The Biolage Ultra Hydra Source four piece set gave me the ever elusive cascading and glossy Commercial TV locks that I had spent so many years pining over. After years of attempts I had given up my glossy hair dreams, relegating the vibrant silky strands to that of TV Magic, never to be obtained by mere mortals like me. After my third day of using the Biolage conditioning set I **had achieved the unachievable.** This set gives you a fool proof way to obtain Hair that is high shine, glossy, soft to the touch, full of bounce and life, and much more manageable. Then apply the Deep conditioning treatment and let soak for as long as possible. Rinse again with cold water. Let hair dry until damp, then work in the Biolage Leave in conditioner liberally. Gently brush it out and finish by either air drying until damp or blowing out your hair. While damp I braided it (or used a no-heat curling method) and left it overnight (by far my favorite method). Once a week double up on the deep conditioning treatment and the leave in. You will wake up with beautiful waves or curls that are high shine and glossy while remaining soft to the touch and much more manageable. If you have to pick two out of the four make your selection based off of your hair type. If you have hair like mine go for the conditioner and a treatment. If you have thick hair that is dry and lifeless I would get the shampoo and one of the Treatments.

*See update re Palm Oil Below!*I was able to try both this product for very dry hair and the Biolage HydraSource Detangling Solution for Dry Hair and my reviews for both will be similar because I'm comparing the two. I have thick, course hair that is very long (below my butt) and it can get crispy dry in the winter. I'm going to start by saying I would rate this actual conditioner 3 stars. It has a good consistency and spreads well through my long hair. It also smells amazing with the signature Biolage scent. Unfortunately (and the reason for 3 stars) is that it never seems to rinse out completely and my hair always feels sort of heavy and coated even after it dries. I usually wash my hair about every 3 days but when using this conditioner I feel like it looks so greasy I have to wash it daily which is annoying. I find there's a fine line between moisturized hair and greasy hair and this is on the wrong side for me. I actually preferred the Detangling Solution for Dry Hair because, while the texture feels similar during application, it rinses much more cleanly and doesn't leave my hair feeling so heavy and greasy. My hair was pretty easy to brush wet or dry with either one so I can't say either was actually better at detangling. All that said - I'm knocking another star off because I looked all over the internet as well as emailed AND called the company to ask them if their Palm Oil is sustainably and ethically sourced and they completely ignored me. I waited ages to write these reviews because I was hoping for a reply but it's been 2 weeks and I've heard nothing back. Because Palm Oil causes massive deforestation I would never support a company who uses anything but sustainable sources and wouldn't buy this product. Will update if I hear back from them but I'm doubtful. **I did hear back from Biolage and they do use sustainable Palm Oil so changing my review to 3 stars for the actual conditioner! Here's the reply: Thank you for contacting Biolage. Since 2010, 100% of our palm oil purchases are certified through RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil) standards.

This is the only conditioner that works for my hair currently. My hair tends to be on the pickier side and has a hard time softening with a lot of the conditioners (with clean-ish ingredients) that are out on the market now. I think it’s going through something because it’s also been super dry as of late. This conditioner softens my hair well, has a nice thick consistency, and nice smell. My only complaint is that the bottle is a bit hard to use/squeeze out the conditioner, I wish it had a pump but the content is well worth it.

If you have long and/or dry hair, you need this conditioner! I have an oily scalp, but my hair is long, past my butt, so the mids-ends get pretty dry. As you can see from the photo, I've gone through quite a bit of this conditioner. I use it every wash. It has great slip and leaves my hair tangle-free and super soft! I never recommend only using conditioner, a leave-in conditioner and a hair oil are very important for maintaining soft, conditioned, healthy hair. Especially if it's long, dry, or damaged. But a good conditioner, like this one, is a great start! Highly recommend!
was super excited about this Vox Box! I have extremely dry and damaged hair from a few too many bleaches too close together to go from magenta to bright turquoise colored hair in a short period of time! The ingredients are ingredients. I'm not one who is super concerned with ingredients; I'm more of a "does it work?" kind of person. The initial smell of the conditioner is similar to the shampoo smell of Sweet Tarts candy but with a strong floral perfumey smell. It's a little overpowering for me but it doesn't linger in your hair. I was actually able to use a normal amount of conditioner, whereas I'm used to using twice as much as my hair typically sucks up anything I put in it immediately and I have to use two-three times the product. I was actually able to use a normal amount of conditioner, whereas I'm used to using twice as much as my hair typically sucks up anything I put in it immediately and I have to use two-three times the product. When I used the product without the leave-in balm or deep treatment, my hair was slightly less dry than it normally is. I've been using this product since I received at the end of May and I'm happy with the results! I do feel like I need to use a clarifying shampoo occasionally as after a few weeks of this system, I felt like my hair was flatter than normal even when I'm not using the extras on it. This really doesn't keep me from recommending it though as a good clarifying treatment is good anyways! I actually feel like I am using less product on hair to get the same results as I previously was using! Makes my routine a bit quicker! This is a product I would definitely recommend for those with dry and damaged hair!
I’ve been using this product for over 20 years now. Started when I was perming my hair and my stylist recommended it. Although the formula has changed over the years, it’s still is one of the best conditioners for my hair. I’ve even turned my daughters onto it and they both love it. You only need a small amount, and it always maintains my hair silky smooth, non frizzy and non-oily as long as you don’t use a lot of it. Over the years I’ve always colored my hair, weaved, permed, etc and it still works best with any treatment. It only comes in one size, so my only con would be I wish they would have a smaller size for travel. I have straight to slight wavy hair medium to long length.
To start, my hair is extremely healthy. My natural color is silver/gray. I don't use any color/dye. I normally do not use conditioner.Due to our hard water, I had a malibu done, and was told to use a non-protein, deep conditioner after. This was the product recommended.I must say I was shocked at how well this worked! It did not leave my hair greasy looking, which is one of the reasons I rarely use conditioner. The scent is not overpowering. It truly did the job it was supposed to do.
I wrote a review for the matching shampoo as well but I have been a loyal customer to this specific line of hydrasource shampoo and conditioner for 10 years. I have no idea what the heck Biolage did but the formulas have definitely changed. They keep telling people nothing has changed with formula and it's just packaging but that is not correct because my hair has always looked so soft and hydrated. Now after purchasing in the new packaging my wavy hair is so limp and dried out and my scalp hurts and is very itchy. I am not sure what to even try next since I used these products faithfully but it is such a disappointment that they would mess with products that had so many loyal customers. If you have color treated hair that is on the dry side due to blow drying, curling, straightening, etc, this is your “go-to” conditioner. My hairstylist recommended this product years ago, and it has been my go to since.I would have bought it from them, but they never have it in stock.I couldn’t believe it when I found it on Walmart.com and the price was a steal for this product. Why do I recommend Matrix hydrasource conditioning balm?- it conditions like no other conditioner I have used- it makes your hair feel luxurious-your hair feels healthy and shines.-it dries like I just stepped out of a salonHowever you MUST USE IT CORRECTLY.After you wash your hair, I wash mine appropriately 3 times a week and dry shampoo in between, apply this and finger pull it ... MoreIf you have color treated hair that is on the dry side due to blow drying, curling, straightening, etc, this is your “go-to” conditioner. My hairstylist recommended this product years ago, and it has been my go to since.I would have bought it from them, but they never have it in stock.I couldn’t believe it when I found it on Walmart.com and the price was a steal for this product. Why do I recommend Matrix hydrasource conditioning balm?- it conditions like no other conditioner I have used- it makes your hair feel luxurious-your hair feels healthy and shines.-it dries like I just stepped out of a salonHowever you MUST USE IT CORRECTLY.After you wash your hair, I wash mine appropriately 3 times a week and dry shampoo in between, apply this and finger pull it through the hair.Leave it on at least 3 minutes, then rinse.
The care and shipment of the product was 5 stars. The item was packaged well and shipped on time. The product, on the other hand, was horrible. First off, idk if biolage seals their products (doupt it), but this was not sealed.I remember biolage being one of my favorite products to use on my hair. I only was able to purchase it so often as it was a bit out of my range as a teenager, but I enjoyed their products.Idk if biolage changed their ingredients, but I really did not like this product, nor did I like the shampoo that I purchased from another retailer.
