I bought this B&D Powerfile for working on both wood & metal.On the first "project", I was tidying up the wooden frame of a chair, and I used the Powerfile to get to all of the niggly little areas and tight radii, where it worked really well. I have also used it to shape the edges of brass & aluminium plate, again it works really well.I have various grit belts, changing over is very straight forward & quick. Add this to the wide range of speeds available and the Powerfile allows fine control through to fast removal of material. Having all of the hard work done by the Powerfile, I can concentrate on achieving the end result I am after.This is a very useful and capable tool, that I thoroughly recommend.

Works great i bought it for grinding welds flat and cleaning metal for welding on my old Ford. It gets in to tight spaces better than an angle grinder and it's not as loud as an angle grinder so easier on the neighbours. I've also used it on wood and is very cotrolable so as not to knock to much material off. Also it's cheaper than the same model at Machine Mart.

They snap quickly and/or wear out fast. if they lasted <5 minutes a belt, you'd be doing very, VERY well. Spring the extra few quid for zirconia (blue) belts. They often have cross-woven backing that doesn't snap easily and lasts +3 times longer than the cheapos...

After all the product is unique it can do jobs that no other toll can.. it is versatile and has long cord, it removes material very fast and can go into hard places.. and its dust collect chamber works pretty good(only for wood) The bed part is that it makes more noise then a bloody grinder and I hope that mine isn't defective.. the lowest speed is already very high. it comes with only 1 attachment out of 3! lastly if you fail to remove dust collector and work on still the metal will destroy the dust collector and you are screwed..
Great value for the money. Saved me hours of filing. Would recommend it to anyone wanting a power file. Initially takes some getting used to but once you know what its capable of it's easy to use one of the most useful bits of kit in my tool box
This is the second one I've owned as they're good value for the money. The belts have a tendency to jump off occasionally & eventually the rubber on the end will wear off but they're priced accordingly.
I WAS SUPRISED BY THE REMOVAL OF MATERIAL USING 120 GRIT BELTS.SANDING DOWN A 70 YEAR OLD OAK BENCH THAT HAD BEEN OUTSIDE AND DUE A REFINISH. BENCH ALMOST GOOD AS NEW.
Very pleased with this sander - you need to practice first as you can take a bit too much off if you are not very careful.
for a do-it-yourselfer it is an indispensable tool, it saves time and makes it possible to make precision work on the metal and the wood, the plastic
fantastic product ,that works well ,saves time ,instead of hand sanding awkward shaped motorcycle parts, I have found this tool so quick and useful ,the old suzuki is 47 years old and fairly rusty.. it can do underneath a motorcycle tank easy , sanded my kickstand in less than than 2 minutes ,I am now thinking of lots more jobs to do with it ,sanded my friends lawn mower deck repair , before and after welding , as a bracket broke of , sorry I did not buy one 40 years ago !!reasonably quiet compared to air sanders , it works well for me , remember to put belts on direction of travel , arrow on side case helps , you figure it out ,it will work great on timber, I have not tried as yet ,
