & cycling soon. ... MorePurchased as a shell for snowboarding. This jacket is marketed as their big mountain ski resort jacket and it is the 3rd Sentinel I've owned. I own the shell jacket (love it!) and have an old insulated Sentinel that I wanted to upgrade. Unfortunately this new model is overly generous in cut, both width and length. I'm 5'10", bought the medium and it hits me mid-thigh, way too long for skiing. I have an older version of the Patera city jacket and they are the same length! It's also very roomy and I'd worry that I would get drafts on a cold day and it wouldn't be warm. Sadly I will be returning this and shopping for another brand.
The construction and quality of the materials are second to none, as you would expect with Arc'teryx. I was lucky enough to snag this jacket on sale, so that cushioned the sticker shock considerably (thanks evo!). From the waist up, this jacket is spacious with plenty of room for layering. It's a bit tighter around the bottom of the jacket and around my hips than I would like, especially with baggier snowboard pants, but admittedly, my hips are a little bigger than most. That said, I have an athletic build and have plenty of room in the torso and shoulders, even with layering but still ordered up a size. One of the reviews mentioned this jacket not being warm, well that's because it's a shell. You really need to understand that a shell is not a stand alone warm ... MoreThe construction and quality of the materials are second to none, as you would expect with Arc'teryx. You really need to understand that a shell is not a stand alone warm jacket, it's meant to have layers underneath. Where this jacket earns its stripes is the waterproofing. If you live and ride/ski in the PNW, you can't go wrong with this jacket.
