I bought these because I loved the Magic Speed 2s. The Magic Speed 3s just didn’t do it for me. The first 100 miles they were good. After 100 miles they seem to lose their magic quickly. They were the lightest shoe in my rotation, but lately they feel the heaviest. I’m just under 200 miles and the shoe doesn’t seem to have any power left in them. I retired them yesterday. They became frustrating to run on.

I have about 100 miles on these. I had the Magic Speed 2s. The 3s are an upgrade in some regards, but in others I think Asics took a step back. The show overall is pretty good. The upper is way more comfortable than the Speed 2s. The Speed 3 upper feels like it is ready for race day. I don't get the pinching from the lashes like in the Speed 2s. However, I feel like the Speed 2s were faster. The ride in the Speed 3s is nice and smooth. I don't feel the assistance from the plate as much as I did in the Speed 2s. The Speed 2s were snappy and wanted to go faster and faster. The Speed 3s are good at settling in at a strong pace, but not really wanting to go like the 2s did. That is why I did 4 out of 5 stars. Great shoe. Dual layers of FF blast+ is amazing, paired with the carbon plate makes this a great budget racer as well as a shoe for intervals and tempo runs. Only complaint I have is it’s a little on the narrow side and definitely a race fit so if you’re not using as a race day shoe maybe go up half a size. I really like that the outsole in the heel was extended out more than the metaspeeds which is awesome, I’d really like for the same to happen in the next version of the metaspeed sky/edge to extend the life of the shoe. I feel like the midsole foam from the metaspeeds eats away very quick once it’s exposed, but that’s not the case for this shoe.Overall I think this is the update that everyone who did not like the 2 previous versions were hoping for. Great Job ASICS!

I started with the Speed 1 and have stayed with the shoe as it progressed along its evolutionary line. I've retired the Speed 1 but am still using the Speed 2 as a daily trainer for my tempo days and the Speed 3 I'm using for races 10 miler and under. I'm a 190lb. runner and IMO it's a great 5k shoe, light and responsive and the fit is fabulous. Living in Florida it can be hard to find shoes that stay cool, but this one fits the bill. I would purchase this shoe again were it not for wanting to roll into the Speed 4. Zero complaints and actually think the Speed 3 is a marked improvement above the 2. Definitely recommend.
Just had first 5k ran on the new pair this morning. Super easy and improved my performance. I felt similar energy saving and speed boost as on meta speed sky. The previous model land more hard and require me to shorten step to reduce landing impact. This new model allow me to step further away without any affects on impact. I can’t stop from running at faster paste. However, I noticed more shake of body upon impact. But this more visible shake don’t make my knee or heel feel any pressure.
Been running off and on for 30 years......became serious about running about 5 years ago and decided to try the "super shoe" .For carbon fiber shoes, I've ran in the Nike Vaporfly, Vaporfly 2 and 3 and the ASICS Metaspeed. I returned the Nike Vaporfly 3.....my feet DID NOT LIKE THEM.This is my 2nd pair of Magic Speed 3's. Great, light, FAST Carbon Fiber shoe, and about 100$ less the the shoes mentioned above. Might just have to pick up another pair and put them in the closet to pull out when my 2nd pair are retired!
These are awesome shoes for running fast, but that's not all they're good for. These are great shoes if you're looking for a plated training option and could definitely slot into your daily rotation. I ran this morning in the old school GOAT in the fast daily category the Pegasus 35 turbo and then took these out for another run later in the afternoon. Love the light weight snappy feeling you get in these. The FF Blast+ foam is cushioned, but very responsive so this shoe was nice to run in at a fast pace and a slow to moderate pace as well. The Magic Speed 3 does a great job keeping your feet turning over and this is a great daily plated option for me. I'm a hybrid athlete and am 6ft and 210lbs for reference.
Have now had a couple of short runs in these shoes, they look brilliant, feel reasonably quick but run small. Tried them on when they arrived, felt snug but ok, but now that ive run in them im getting some numbness in my right foot due to a bit too much pressure around my toes which will prevent me from using them much. Pity Asics doesn't have a return policy like Nike as I'd be swapping them for a half size up and my review and experience would be totally different. They look well made are nice and light, just go up half a size from your usual, I've never purchased size 11 before.
Bought these to do shorter distance running (mostly intervals and 5Ks). Could have gone with more of a daily trainer but was seduced by the carbon plate do it all shoe concept from watching reviews. I can tell you that these don't disapoint in the performance area. They almost prepels you forward into th next stride. They're very light and extremely responsive. The upper is etremely breathable. Almost transparent in the white colorway (can see your sock color through them in the toebox). I have fairly normal to slightly narrow feet and I had to size up a half size (Mens 12 to 12.5). I think it's a combination of the show being slightly short and the tapper at the end of the toebox. In my regular size it felt like my big toe nail would wear through the fabric ... MoreBought these to do shorter distance running (mostly intervals and 5Ks). This is by far the best version in this series. Light, super breathable upper, good cushioning, and the carbon plate is well designed. Had to go on a trip and forgot my other shoes, so, ran anywhere from 3 mi fast to 16 slow and this shoe did well on all. Not super squishy, which I like and no problems with lockdown and great upper. Very light as well, this shoe is really a good deal in the carbon plate market. I think it's only downfall is the minimalistic tread. I've put 50+ miles on this shoe, and I'm giving it until 100, then it's a goner. But, overall I was impressed, I did size up 1/2 and it fit perfect.
