It really was plug and play. Recorded CDs without any faults unlike my old drive which had lasted a couple of decades. Very small format, little larger than the actual CDs.

The actual item was all that it was described as abut I had purchased it for my 2020 MacAir and had to return it as my laptop didn’t recognise it, the install disc was only for Windows and I couldn’t download a driver from the Asus website. Disappointed it didn’t work in my case.

I bought this 2 months ago, mainly as a second drive for my iMAC, I already had the apple superdrive and was not that impressed. But this little beauty has supper impressed me. It kicks goals over the apple drive. So much quicker. The only fault I can fin is that the eject button on the keyboard doesn't work with this drive but that's not an issue. Highly recommend

Pros: Easy to set up - plug and play.Very small - not much bigger or thicker than a CD case. Recorded 10 Cds perfectly unlike my old drive which I think had worn out after 20 years and was rejecting discs.Cons: Nothing so far.
It works fine out of the box for my iMac although the extra software is only for Windows. I just found the door opening feels cheap. It opens Ok but only about a third of the way. Plus even with the footpads it seems to vibrate a lot but if you use it to record it runs fast so this doesn't take long. I guess I am comparing to an older unit I had which was heavy and bulky but seemed 'more solid'.
Very happy. Worked straight out of the box and even had a bonus USB C connector for our latest iMac. Nice boxed packaging and very Apple like appearance. All my old CDs of photos played perfectly and was able to seamlessly import into Mac Photos. Just be careful pressing discs into the drive as on the desk the tray is very delicate. A great little buy at a great price.
It was easy to install ,however , it went a bit haywire when I put really old computer cds in .( my old vista system finally died and I upgraded but needed to get a drive to read old cds and dvds.) I contacted the support group and they were really great .Im now getting on with trying to see whats on my old cds and dvds. Love it
Connected to a MacBook Air or a M1 Mac mini, the drive was unable to read one of our DVD's. We borrowed an Apple DVD drive and it was able to read the same DVD without any issues. The drive isn't fully Mac compatible - lots of reports of the same issue in Mac forums (should have read those first)
This simple to operate DVD player & recorder, connects to my Laptop by USB port & requires no external power supply. I can use the same DVD recorder on different devices, connecting via either USB or USB-C. I am finding it to be very versatile.
I wanted a drive to load up CDs and DVDs so that I could keep them on a hard drive. At first I thought the drive was not working as it does not appear in the Finder, but when a CD was inserted iTunes saw it. I don't know whether it is possible to write on the ABUS but it does what I need. The software that came with it, with various applications, cannot be used on a Mac and apparently no iOS versions are available. I checked on the ABUS website and found nothing suitable.
