My previous Bosch 190 multi tool failed, so I looked for a replacement and this 220 model seemed to be it, but the tool locking system has changed, meaning all my old blades, sanders etc. won't fit. Part of the product description refers to tool-free blade change, but it is still an allen key locking bolt to hold the tool in place - not my idea of tool-free!!!!Other than these niggles, the machine itself is fine, seems slicker to use than the 190.

Only had for two days. Cut out two small pieces of wood around window sill and just kept cutting out. Blade wore down quickly. Will be returning for refund. Only chose this model because of name and lighter to hold than the rest

Great product with many uses, however the blades can be a-bit fiddly to put on and they don’t seem to last too long for the price. Although the multi tool as a whole met my expectations and achieved what I intended on using it for.

This is a fantastic power tool, got it having never used one and I am very pleased with it! It represents good value for money as unlike almost every other similar product this one comes with a range of bits.Being Bosch the quality is great! It makes neat cuts and is incredibly versatile. It's unique ability that separates it from a jigsaw, for example, it its ability to plunge cut. This is very easy to do as it has a nice soft start and cuts into the wood well. With a fat blade it doesn't wander too much.As a sander it is as good as any detail sander, I prefer it to others as its nice to hold and is quite well damped so it can be used effortlessly for sustained periods of time.
I bought this for a lot of door frame sanding and the way I was using it on the first day caused the delta plate nylon hooks to deform due to the heat generated so the sanding papers were not held secure. I thought maybe I was using it too aggressively and bought a new plate for the second day's work. Even with care it is too easy for the plate to overheat and deform. Also the additional sandpaper does not seem to hold well but maybe that is a paper issue rather than the plate. Time will tell but so far I am not impressed with the sanding aspect of this tool as the main use would be sanding. If the paper securing was more consistent it would be ok.
Didn't read the description properly then when I got home found it is Starlock blades so my old blades wouldn't fit. However, it comes with 2 blades included, 2.4m of power cable (not 10m as indicated in specs) and pleasantly surprised it comes in a case whereas specs said it didn't.Used this to cut fence board nails (after buying a blade suitable for cutting hardened nails and screws) to avoid causing too much damage to the timber. The gearbox gets a tad warm after a few minutes but I switched it off occasionally anyway to shift the removed boards. The soft start feature is good.Good price in Screwfix as well.
Love it, the quick and easy blade changes and the solid starlock system is a plus. No longer having to be happy bodging projects as accurate and does want you want. It didn't come with a wide range of accessories, but these are pennies and will get them as required. Some reviewers don't like being limited to starlock, but it gives a solid connection, no slipping blades, or snapping when over tightening. Discovered Axminster tools about 4 years ago, having previously relied on a well known DIY store, and every purchase from a lathe to simple hand saws has been a delight to use.
This is a well made multitool, nice weight and easy to use. Just beware it uses STARLOCK tools, it does not accept the older OIS tools. Starlock is a more elegant fitting, but there are limited manufacturers. It isn't a big problem, but it a bit confusing as Starlock tools can be used on older multitools.
Used this for a number of projects, just really versatile, especially when working in tricky areas. Great for under cutting skirting, cutting out damaged floorboards where access is tricky and for cutting out to fit around piping etc. Have had for over a year and still runs fine after a few chunky projects. The hook and loop sanding pad wore out pretty quick would be my only criticism.
I’ve gone thru 2 of these now. Great tool, very practical, but both times the screw for changing blades stripped the threads. I don’t do them up stupidly tight, and am always super careful not to cross thread; after a number of changes the threads just wear out through use.Recommend getting one with proper blade changing bit, not this one with a screw.
