The PowerBeats are the first Beats headphones I ever purchased. I got them for the gym after having issues running with my Apple AirPods. The sound quality is awesome and call quality is great. However, the ear hooks are not incredibly comfortable for me and I do not like the feel of the wire after wearing true wireless headphones for so long. I have to say this has been the least worn pair of headphones in my home and several hundred dollars that just sit in a drawer now. The three various pair of AirPods stay in rotation depending on the activity most days. However, I liked the sounds quality enough and continued to have enough issue with the AirPods that I purchased a pair of over ear Beat Solo3 headphones. Those are fantastic and work perfectly for my needs.

The worst pair of Earbuds I ever bought. I bought these about a month ago in store (somehow 4 years out of date according too the manufacturer I just called). They're already falling apart or were damaged from the manufacturer because the sound quality is low among other things.. I notify Google products and apparently they do not stand by there products because after washing about 30minutes of my time on the phone they still offered to do nothing; and then went on to try getting me to send them back so they could charge me again. I do not suggest buying this product they will leave you looking and feeling stupid. I will be writing many other reviews as well as reaching out to merchants to advise them not to put this junk in there stores.!

This led me down a road of purchasing quality headphones for the years to come. I made my decision to purchase the Powerbeats 3 based on their build quality, sound quality, long lasting batteries, and exceptional Bluetooth range. The Powerbeats 3 are marketed as fitness headphones which means that one of their best qualities is that they will stay in your ears, no matter how much jumping, running, or moving around that you do. This is accomplished with a rubberized hook that extends up from the top of the headphones and wraps around your ears, essentially locking them into place in your ear canal. The buds are at an angle to the headphones, which make them fit into your ears comfortably, and at least in my ears make a solid seal which blocks out outside noise. I find that when I wear them even without any audio playing the ambient noises are greatly reduced in my ears. With music playing, I cannot hear the outside noises at all. A similarly rubberized band connects the two ear pieces, which I wear behind my neck. The built-in remote sits on the band just under your left ear, allowing for volume control, and moving on to the next track. The buttons are pronounced, and easy to use without being able to see them. On top of the left earbud is a flush power button that is easy to use and provides a satisfying melodic tone that informs you when the headphones are powered on and connected to your Bluetooth device. The Bluetooth range is exceptional as well, far outperforming the range of Bluetooth devices I’ve owned in the past. With the Powerbeats 3 I can leave my phone in my bedroom and walk throughout the downstairs of my home without losing signal. This equates to about 35 ft range, including through several walls. When I am working outside, I have been able to go up to 75 ft away line of sight without losing signal.Compared to the previous Bose headphones I owned, the Powerbeats 3 headphones have slightly decreased sound quality, but that is to be expected since they are different styles of headphones. The Powerbeats 3 have high amount of bass to them due to the battery powered drivers built into the headphones. I think this is due to them being classified as fitness headphones, as many people working out like to have loud, heavy bass music going to pump them up and motivate them to work harder. The audio isn’t drowned out by the base though, but rather has full, and rich sound that is just heavier on the bass side. The volume isn’t quite what I’d like it to be, as sometimes I’ve attempted to turn up the sound, and found it lacking at the top volume. This has only accounted for maybe 2 or 3 percent of the time I’m listening to them though. I often listen to piano music on these headphones while working on my homework, and find the piano sound full and rich, leaving my completely satisfied with the sound quality. One way that these headphones completely outclass much of their competition is with the battery life. While many of its competitors sport a battery life of around 6 hours, the Powerbeats 3 clock in at a whopping 12 hours, meaning I can go days without having to charge them. When needing to charge, they have a quick charge function that will give an hour of play time off only a 5 min charge. To charge the batteries completely takes approximately 1 hour. On the bottom of the left ear bud there is a micro USB slot for charging. Even though the charging port is left exposed and uncovered, the manufacturer claims that it won’t be damaged by sweat, rain, or moisture of any kind which is important for fitness headphones.Overall, I am a big fan of these headphones, and would definitely purchase them again. The superior build quality makes me believe that they will last for years to come, as long as I can keep them in my possession and don’t lose them. Although rarely on the quieter side, the sound quality is excellent, if not exceptional for the type of headphones they are. It is incredibly convenient to be able to leave my phone sitting in one place and be able to walk around my home, or the gym and be confident in the Bluetooth range. I would recommend these headphones for anyone wanting a pair of quality Bluetooth earbuds in the $100-$200 range.

These head phones would have been perfect if I didnt have a toddler at the time that would always pull on them. These were perfect for me during my transportation time to and from work (about 40 min each way). I would have them connected to my ear but when I had to talk to someoneI would remove one or two and have them around my neck. I would always forget to take them off immediately when arriving home. I believe he was around 1 years old during this time. So when I carried him to greet him he would see them and grab them and somehow was able to break itNot once but three times! My wife encouraged me to purcjase another one which I did. So far, he has only managed to break them twice but has not damaged the sound. After a few months I decided to get the beats studio 3 wireless headphones from Dr. DRE.
I purchased these earbuds when the price first dropped to clearance. They fit well and I never had an issue with them moving or falling out of my ears. They were fairly comfortable to wear. The sound quality for these earbuds are not worth the original $200 price tag. The sound is very thin with little treble and mid range frequencies but decent bass especially for earbuds. There was no good way to adjust the balance either so the listener is stuck with the sound these give. The battery life on these is sufficient enough to get through multiple one hour workout sessions. I only needed to charge mine once per week.Personally, I returned these after a couple of weeks not due to the sound quality, but because they kept disconnecting from my phone while my phone was ... MoreI purchased these earbuds when the price first dropped to clearance. I only needed to charge mine once per week.Personally, I returned these after a couple of weeks not due to the sound quality, but because they kept disconnecting from my phone while my phone was in my pocket during outdoor walks. For some reason, my set of these earbuds just wouldn’t stay connected when my phone was in my pocket. There was one other time the earbuds disconnected from when I was listening or music that had softer sections. During those times the earbuds seemed to not recognize audio being played and went to standby/turned off.Overall, if you are looking for a set of earbuds that are decently comfortable for extended uses and will stay in your ears, this would be a good set to look into. The sound quality isn’t nearly as good as other earbuds I have heard but they are sufficient enough for workouts. At the clearance price of $89, these earbuds are a good buy.The issues with my set disconnecting from my phone was deal breaker for me but that might have been a faulty set. The set my brother uses (purchased at the same time of my purchase) have worked fine without disconnecting from his devices. Just be warned when considering these that disconnections with your phone in your pocket may occur.
I typically don't write reviews but, I bought these headphones in November because I was tired of constantly replacing headphones with a chord. I decided not to purchase the protection warranty because I had beats in the past that held up very nicely for a few years. After a month, the headphone's wire was exposed so I taped it up with electrical tape because when I work out I didn't want water or sweat to ruin the exposed wire. Then around march the earbud cone kept falling fell off so many times that one day I just lost it permanently (it comes with a few extras but I didn't bother putting another one on). In June I noticed that the right earpiece was breaking but it wasn't that bad so I figured as long as I took care of it, it would be fine. And, earlier this ... MoreI typically don't write reviews but, I bought these headphones in November because I was tired of constantly replacing headphones with a chord. In June I noticed that the right earpiece was breaking but it wasn't that bad so I figured as long as I took care of it, it would be fine. And, earlier this month I noticed another part of the wire was exposed so I put another piece of electrical tape on the exposed part. Then, today after I finished working out I put my headphones away and noticed that the volume piece/button ripped off. I found the missing piece, and put it back together with tape on it so that it doesn't fall off again. And the earpiece I mentioned earlier is about to fall off too. Now it seems like the entirety of these headphones are covered in tape.I'm not sure if I just had bad luck but I'm really disappointed with this purchase. The Bluetooth pairing and connection works great so I gave it two stars for that, but again, I find that the quality is very poor for the price, it hasn't even been a year yet and they are falling apart...so I could only give it two stars.
Let me start out by saying I owned two pairs of PowerBeats 2. These were the best wireless headphones I had ever purchased. Very durable, and extremely reliable, and I used heavily for working out on daily basis. I recommended these to everyone I knew. So logically I invested in the PowerBeats 3 when my PB2's microphone and buttons started to give. The market has since exploded with Bluetooth wireless headphones, and the price points have become increasingly competitive, so I expected Beats to really step up PB3 and really improve on an already great brand. And honestly, they did not. While the PB3 has a 12 hour battery life (compared to the PB2 of 6 hours, and that's a huge upgrade), this is probably the only really pro I can assign to the PB3. While the PB3 has a 12 hour battery life (compared to the PB2 of 6 hours, and that's a huge upgrade), this is probably the only really pro I can assign to the PB3. The PB3 construction right away I noticed is cheap in design, and Beats clearly cut corners on their product. Some notable flaws in the PB3:1. Construction - The PB2's had the microphone and volume buttons encased in a rubber protective layer, and this was great because it offered more protection against dirt, sweat, and general wear and tear. The PB3's microphone and power buttons are just straight plastic instead, and besides no longer offering better grip and protection from outside elements, feel flimsy from the get go. Also the PB2's had a tiny rubber flap that allowed you to seal off and protect the charging port. The PB3's does not have this, which is really baffling (how much does a 1/3 cm piece of rubber cost to make???). Again, if you are working out, sweat, water, etc. can easily get in there and if the charging port breaks because of undesired elements slipping in there, well then the headphones are completely useless.2. Sound quality- While the sound quality is good on the PB3, it's honestly no different then the PB2. After numerous times listening to the same song (I would switch between the headphones to compare), I never felt the PB3 sounded any better. If anything there were a few songs I felt sounded much more full on the PB2.3. Price - The PB2 I got on sale for $99. I've been able to get the PB3 for about $129 on sale up to this point. The PB3 are flat out $200 with no sale, and that's really pushing it considering what even $100 and under can get you nowadays with Bluetooth headphones. I definitely don't feel the quality of the PB3 warrants the price tag.4. Functionality - I've had the same phone from the time I was using the PB2 and the PB3, and only with the PB3 have I experienced a few times very odd boot loops (the headphones keep disconnecting even when the battery is full) where I've had to reset the PB3 completely (p.s. you can do that by holding the power button and down button for about 10 secs). Never had that happen with PB2.5. Carrying case. The PB2 was zip case, with a durable outside shell and offered ample room. The PB3 is a huge flop; it's just a piece of rubber with a slit in the top to slide them in (no zipper), and it's extremely cramped with the cord in the case (I use my old PB2 case to carry my PB3 in, thank god I didn't toss it)TLDR: You can't market your headphones to be a top competitor for higher quality workout headphones and then take these cheap corner-cutting steps that degrade the product, especially from one generation to the next. And that in my opinion is exactly what Beats did. PowerBeats 3 have taken a step backwards from their predecessor, and with the increased competition (and better price points) from rival brands (Bose, JBL, etc.) I would advise looking elsewhere for a better quality pair of bluetooth headphones for your money.
After a bad experience with Plantronics, I stumped up the cash for a set of Beats - a little nervous about the durability reports but I have very difficult ears to fit that won’t hold normal earbuds so I need an over ear type and options are less in this space. The advertised battery life was the biggest deciding factor for me, as it out strips any comparable model I had come across.I’m pleased to say that, so far (4 weeks), these are the best fitting and most reliable Bluetooth headphones I’ve tried. The fit is very secure and nicely tight. The Bluetooth has not even stuttered, let alone dropped out paired to my iPhoneX (I’m not sure how much the apple to apple connection adds to the mix).I will say that the headphone shape may not suit all ears - the ear ... MoreAfter a bad experience with Plantronics, I stumped up the cash for a set of Beats - a little nervous about the durability reports but I have very difficult ears to fit that won’t hold normal earbuds so I need an over ear type and options are less in this space. The advertised battery life was the biggest deciding factor for me, as it out strips any comparable model I had come across.I’m pleased to say that, so far (4 weeks), these are the best fitting and most reliable Bluetooth headphones I’ve tried. The fit is very secure and nicely tight. The Bluetooth has not even stuttered, let alone dropped out paired to my iPhoneX (I’m not sure how much the apple to apple connection adds to the mix).I will say that the headphone shape may not suit all ears - the ear canal section is at the leading edge and angled, which seems very effective. But immediately behind that is a round section about the size of an air pod that is VERY hard plastic and it presses against the cartilage of my ear, creating a pressure point that gets sore/aches. It seems to be lessening, so I am hoping I will just get used to it. It would be nice if Apple made this a rubberised coating in the future. The cable is short and relatively inflexible so is not too prone to twists. I know that true cable free is all the rage, but I think this design is a better bet as it’s just one less thing that can go wrong (I’m looking at your Plantronics). The battery life is true to claim, as closely as I can tell, which is fantastic. There isn’t an app to manage the device, which surprised me a little, so there is no option for tuning the sound or anything like that. Therefore, there is no battery indicator, but I worked out that you can add it to a battery widget on iPhone, which works well. However, I’m assuming no firmware updates are possible given there isn’t an app, so bear that in mind.Lastly, I think the sound quality is quite good for an ear bud style device with small driver and the volume level is excellent. The device control is quite high up near the ear but pretty easy to use. With Iphone, the setup was super simple, just turning it on and holding it near the phone paired it automatically.Provided it proves durable, I am very satisfied with this product.
I never leave reviews for products, but being that these are so terrible I figured I would pass my knowledge on to people thinking about buying these headphones. This product could be the WORST purchase that I have ever made concerning technology. In 2017 I purchased a pair around christmas time for myself to use while working out. I'm not an avid workout enthusiast by any means, but I do like to work on cardio from time to time on a stair climber, treadmill or rowing erg. Over the summer of 2018 I was working out with these for maybe the 5th time and they completely shut off on me. I'm not an avid workout enthusiast by any means, but I do like to work on cardio from time to time on a stair climber, treadmill or rowing erg. Over the summer of 2018 I was working out with these for maybe the 5th time and they completely shut off on me. After talking with apple support, and searching online forums, I found out that this issue is a common problem with the powerbeats 3 and I would have to send them in. Being that they were under warranty, I sent them in and they shipped back a new pair (pretty sure it was just a refurbished pair). They worked fine until today. After a 25 minute workout on the stair climber, they shut off once again and exhibited the same habits as the time before. Once again they would not turn on and had a solid red light while charging. After talking on the phone with apple, I told them my issues and that they were the same issues that I had on the product before. They offered to run the same route as last time, FOR A 100 DOLLAR CHARGE. Apparently they had fallen out of warranty by 59 days, and there was no extended warranty on the refurbished pair. After talking with them, there was no way that I was going to pay that price for them just to send me another refurbished pair that will have the exact same problem.I've come to find out that after being marketed as "sweat resistant" and advertised by athletes Lebron James, Serena Williams and many more athletes during workouts that these headphones can't withstand any sweat, coming no where close to being "sweat resistant" as advertised. Apparently working out for 15 minutes on a rowing erg and 25 minutes on a stairclimber is too much to handle for a pair of headphones that I bought for 99 dollars (199 dollars retail price). After all of these years with apple products (3 iPhones, 1 mac, countless pairs of headphones and apple products) I'm ashamed to say that I may have bought my last apple accessory product. Never in my life have I been so upset with a product that I bought, to the point where a company that has had thousands of complaints against this product fails to take accountability for this piece of trash product that they sell. It is even to a point where individuals around the country have filed class action lawsuits against apple concerning this product (a simple google search will show you the lawsuit). If I could give this product a 0 star review, I would. I write this review in hopes that other individuals do not make the same mistake that I did. While the sound quality was good when they were working, this product belongs at the bottom of a trash can, not on the shelves of stores across the world. Feel free to do additional research as well when thinking about purchasing this product (once again, a simple google search).I will be taking my money to Bose products.

From zoning out on my work, to working out at the gym music is one of the most important mediums in my life. When looking for a good pair of headphones there are some important aspects that are a necessity for them to be perfect for different aspects of your life. The Powerbeats 3 hit a homerun on such things as water resistance, sound quality, comfort and practical usage. Many of the aspects of the Powerbeats are perfect for the active and athletic user. I myself am constantly in the gym either lifting or playing basketball. The water resistance aspect is perfect for when you're getting sweaty after a good workout! Another great aspect for an active user is the over the ear grips that don't allow them to fall out like headphones. This is especially useful if you are playing any sort of contact sport that involves jumping or sudden movements. That paired with the wireless bluetooth capability minimizes the use of cords. Cords are one thing that can always get in the way when lifting weights. They at times get caught on machines, free weights, your arms or other protrusions and it can really become a pain. The bluetooth capability is also useful for playing sports because it allows you to set your phone away from you and out of your pockets allowing for more freedom of movement. Lastly and most importantly we get the overall sound quality. One thing that Beats has done so well as a brand compared to many competitors is the level of bass and quality in their headphones. This is the number one most important aspect to me as I would not enjoy headphones if I did not enjoy the sound of them. This area is where the PowerBeats really prevail over everyone else. The base is deep and full of the appropriate amount of vibrations without draining out the vocals of any song. These headphones are best if you listen to Hip-Hop, pop or electronic music but will be satisfactory for every genre. The only area of improvement needed for the PowerBeats 3 is the overall volume of the headphones. They tend to be relatively quiet compared to other brands on full volume and for a active user you use that volume to get the most out of your workout. The positives most definitely outweigh that small negative though and that is why I give the PowerBeats 3 a 5 stars out of 5! These headphones are perfect for anybody with a active lifestyle that loves to enjoy music as the workout.
