This thing is AWESOME and the perfect size for making two to-go mug teas in the morning. Very pleased with purchase. I looked around online for a good price on this and Wayfair beat everyone!

Beautiful pot but doesn't work for me

This teapot is well crafted, and it is beautiful to see the tea beneath the glass. However, it doesn't work for my needs. It is a sort of french press set up, where you put the tea in the basket, then press the plunger to stop the steeping, as the bottom part of the basket is solid. The problem is that when you pour the tea then the liquid that was otherwise at the bottom of the basket is also poured out, so the bitter dregs join your tea. I have had great success with Chatsford pots in the past but wanted to try something different, but I think the Chatsford pots work better as you take the leaves out immediately. Of course you could use this one in that way but then there is no lid, as the lid and plunger are inseparable.

Best teapot in the world!

This teapot is the best way of making your morning cup of tea, if you are a person who does not like stewed tea. The plunger locks the tea into a compartment at the bottom of the cassette, which means that you can leave the tea there and come back to it later, with no ill effects to the tea. I highly recommend this teapot!

Misleading information about this product
15 December 2023

I have nothing against the product, but the information description about this product on elgiganten web site is misleading. It says that the product has a stainless steel seive, but it's a Plastic one. It's mentioned twice on the product yet what I received is the plastic seive. So watch out of what you order.S

Nearly perfect steeping!
9 August 2020

I work for a teashop so am particular about my steeping. I found this to be perfectly suited for producing an unadulterated experience of the tea thanks to the glass. It is a big win that there is no plastic involved. Though, the stretchy buffer around the steeping basket is an exception; nevertheless, the leaves do not come into contact with it. I find the steeping basket to be excellent in catching particulate due to the closed (non porous) base of the basket. My only small complaint is the the stretchy material has been cut by the metal edge of the basket and now has a tear. Still very functional and unparalleled in its sleek Bodum style.

Not that happy..
22 January 2024

I bought this teapot especially for herbal and Chinese teas (like Crysanthamum), where I like to see the leaves and to control the amount of steeping.ButThe teapot mechanism is supposed to allow you to press the tea leaves down when they are sufficiently steeped, sort of like a French Press does with coffee. However, it really doesn't work unless you've already poured out a majority of the contents. THEN, to add insult to injury, if you remove the tea strainer, you can't put the top back on as it only fits inside the strainer, so it falls through (in contrast with the design of the standard tea pots from Upton which I have thoroughly enjoyed). So.. no. I don't like this teapot or its design.

Not very good really. by
3 May 2018

Not at all impressed with this. The main fault is that the perforations in the filter do not go down far enough, so the only way to get tea to brew is to make a full 1lt pot every time, which is very wasteful if one only wants to make a couple of mugs/cups. It does make a reasonable cuppa if the water is poured into the tea very slowly, but that's all the steeping it will get if only half a pot is being brewed. Secondly, the plastic filter expands in hot water !!! and consequently the 'plunger' falls down to cover the tea leaves (haven't used it with tea bags but it would be the same), again curtailing the brewing process. Good idea, let down by insufficient forethought. I would not recommend.

Pleasant Aesthetics but......
28 November 2022

Reasonable size for tea pot I would say for a party of 4. Good aesthetics with a pleasant cornflower blue but I think the infuser and blue plunger top (all plastic) appear to have passable quality. Both infuser and blue plunger "float" and hence don't sit firmly as a result. The last point is the reason for the 3 star instead of 4.

Shattered within ten uses

I was gifted this tea press last year and have used it only a handful of times before it shattered when filled with hot water from the kettle. Otherwise I was really enjoying the quality of the tea press - even recommended it to a few friends. Disappointed that it only lasted me this long before breaking.

We love these teapots
17 December 2021

We've been using one of these teapots every afternoon for many years. Even though the old one still works well, we took the opportunity to buy a back-up while it was on sale.My wife's English, which perhaps explains why afternoon tea in our house is almost a sacred ceremony. It's usually accompanied by a shared reading of a book - well, I read aloud and my wife crotchets. The teapot sits on a teapot warmer in a small box, which is covered by a hand towel, keeping the tea hot for hours if needed. The tea press ensures that the tea doesn't keep brewing.Too much information? Sorry, please see the review title.

With this tea maker you can determine the strength and aroma of your tea yourself. Once the tea has reached the right strength, simply press down the tea leaves with the French Press System and separate them from the water. The extra large stainless steel filter allows the tea leaves to develop their aroma even better. The Assam teapot by Bodum combines design, quality and functionality on the highest level. By the separation of filter and water, the leaves can be brewed a second time. The nicely shaped teapot is made of temperature-resistant borosilicate glass. The lid and handle are made of plastic, which guarantees a secure hold of the jug. Ideal for black, green, white tea, fruit tea etc. This jug holds a volume of 1.0 litre.
