This is not entirely ASUS’s fault as Qualcomm has decided to push this generation’s GPU performance even higher at the cost of higher power draw and heat. But it would be great if ASUS improved on cooling design of their phone and external fan cooler to efficiently dissipate more heat with minimal loss in performance. So far, Genshin Impact is the only game that heats up the phone the most and thermal throttles. I use AeroActive Cooler 5 to keep the system temperature at 41C on average and maintain sustained performance. Other coolers might work but ASUS’s cooler specifically attaches to the phone’s dedicated connector and unlocks the highest level thermal limit in the software.

For the price of the phone, it doesnt offer major differences from the ROG3 that i had. Now when i got the rog3 it was great, but then the screen just went black and would not fix no matter what i did. I ended up having to replace it, and decided on the Rog5 as i couldnt find a brand new rog3 online to buy that wasnt a reburbished one.It feels similar, and performance is very similar too, but it heats up much quicker, only about an hour of use and its hot to the touch. Also, the charger and cable stopped charging properly and ive only had it for under a month.I really dislike the top and bottom status bars that pop up when you touch the top or bottom of phone while using it in landscape mode. This is why ive given it 2stars due to the functions on the rog5 being ... MoreFor the price of the phone, it doesnt offer major differences from the ROG3 that i had. Great phone, battery issue/concern with model
25 September 2021

The ASUS ROG phone 5 has absolutely blistering specifications at a reasonable price point. However, I believe I have an issue with my model specifically concerning the battery. As it drains much faster than expected. I have heard that the battery has lasted up to 2 days on light use with no gaming. However, it has only lasted 8 hours light use (no gaming, surfing internet) even whilst I have every battery setting optimised. Furthermore, the battery life estimation seems to drop as I use it. Sometimes it will state it will last for 1 day and 14 hours. Then a hour later. Change to 12 hours. I suspect there is a malfunction in one of the feels of the dual batteries. But am unable to perform my own inspection without breaking the phone (or warranty for that matter) ... MoreThe ASUS ROG phone 5 has absolutely blistering specifications at a reasonable price point. However, I believe I have an issue with my model specifically concerning the battery. Albeit the structural integrity being decreased as a result of the battery orientation. If I didn't have this issue. 4-5 stars!

I'm very disappointed đŸ˜”
23 February 2024

I am very disappointed that Asus Rog phone cannot be used properly due to malfunction. Three times during the warranty period Rog phone had to be sent to the service center due to malfunction. *The phone is still in the service center*. As there is no service center in Kerala state, there was difficulty in sending the phone to Tamil Nadu service center after traveling 170 km. I am very worried that I am not able to use the phone for three months during the warranty period itself. The manufacturing defective phone is likely to malfunction again and I request you to provide me with a new phone considering the financial loss, time loss and other inconvenience caused to me by using the defective product.RMA numbers: INS5RC0024,INS5S10087,INS5S20067.

Over all performance is good(need to improve some)
19 December 2022

Overall performance is great(performance beast),But finger print sensor is not working well, every time after so many attempt it's failed to unlock, you have to enter pin to unlock. And little bit touch issue on all corners of screen. Also fell bit lag in BGMI in 90fps settingsRequesting you to. improve these all things. As who ever person using Asus Rog it mease they preferred ROD over iPhone.Because in Android platform there is no competition with Asus ROG.So above mentioned points are basic need .Please do the need ful

ROG Phone 5 is the way (even in 2024)

This is the BEST gaming phone in the ROG phone series. And I own the newer ones as well.Dont even look at the specs and think if they're good enough for 2024 , this is already overkill for what mobile games require and will be for a long time. Its powerful, SLIM and secretly an AUDIOPHILE device as well. Not to mention TOUGH. Bought my device on April 2021, I put it through very long hours of gaming and carried everyday in my pocket or bag with my other two phones (Z fold and iPhone). Dropped, splashed, RAGE SMACKED AND TWISTED. And NOT ONE SCRATCH or CRACK ON THE SCREEN TO THIS DAY.I never thought my toughest phone would be a gaming phone.Best for gaming, obviously. But can be a daily driver as well. And best part is that its cheap now at the time of this ... MoreThis is the BEST gaming phone in the ROG phone series. Editing in Devices are more convienient then desktop..Im not asking all of that at once.. but for starting fase, we atleast want our own app that we can truly call our ROG editer..

The Good:This phone works exceptionally well as a mobile gaming device and mobile internet access point (The 5G data is incredibly fast). It is highly responsive, has a good battery life with 6000mAh and has highly customisable performance to suit your needs (better battery life, higher refresh rate, higher processing speed). Since all Australian carriers are dropping 3G in the coming years this phone will lose its calling capability completely. There is a possibility that it may be added in a firmware update but as of 10/2021, it has not happened. Conclusion:If you want a mobile gaming device, a professional android device to run external equipment and/or wifi hotspot with good reception and data speeds then get this. but DO NOT get this if you need it to be a phone as well.
