I LOVE the new Battletech sculpts! I don't game anymore, but I still enjoy collecting, painting, and modeling minis. I got exposed to the Battletech universe through PC and console games, and the old sculpts always seemed outdated. These new sculpts are impeccable. As a person who enjoys modeling and painting these are great. My ONLY complaint is that I wish that they had used a slightly softer plastic to make it a bit easier to remove what little flash is on these. It's not much, but I am overly picky when it comes to flash removal. The plastic is just a TAD too hard to be easily trimmed, but it's ok. I still rate these minis A++. I feel that Battletech can easily be played with your kids if you want to introduce them to mini wargaming when compared to other game systems. Granted, some things have to be referenced, but every game has that. Battletech's rules are on the simpler side compared to other wargames. So, I give high marks there too.The new line of Battletech products are A++ to me. Get these even if you're just interested in collecting and painting them like me. They're gorgeous and look more realistic from an engineering and military perspective than the older sculpts. In my opinion the detail level has gone up an order of magnitude.Another good point is the price. I have 5 rather large armies from Warhammer, and 8 also rather large armies from Warmachine, so I know what I'm talking about. lol Getting into Battletech is VERY cheap in comparison, but the quality is superb. I know, I know, I keep gushing over the minis, but they're just so beautiful. I can't help it. lolI hope this helps someone make a decision. :)Cheers.

There is a lot in the box that I won't use, like the cardboard cut-outs and maps, as I prefer 3D terrain and models. The source material is good but you can also find it online. The models are really nice, as always, having excellent quality and detail. I am glad I got it on sale.

What really impressed me about this set is the rulebook that expands the base game of Battletech. In addition to a description of the invading clans, you get construction rules for clan omnimechs and inner sphere 3050ish mechs, rules for elementals, an introduction to the strategic force building, and rules for clan honor tactics. Great addition to the Battletech game system - you'll need Battletech: A Game of Armoured Combat as this is an expansion not standalone rules. It comes with Clan Mech models, rules, map sheets and all the usual stuff you would find in a Battletech starter box. Bonus is it has cards for Alpha Strike as well.
A lot of mechs. A lot of additional rules, information, background on the world, even a short story to introduce you into the Battletech world. Highly recommended!

The BattleTech: Clan Invasion Box Set continues the higher quality standard standard set by Catalyst Games Labs. The plastic miniatures continue the higher quality standard compared to previous generations of the BattleTech box sets. The set also includes beautifully detailed map sheets and I particularly enjoy the terrain punch-outs that allow me to customize the map sheets. Speaking of punch-outs the set also includes punch-outs of the mechs included in the set. This is great for beginners that haven't amassed a larger BattleTech miniatures collection but want to play larger battles. I picked up the Battletech Clan expansions for the miniatures. I fell in love with Battletech through Mechwarrior 2, a few of the old novels, and the short-lived Virtual World centers in the 90's. I've been excited to paint up some battlemechs since then, but the models were always kind of fiddly and expensive. These new packs from Catalyst feel like just what I've been looking for.The minis are well-built, well-detailed, iconic omni mech designs. They're larger than your standard 32mm miniature, but not TOO large, and they come at a decent price-per model. They're packaged well enough that even this minor issue isn't common on the ones I got. I haven't started painting them yet, but the surface feels like it might not need a primer.I didn't think I would actually play the game much, as I don't often have time for longer games these days, but the Alpha Strike rules variant looks promising. There's a free quick start for that play style available on Catalyst's website.
Great start to a game that has been around for more than 45 years. I played it when I was younger, and than again in Military as a hobby. Now I am getting back into it and this is a great way to get some mechs to put on table. I just wished it had one other mech in that and that was the Vulture/ Mad Dog mech. Other than that, great purchase.
Has my fav mech the Madcat. Would have preferred 2 mechs instead of the elementals so the package required me to take the good with the meh (taking a star off for that). These minis came fully assembled. Maps are paper and if you just want the minis this saves you money
The surprise hit in this box for me is the Inner Sphere star map. Its impressive.For the price, its a no-brainer. A full star of clan mechs, 2 points of Elementals, and an expansion to the GoAC book that adds the clan tech rules including Elementals. Keep in mind this does not include the game rules on how to play. You need to get the GoAC set, Battlemech Manual, or Total Warfare book for that.
