I bought the first generation without the Hammer 10/2001>>>Still works great although batteries are a little weaker but can still drive a 3" Deck Screw>>>Batteries are $75/tax & this drill was $150 on sale for $99>>>Like buying the battery and getting the drill for $25>>>It's a no brainier... I have over a 1000 ft old wood fence and use TorxHead Deck Screws>>>my drill is the #1 tool next to my Table Saw & Compressor

We use only Bosch 18vMakes things easy. Only have 1 type of battery and charger to keep in trucks. Bosch has only been great tool. Save money, buy recon tools.

Purchased this product about a month ago. Needed for a home remodeling project where we were drilling for Tapcons into basement concrete floor. This is a good basic hammer drill, though I wouldn't recommend for a large job. Power was a bit lacking and it took several minutes to drill each hole (possibly a more powerful hammer drill could have done the job much quicker). Also, the battery life was pretty short. I only could get 10 holes drilled on a single battery charge. The battery however did re-charge fairly quickly and there is a battery gauge on the back of the battery pack so you can keep an eye on your charge level.

Pros: Good drill I plan to use nearly every day for many years.Con: One of the reasons I bought this drill was because I was so impressed with a much sturdier 1/4" impact driver I had purchased earlier. The charger that came with this unit is considerably lighter duty even though it looks the same as the charger that came with the impact driver. I think this charger will charge the larger 4 A-Hr 18V batteries but the better charger rejected the 2 A-Hr battery that came with this drill. Disappointing but not a show stopper. I just have to keep both chargers out when one should do.
I saw this one on the clearance rack and thought for the price I really couldn’t go wrong in trying it. I had previously found some other Bosch tools which I was really impressed with that shared the same batteries. I had tried this on some general household tasks which it did well on. Also used it to build my new kitchen table and installed some shelving. To this end it did well and the trigger had good control unlike other tools I’ve tried.Last week I thought I’d put it to better use rebuilding a larger fence on the property. I put it in lower gear to give it more torque when driving into the fence to reattach panels and maxed out the torque adjustment. To my surprise it started to have trouble with removing and reinstalling 3 1/2” star drive stainless steel ... MoreI saw this one on the clearance rack and thought for the price I really couldn’t go wrong in trying it. I put it in lower gear to give it more torque when driving into the fence to reattach panels and maxed out the torque adjustment. To my surprise it started to have trouble with removing and reinstalling 3 1/2” star drive stainless steel screws. Thought that was weird as the other drill I had used to add them in with didn’t have the same issue?Thought it might be because the battery was at about 75% and dropping quickly under load. I still think the battery with this one is going bad or is bad as I feel the performance is not like my other ones which feel much stronger and last far longer.Decided to switch over to 2 1/2” star drive screws with which I didn’t get much better performance either. I was only able to drive about 35 screws before the performance really started to drop and I wasn’t able to fully drive even the 2 1/2” screws on the top rails of the fence.I wasn’t sure if this was just because of the battery or the drill but I’ve been really disappointed with the performance of it for such a simple job. If I hadn’t gotten this one on such a discount for clearance I’d probably return it. It’s alright for smaller household -jobs but clearly nothing even more tasking than that like adding screws to a larger fence.I have many different drills but this is clearly the weakest brushless one I have. My other Bosch drill that I got for a bit more blows this one out of the water hands down along with my older brushed model from hitachi. My brushed hitachi one is listed as having a bit less torque than this one on paper but in practice it has way more power than this Bosch one.
It's a Bosch. It runs great, takes care of any job you need it to. I mean, there's really not much more to say on it! I love all my Bosch stuff.
Lightweight, compact, with a flashlight! Very best drill I've ever used. Works for days and days. When you drill screws non stop, The next battery is wait for you all charged up. No down time. This is my 3rd Bosch drill in 18 years. All 3 still work and original batteries are just fine.
I was skeptical of buying a battery operated hammer drill because drilling masonry has been a pain in the past (granted with regular drill). Got this a set deal with a bit set which is what swayed me to try it as I don't currently have a full size portable drill: so low risk. Charged full real quick, so turnaround will be easy if needed. Had to drill 4 post base holes (5/32) for some Tapcon screws using a Tapcon masonry bit into our concrete patio. It drilled them like butter, I was just blown away on how easy it was. Had the post base mounted in a few minutes. Battery still showed full bars. My first foray with Bosch has been great!
I bought this as a gift and then used it with my friend. Well-made but smaller than the competition, which is fine with both of us. The price was below the competition as well ($100). It felt good in the hand (big hand). I was not used to the torque, but careful pressure on the trigger maintained control on inserting long wood screws and removing them. the bag is a nice touch! Look at this drill, especially if you are using a drill over your head where weight matters.
I run the bosch platform and love it. I thought for 100 bucks it would be great to get a brushless hammer drill but the quality is not there. the hammer mode is not that good. Definitely would not recommend to anyone who would expect more performance then a ryobi
