Audix F6 Fusion Dynamic Bass & Kick Drum Microphone
Don't just hear your bass. Feel it with the Audix F6 Kick Drum Dynamic Microphone. Thanks to its discrete design this microphone guarantees perfect placement, even in the most complicated of set-ups for solid, consistent recordings at all times. At the heart of the microphone lies a hypercardioid polar pattern, this means that recording with the F6 is as easy as positioning the microphone in front of your kick drum and hitting record. You'll be guaranteed exceptional off-axis rejection from undesirable noise and ambience. All resonances within the kick drum and bleed from surrounding sources are minimised for the finest results possible. The F6's tailored frequency response allows you to achieve record-ready results without the need for additional equalisation. A low-shelf introduces a great deal of low-end energy to add "body" and "weight" to your source, whilst the subtle mid-frequency dip reduces compensates for any "boxiness" introduced by the close-placement. Thanks to the high-frequency boost you'll be guaranteed plenty of "presence" and "attack" to ensure the kick grounds the arrangement. Become the engineer that gets the call thanks to Audix.

I bought this unit to replace an older model of the same microphone. Has good dynamic range and plenty of punch for the blues/rock band I play for.

I bought this primarily to use as a cajon mic; to use mounted inside of the drum. I didn't want to invest a ton of money in a specialty mic and this one was on sale for a good price. So far it has done a great job at picking up the bass end but you would probably want to add a second mic for the higher frequencies (which is no surprise). It seems well built and sturdy, a good size for mounting with a clamp inside of the drum. The sound is clean and I haven't had the same feedback problems that I sometimes have with other mics on the cajon in live performances. I haven't used it a lot yet but my initial impressions are good and I think it will do what I need it to do.

Great mic for the money, it of course isn't going to sound as good as Beta52 or D6 but with some eq and compression it'll get the job done for your kick drum. Works well out of the kick for boom and in the kick for attack. Also used it to mic a bass cab and it did very well with that. I'd say if you are looking for a cheap bass mic that still performs well for home recording or gigging, this is a great choice.

This is a great Kick Mic, I had been using one that made all of my bass drums sound really muddy and had to do a lot of work in post to get it to sound right, this one is right on the mark, has a really nice round low end, and good punch in the highs. It's based off of the Audix D6, and comes really close to the sound that mic gives, I would definitely recommend this to anyone that needs a good kick mic, but is tired of the same sound that other go to kick mics have, like the beta 52, and D112. Also works great for bass, and can even be used for guitar to give a nice low end to the mix.
I really like the sound it produces. Great product. I am using this on a bass amp and it handels this hi's, mid's, and low's very well.
I bought two of these mics for my kick drums. I had a pair of CAD kbm 412 mics and I wanted to up grade. I like the sound of these mics they have a good click sound when they are next to the batter head, and a good boom when they are on stands out front. It's all about what you like and I like these time will tell
This mic has a nice pre EQed curve that produces good definition with minimal bass drum boom. The sonic signature is similar to the D series bass drum mic. The output of the mic is pretty low but sufficient for use with any modern mixer.
Nice attack, scooped mids and beefed up low end. I have 10 kick drum mics to compare the F6 to in my studio. Sturdy and heavy weight for live gigs. Would sound great on a floor tom as well. Tried F6 in my studio. Liked it, but not as much as EV PL33, Beta 52. BUT, still a good budget or back up mic for a young player starting out on a budget.
Don't confuse the F6 kick drum mike with the Audix D6. The D6 is simply one of the best plug and play Transducer Type kick drum mics you can get with a Cardioid Polar Pattern and Frequency Response of 30 Hz - 15,000 kHz for the price. The F6 has a Hypercardioid Polar Pattern and a Frequency Response of 40 Hz - 16.000 kHz and is an "affordable" alternative the D6. While the D6 is my go to for kick drums, I purchased the F6 for my 36" Gong Bass and it compares favorably with the CAD D12 (Cardioid Polar Pattern and 30Hz -12,000 KHz Frequency Response) I've been using and the Sabian SK1 (Bi-directional Polar Pattern and 30 Hz -12,000 KHz Frequency Response). The wider frequency range on the F6 results in a much richer resonant boom with no noticeable loss on the low end, of course your mileage may vary. While there are much higher end mics out there, their price tags make me reluctant to expose them to the rigors of the road. Both the Cad and Sabian have attached plastic mic clips that invariably break when abused and the Audix mics are literally bullet-proof. In a perfect world, I would use the D6 on every deep-tom on my kit, but the F6 gets the job done for much less then the Cad D12 and the Sabian SK1. The bottom line is that the F6 is a work horse at an affordable price.
I've been an Audix fan for many years. Vocals and instuments sound good with little EQ work to get there. The D6 has been one of my main go to's for live sound. I had started adding a Shure SM91 with the D6 to give a little more snap to the kick. Someone pointed the f6 out to me after hearing the sound I was getting. After making the purchase I was looking forward to the true test of how well it worked with my system. My next show the drummer shows up with a kick that had a solid front head. Oh well. no killer kick sound tonght I thought. I placed mics on everything and ask the drummer for some kick, expecting to perform a salvage job. First hit, straight up, it punched the system. I was amazed. I've used most all of the different big name and middle name kick mics ... MoreI've been an Audix fan for many years. I was amazed. I've used most all of the different big name and middle name kick mics thru the years. Arena systems down to the club event. This mic has the sound I want at a fraction of the cost. It gives the tight bottom you need to rock the subs as well as the upper snap that gives it clear definition. It is by for the best kick mic for the money I've used, even better than many of the big dollar ones. Another plus for me is that it is made in the USA rather than farmed out to save cost of manufacturing. Thanks Audix
