Astro A20 Wireless Gaming Headset Gen 2 for Playstation

To provide some context, I use these headphones for casual First-Person shooter gaming. Headphones provide good directional sound, allowing you to hear your enemies footsteps. Quality is good enough and volume can get really loud. I have also gotten good feedback on the microphone quality too. Let's get to the downsides. At this price point, I would have expected Bluetooth connectivity at least. While these are still wireless, Astro has opted for a USB receiver setup instead. Eventually after messing around for about 10 minutes, I was finally able to get it working on my PC. Build quality of the headphones is also questionable. To keep the headphones light, the entire product is made of plastic. Whilst this is not uncommon, the lack of portability gets some point reduction in this area. These headphones do not fold for easy portability or storage. So be sure to have enough room to have these lying around. No complaints on comfort, played for 2+ hours with no issues. Overall, the headphones are good for gaming once you can overcome the challenge of getting them connected.

A whole new level of gaming

Let me start by saying that this is the ONLY gaming headset I've ever used, so I don't have anything to compare it to. But after my experience with it, I don't think I'll have the need to use another gaming headset. Right off the bat, I noticed the packaging was pretty impressive. Very premium. Setting up the headset to use with our PS5 was fairly simple. Where this headset really shines is the sound quality. WOW! I was able to hear sounds in my game that I've never heard before, and in a very surround-sound type of way. The part that goes across the top of your head is made of a smooth flexible material, not hard plastic, like I would've expected. The earphones are padded with a memory foam type of material, which makes for a pleasant wearing experience. I've worn this headset for upwards of an hour and half at a time, and never found it to get hot or uncomfortable to wear. I like that the microphone piece can fold up when not in use. My only tiny beef with the headset is that it doesn't have a battery level indicator that I'm aware of, which would be extremely helpful to know when I'm going to need to charge it. Overall though, this is a GREAT gaming headset, and I would definitely recommend it.

Decent gaming headset

I bought this headset to replace my previous Xbox One wireless headset that was not compatible with the Xbox Series X. After having used the prior one for YEARS, I was disappointed to have to buy another set. The prior required a Digital Optical Output which is not present on a Series X console. The A20 uses a USB dongle for connection to the console. That being said - I find the A20 to be a decent mid-range headset.Pros - I found it to be extremely simple to hook up and get going. Completely wireless is the only way to go, IMHO.Cons - While I do find the sound is 'good', I do find footsteps to be less noticeable than with my prior headset (although having recently changed from COD Cold War to Vangard, I find them to be less obvious in Vangard overall). Directional noises are pretty decent though. While the headset is very comfortable, for me, I'd like just a bit more room to adjust the headband slightly higher (although I do have a pretty big head) so the earcups would be a touch lower on my ears (make sense?). My last headset had separate volume controls for game sounds and chat - the A20 does not, so all sounds must be adjusted in Game Settings, not on the headset itself, which was much nicer. My BIGGEST gripe with the A20, is the lack of voice/mic monitoring. By this, I mean the ability to hear your own microphone in the headset. It's like wearing headphones or regular earbuds at a decent volume when listening to music and trying to talk to someone. You aren't really sure how loud you are talking - your own voice is muffled to yourself. If I hadn't had my last headset, or you have never had this feature, you may not even notice this. I dd have this feature and it annoys me to the point that if I would have had more time after purchasing these, I would have probably exchanged them for a different model to compare. I used them probably twice and then left town until my return window had passed. I am getting used to this though. It's not terrible - just very different than what I have been using for 7 or 8 years - and I have been using these for about a month. Oh yeah - included directions are virtually USELESS. I went online to figure things out. Once you know things, the directions make sense but before that, not so much.I have seen Quality comments about the A20, but I find them to be of good construction feel. My last set was 'known' for cracking issues with numerous complaints but I made it through 7 years with only minor issues eventually showing up (that were easily remedied) but I am not rough with my headsets and I'm not a kid - so experiences may differ. These do feel more solid than my last headset though.Overall - good headset. Not perfect, but good. The long CON section is not about more Cons - just trying to explain them in more detail. Cons are more important to understand well. The Pros are pretty self-explanatory.

Do not BUY until you read

Long story made short I finally got a hold of a PS5(Thank you Walmart) and I went looking for a new wireless headset for it. Walmart had to highly reviewed headsets in stock so I went with the Astro over the Artis 7P (Big mistake). The install went find with not to many issues. The only disappoint was the sound wasn't premium at all like some online reviews made it seem. I have cheaper wire headset with way better sound. Everything else like fit and battery life were as advertised.The problem came when it was time to update firmware. Right now unless you still have to old software installed you won't be able to update. Now when you go to the Astro site to get software it runs you in circles for the A20 firmware. Bad support from Astro makes buying any of their products risky.If they ever address this issue I will do a follow to review.*Since you can not update Firmware it makes using for PC like it advertises not possible.

These look great, the colour is nice and they are made of strong materials, so should last longer than most others.They are really comfortable to wear as they have plenty of padding on the ears as well as around the top of the headset.They have a built-in battery that gives more than 15 hours of battery life, mine have lasted slightly longer than this so far, and can be recharged through the USB-C port.The sound is crystal clear which makes gaming more enjoyable. The mic is easy to use as you just flip it up to mute it.There's easy to access buttons on the side. I have been using this headset for around 2 weeks now and have been impressed with the quality of the gaming sound. The headset is a little bulky but that being said it feels extremely sturdy which is a good thing, it has the feel of a top quality item.It took no time at all to charge and I can quite easily play for 10-12 hours without needing to recharge them which is fantastic. Looks great

At first trying these out I was skeptical, played with the settings and sounds and I must say well worth it. I payed 100, I wouldn’t pay no more then that for a headset in general, but there are worth every penny. The best sounding and best looking for both console versions. No complaints you won’t be disappointed. These are perfect. I like the full on loud environment and it captures that. I was torn between these and the Sony branded but I’m glad I made this decision. The look of these are nice. I always brought cheap ones now I see what I’ve been missing. Would recommend and purchase another one if these broke can’t get any better.

The worse headset sold to me

My dad got me this headset for christmas and i should say its the most unusable, unfriendliest, and struggling headset i've ever used.The headset in general is nice and well padded and the design is very pleasing. But is very confusing to use, and takes some head scratching to workout.The audio is very poor with no bass and you cant even hear the kick drum when listening to music. The microphone is trash the audio is like the video, having a tow over the microphone.The ACC software and firmware updating is completely bad, doesnt update as it should, and you can't get anything to work passed the firmware section to get passed the gain control.By Far one of the worsed headsets i ever got, and would avoid buying.
