Decent fire pit for the price

I got this fire pit a week ago and have had a few fires with it and cooked with it. I bought all the accessories the heat shield mat, bbq lid, griddle, LED light, and case. The quality is what you’d expect from a mass production fire pit. Metal seems a little thin but I’m sure a lot of that is to keep the weight low for portability. The outer coating seems decent in visible areas but a little light in other areas such as the underside and ash opening cover. Cooking on it was good I used charcoal briquettes and the heat seemed even across the grate and it hovered around 300-350 degrees. None of the food stuck to the grate and it cleaned pretty easily. Overall the system seems to work as described, just expect some wiggle room on the grate, griddle, and lid, not exactly the fine precision you’d except from a more expensive stove. I looked into other multi purpose fire pit / cooking combos and it was much more pricey to get what this company offers for half the cost. The motor rattles and vibrates like crazy on turbo but seems to be pretty quiet on all other speeds. The carrying case is worth the money and seems very durable. I love that i can keep everything in the case bundled up together including a wood splitting axe and fire starter kit. I’ve been using Ferro rods with fire starter putty and have had no issues getting the fire going. Would recommend for anyone looking to cook and campfire for a small group like a family of 4.

I bought this with an eye to backyard bonfires and bringing it camping in the summer. Tried it once in the backyard with charcoal briquettes, as we didn't have firewood that would fit inside. It produced a quick, decent fire. It is easy to clean, and smokeless. The pit is super light and has a chamber on the bottom you can open to wipe all ashes out of the pit. It is very easy to keep this pit spotless and move around. The handles do not get hot during while the fire is lit making it easy to adjust the placement of the pit while lit. The pit is mostly smokeless. I also recommend getting the accessories with it, mainly the fire mat and fire poker.

I highly suggest keeping a hatchet with you to break down wood to small pieces so air flow is easy to control. Although the size makes it easy to move around having a bit bigger of a chamber to add the wood would make it easier to control airflow. The biggest issue I have so far with this pit is the noise that is created by the fan. The natural hum of the fan is not bothersome but as the fan is set higher, the pipes that introduce the air to the fire begin to rattle if the pit is not perfectly level on the ground. A bit annoying but not big deal.Overall love the pit but not sure if the love is due to the price I got it for.

Great Small Fire Pit, minor issues
7 November 2022

This firepit is great for when you want your kindling to light your fire reliably, as well as getting the most heat out of our fire without too much smoke. There were three main issues I had with this pit:The included grill warped on me for the first use. Only use the grill when you are cooking, and over a low flame or embers. It does largely depend on how you build and maintain your fire, but you will still have smoke. It is noticeably less smoke, but far from smokeless. The enamel finish had some noticeable flows on my unit when I received it. Not major and not enough to really return it over, but I would expect better QA for a $300 item.

Great product, with one caveat.
26 September 2022

It's a great product, much like their original stove, but there's one catch. We overlooked the fact that unlike their original stove, this one does NOT generate power. The fan unit actually needs to be externally charged, rather thelan the other way around and serving as power source. That disappointed us when we realized it. We're keeping the Firepit anyway, but it's not quite the off-grid tool we were hoping it would be. I've now read the company's explanation for omitting the TEC charger, but I still wish they had included it. We'll probably just take the Firepit and one of their stoves, and charge the pit from the stove. Apart from this one surprise, we're happy with the product.

Noisy fan; app doesn't work on current Android OS
3 April 2023

The BioLite FirePit+ is a convenient fire platform that seems to be well constructed. It contains fire well, and I feel it is safer than building a fire on bare ground. However, it still produces noticeable smoke, even with fully dried and aged wood. Except at the lowest fan setting, it also produces enough noise to be somewhat annoying to those around it in a quiet environment--like the serene outdoors. At the highest settings, there is even a noticeable squeal. (Its most significant competitor has no fan and makes no sound at all.) The somewhat rudimentary BioLite app for Apple OS works on the latest OS version for iPad, despite being 4+ years old according to the App Store (as of 31 March 2023). However, the BioLite app for Android currently found on the Play Store was last updated in May of 2018 and does not install on the current version of OS (March 2023), resulting in an error message that says states it was made for an older OS version. Although somewhat gratuitous, Bluetooth connectivity is an advertised selling point, so this limitation in operating platform should be made clear in the product description.

Love this little fire pit. It is super easy to handle/carry even for me. The size is small however the fire is very enjoyable for several people thanks to the 360 view. It also produces a nice amount of heat.I have the carry bag, mat and the poker made for it. I am a 63 yr old female with long term back issues. I usually set up camp alone. We have learned that the flames can be controlled by increasing or reducing the fan. The flames will get quite big if you feed it. We quickly lowered the flames to protect our vinyl ceiling on the front porch. The slide in the bottom makes emptying it truly easy. We have only used this twice here at home, however I look forward to using for camping. For my body this is Much easier than building a fire on the ground in a traditional camp pit. I highly recommend this to anyone. ( Especially those off us needing to make things easier on the body) Wanting a truly portable and versatile fire pit.

When the fan is turned off, which it can during a session, the smoke builds. The BIG difference with this Fire Pit - the HEAT is available to those seated around the unit! So much BETTER that with a SOLO or Breeo where the heat just goes up and away, see ya - heat... wa, wa, whaa!Oh, yah... I pair this with a Lodge 24" cast griddle and cook til I explode. I do NOT require a tripod to cook, the griddle is SUPER flexible with the top of this 'Fire Pit', it supports whatever I can place on it. If I need to stoke the pit, I simply slide the griddle out of the way, slip in a piece of wood and replace the griddle. A simple pivot works well, too. The 'Fire Pit' came with a grill, but I think the thin wire the grid is fabricated from is kinda chincie... The grill would be better not included or upgraded to something more robust. The Pit has a trap door on the non-fan end of the fire chamber were ash can be dumped out while still burning. This is not necessary as this thing burns efficiently, meaning completely - very little ash remains after a session.

Man has tamed fire. This is so easy to use it feels wrong. The pit itself is built well. The folding legs are a bonus, making this surprisingly light fire pit even more portable. It holds plenty of fuel to get going and stay going for long nights of grilling and relaxing. Speaking of grilling, the top grate slides easily so you can add more fuel while grilling, mess free. Did I mention the handles stay cool so you can move your fire at any time? Seriously awesome. The jet pack is wonderfully simple; press power button, connect to app via Bluetooth, and go. Very well designed all around. Only complaint is the rattle of the pit when the jets are on high, but hey, small price to pay.
