This ascent feels more cushioned than the Apex, which was very hard under foot. This is the first school shoe (or any shoe for that matter) in 9 years that has rubbed a lot in the heel and my child is getting blisters on both feet in the same area on the heel, even with the heel lock, so something to look out for. We'll give them a bit more of a try, but might have to go with a different school shoe. Maybe it's the sizing as I wanted a 5.5, but got convinced on a 6 .

My son wears these for school and works and he said they are very comfortable. He had Clarks before but said these are much more comfortable. They dont hurt his feet and these are the 2nd pair I brought for him and also buying for his brother. We will highly recommend.

Great to be able to get a shoe narrow enough to fit my daughters long skinny feet. She says these are the best school shoes have felt in years.Would love some laces to be a little longer though to allow for heel lock lacing and to be able to still tie a bow

Great shoe for my growing boy. He had a slightly different model (same brand) that he outgrew after a year - it had very wear on the sole, but the upper took a beating. The shoe needed to be tough but also kind to his body for long and active wear. Great that I could buy online from The Athletes Foot. The page info has a lot of useful info to help me make a decision. The shoes arrived within 36 hours on rural delivery - freakishly fast! Thanks!
Absolutely love these shoes. They last my son an entire school year, while he goes through 3 pairs of runners. Still intact even at the end of the year. My son has an extremely wide foot, and they stretch to accomodate.
my order was delivered very quickly - thank you - however the condition of the shoes was poor. It definitely looked like someone had worn the shoes previously - and not just to try on. There was definitely crease marks from wearing the shoes for at least a day, as well as there being a scuff mark on the toe. Disappointing.
Great school shoes that look neat even with skinny legs and big feet. They last our lot until they grow out of them and there’s still lots of life left in them even then. They don’t fall apart and polish up as new despite being subjected to some crazy wear and tear. Local stores had sold out of our sizes recently, so ordered them online and they arrived in 48 hours. Impressed all round.
We've bought Ascent school shoes for all 3 kids throughout school. They're comfortable, durable, and last for ages. Bought online this time as local store were sold out and it was super easy and quick for shoes to arrive. These will be the final pair of Ascent school shoes to last the next two years (daughter's last ones wore out after four years)
My very active 8 year old son was fitted for these in store at The Athletes Foot. We were advised he couldn’t have the more sporty Ascent Apex because the sales assistant said his feet are narrow. I wish I had ignored this advice because despite 3 weeks of wearing them at home before school started, they caused severe blisters from day 1 and never became comfortable. He was in constant pain. His teacher had never seen such bad blistering from school shoes! I ended up having to buy him Clarks instead and he didn’t get a single blister.Avoid these shoes if your child likes to run around at lunchtime!
These shoes are very well made, they are formal enough for the school and casual enough for my son, the perfect balance. My son wears them for school and still manages to play sport during lunch in them. They have lasted a long time and have worn really well. We have now purchased a second pair as he has outgrown his first pair
