If you must have this now then buy it before prices continue to go up, otherwise wait until Bose comes out with a better version. Don’t purchase off Bose’s website as the battery is not included and sold separately. I have always been pleased with my Bose speakers; this is the first time where Bose didn’t exceed my expectations. I also recommend the backpack and cover for this to help protect the speaker.

There is a lot to like about the Bose S1 Pro from its lightweight 13.5 lb adaptable form-factor, durable construction, and its built-in 3-channel mixer. This specific version does not include the rechargeable lithium-ion battery pack, reducing the upfront cost and weight of the speaker, but limits you to spaces where you can plug the speaker into an outlet 6 feet away to use it. A battery can be purchased separately or you can opt for the bundled version for on-the-go use. Thankfully, a battery is trivial to install in the bottom of the speaker beneath a panel attached with two easy-to-remove screws, if you decide you need this feature, and I like that this design allows you to easily replace the battery, if needed. There’s a chunky handle inlaid on the top of the speaker so that it sits flush with the body, allowing you to carry and move it around easily. This speaker can be used in a number of orientations including upright, horizontal, tilted back, and stand mounted (35mm), each providing a different sound profile that automatically adjusts EQ to achieve optimal projection. There are rubber non-slip pads on all the surfaces that you can use when the unit is freestanding. While it seems a small bother, the logo on the front of the speaker can be rotated 360° in 90° intervals (counter-clockwise only) in order to match the orientation of the speaker as well. This speaker has 3 input channels, 2 XLR and one 3.5mm AUX/Bluetooth combo channel. The two XLR inputs also accept ¼” jack inputs and can be used with any powered input device, like a microphone, mixer, looper, or instrument, for example a guitar or keyboard, but neither channel offers phantom power so would not be suitable for condenser microphones that require it. There are individual volume controls for each channel, though only the XLR channels have EQ adjustment dials: treble, bass, and reverb. Additionally, you can enable ToneMatch for mic or guitar input, which applies additional presets accordingly like a low-cut filter. Setting ToneMatch to ‘off’ is equivalent to line level input. The PA system can pair with a Bluetooth audio source by pressing the Bluetooth button for several seconds to enter pairing mode. Note that if AUX input is used, Bluetooth input will be overridden even if a Bluetooth source is paired with the speaker and transmitting audio. When paired with a phone, you can receive notification sounds through the speaker, but if you receive a phone call, ringing and call audio will not be played through the speaker. With my Android phone, I had to download the Bose Connect app in order to pair to the S1 Pro, though I was able to directly pair an iPhone to the speaker without the app.The Bose Connect app does offer more functionality for you to manage the speaker’s settings like paired Bluetooth devices, enable ‘Party Mode’ to sync audio output to other Bose SoundLink Bluetooth speakers for multi-speaker playback, toggle on/off ‘auto-off’ (to save battery power), and check remaining battery life (if installed). If you do have a second speaker paired in Party Mode, you can subsequently switch to ‘Stereo’ mode for left and right track separation on each speaker rather than playing the same audio in unison. You can also daisy chain a second S1 Pro with a ¼” TRS cable using the Line Out port, however, it is not possible to achieve true stereo output with this method. In terms of audio quality, the sound is very good. While mono only, it’s clean and balanced with a decent amount of bass reproduction; however, I felt channel 3 lacked a little bit of treble depth both over Bluetooth and via AUX input, and unfortunately it’s the only channel that doesn’t allow for onboard EQ adjustments, so you’ll need to set the EQ from the source device when possible. The other thing to keep in mind is that at high volumes, it is possible to experience some clipping and distortion, and the LED next to each channel’s volume dial will display red when the input signal exceeds the limiters, indicating the volume should be reduced in order to protect the speaker from damage and improve sound quality.Performance of my dynamic microphone with the S1 Pro was awesome. The audio is clear and very crisp, but keep in mind the ToneMatch Mic mode is optimized for close usage with your mouth nearly touching the mic. The reverb controls are also nice for creating a sense of space and dimension without muddying the sound too much, depending on the experience you’re going for. The PA system is perfect for both solo and duo singers/musicians. We love using it for karaoke since we can have two mics attached for duet numbers and the music input on channel 3.The one thing I don't recommend the speaker for is pairing over Bluetooth with a video source, for example to watch video on a mobile device or stream audio from a movie projector because there is a miniscule but noticeable (to me) amount of lag/delay between the audio and the image on the screen when used this way. It's just not designed to be used as a soundbar. Overall, the Bose S1 Pro is a powerful, compact speaker with great sounding audio designed for PA system use. It has a few onboard essential EQ controls and 3 flexible input channels which are expandable, so whether you are a professional musician, performer, or a casual home user, you can start small or incorporate it into a larger setup to fit your needs.
If you are a performer (indoor or outdoor), auctioneer, gym instructor, doing live presentations or just like throwing parties - this PA speaker if an amazing solution for you! It's portable (handle on top), only 15lbs, can be battery powered for up to 6 hours, can be deployed in a number of different positions - such as standing flat, standing angled up, on it's side angled up and pole mounted. Third channel can be either a Bluetooth input or 3.5mm jack (headphone jack) input with it's own Gain control. Each Gain control knob has an LED that would blink red if gain is set too high (clipping).Additional connections are - TRS (1/4") output of the mix (for daisy chaining speakers), micro USB socket for service and of course AC power IN (100-240V 50/60Hz). Speaker has a battery compartment where you can install Bose specific battery which would power the speaker for up to 6 hours.I really like this small speaker's sound a lot! Bass is there even though it's just a single 6" woofer, mid range and highs are super clear and pronounced. Definitely give it a listen if you are in doubt!Speaker does connect to the Bose Connect app for firmware updates and ability to pair 2 speakers for the "Party Mode". There is no EQ control in the app. What could be improved? There is no master volume knob to control the whole mix, knobs are not lighted in any way so you do need some light source to see what they are set to, no mute/unmute or select buttons either (yes, I understand it's not a mixer). There is no automatic ducking (reduce music volume when you speaking, for example for a gym instructor). Battery replacement requires a Phillips screwdriver so it's kinda hard to do quickly. And the last one - there is no any power output, no phantom power ability for a condenser mic, no USB charging sockets for your phone, no power for a wireless system, speaker can power itself only.
The Bose S1 Pro PA System has some good ideas, but leaves out the necessities. The S1 Pro doesn't offer much out of the box, you get the speaker and a power cord. This version does not include a rechargeable battery, so you’ll need to plug it into a power outlet. The speaker has 3 different channels, 2 – XLR inputs and 1 Bluetooth or AUX input. The first 2 channels have knobs to adjust the base, treble and reverb, but the Bluetooth and AUX do not. There is also an output to be able to connect to another S1 Pro using a ¼” TRS cable. You can also connect 2 speakers together wirelessly through the Bose connect app, to make them play in left and right stereo mode.I connected the speaker via Bluetooth to my phone to test out the sound quality. The first thing I notice was the lack of bass at certain parts of the song and overpowered bass at other parts. It needed to be tuned, unfortunately there is no option to adjust the bass or treble in Bluetooth mode so what you hear is what you get…Aside from the bass being way off, the sound quality is decent, not their best by far, but decent enough. There are many times that the highs and lows tend to blend in together, leaving a dull sound quality, especially songs that had a lot of bass.Next, I tested this out as a PA system using an XLR mic. I switched the tone match to mic and turned it on, only to find that the vol is incredibly low. Even at full volume, it never got that loud at all. The clarity was good, but the vol was just too low. Needless to say, I won’t be using this speaker for next year’s spelling bee.Overall, I am disappointed with the Bose S1 Pro. The build quality is good, and I like how it has 3 different resting positions, but it misses out on the most important parts of a speaker. The lack of tone controls for Bluetooth is a big issue for me, as well as the lack of connections that it offers. I wish they offered more than just 2 – XLR inputs as the mic and instrument options. I also think the speaker fails as a PA system in terms of volume level. With all the options out there, I would probably choose a different PA system.
Hosting raging parties, practicing my karaoke, or rocking out with my guitar has never sounded better, and louder, thanks to the new Bose S1 Pro floor monitor speaker designed for just that. In any case, this thing was designed just for us audiophiles who love loud, clear, crisp sound even if you’re not entertaining.Out of the box, the S1 was very easy to set up; simply plug it in with the included power cord, download and set up the speaker in the Bose+ app and you’re ready to rock out… or listen to smooth jazz via a Bluetooth connection and your smart device, plug in that acoustic guitar and a microphone for you ... Having been a loyal and repeat customer of anything Bose, it is a simple set up and easy app to control even for those new to their products. I would like to see more options like syncing streaming services and EQ settings in the app similar to the Bose Music app but clearly that’s not what this speaker was designed for. The app does give you the option for Party Mode which you can connect multiple other compatible speakers to.On the speaker itself, which has a convenient handle on top and was surprisingly lighter than other PA monitor speakers I have used in the past, you will find two combo-XLR inputs to connect your instrument and/or microphone. For those musician/singers, Bose uses dedicated ToneMatch processing and Auto EQ to ensure you and the speaker sound the best. There are gains for each of these inputs which let you adjust the reverb, bass, treble and volume. There is a smaller 3.5mm auxiliary input for any other audio devices such as smart phones or MP3 players with a headphone jack which also has a volume control. There is a dedicated line out to connect to other systems. The S1 has built in sensors that know how you have the speaker set up, whether straight up, on its side, elevated or tilted to ensure sound is being distributed appropriately. For those that would like to listen to music or perform where there may not be a power source, Bose added a rechargeable battery option to allow portability. The Bose S1 Pro monitor speaker is a great option from one of the best names in the business. Offered at a reasonable price considering the specs, options and sound this speaker creates you won’t be disappointed.
This is my second Bose S1 Pro.One is great but a pair just takes the system to another level.Small and portable and packing quite a punch, what’s not to love. The battery power and bluetooth coupled with Tonematch presets makes this system so versatile and perfect for small to medium gigs.Sound quality is exactly what you’d expect from Bose, crystal clear, even at full volume.I used my pair of S1 Pro’s at a gig recently where a sound limiter is installed, in the past using my old system it triggered and shut me down several times which anybody who has been in a venue with a limiter will know how annoying that is, but with these babies I just carried on playing through the red and I had a room full of people with a good forty odd of them on the floor. The place ... By far the simplest and best sounding mini portable PA out there. For bigger gigs I bring out the BIG Bose system, but a lot of smaller things can go off with just this little beast. For more intimate private events, backyard/outdoor parties, and personal use - it packs quite a punch. And with bluetooth, you can let others take over the music (this can go either way...).It's even great for solo performers and I've had a singer/songwriter use it with an acoustic guitar/instrument mic + vocal mic and it sounded amazing for an outdoor performance.DJ parties indoors with under 50 folks? Perfect. Probably more sound than you'll ever need unless you do really large gigs. I'll probably get a 2nd one for true stereo and a bit more BOOM.An outdoor wedding reception on ... Everyone was blown away by the sound-for-size aspect.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, events are becoming smaller and more intimate which means that bulky equipment is often no longer necessary. Bose has always been known for producing high quality sound from small devices and the S1 Pro is no exception. Though it is quite small (13" H x 9.5" W x 11.2" D) it produces powerful audio that is crisp and vibrant (even at impressively high volume). The speaker is easy to carry thanks to the built-in handle and at 15lbs it is easy to transport or take on the go. The S1 Pro is primarily plastic though the build quality still feels top notch. Unfortunately, there is no IPX rating for dust, water, or impact resistance making it best suited for the indoors (or dry conditions). The field of sound that is produced is slightly ... The S1 Pro is primarily plastic though the build quality still feels top notch. Unfortunately, there is no IPX rating for dust, water, or impact resistance making it best suited for the indoors (or dry conditions). The field of sound that is produced is slightly narrow, so it doesn’t impress quite as much in large open spaces. For any event larger than 50 people, you will want at least two speakers and for outdoor events - additional speakers are an absolute must. (...And, of course, two speakers are needed for true stereo sound.)There are 3 audio input ports - although sadly an RCA input is not included. Instead, there are two ¼" / XLR inputs as well as an Aux Input (which is either Bluetooth or a 3.5mm jack). Each source has Reverb, Bass, and Treble controls as well as a light to show input level - making it easy to adjust on the fly without reaching for the wrong knob. What I find most impressive about the S1 Pro is that Bose has taken time to perfect all of the small details. The speaker can be set up in 3 positions each with a specific purpose in mind, the knobs are rubberized, the handle makes it easy to carry, and even the logo can be rotated so that it is always right-side-up even when the speaker is on its side. The speaker is small enough to mount on a wall, or mounted on a speaker stand via the 35mm pole cup.I believe that the Bose S1 Pro is especially well suited for home musicians, singers, and for professional vocal amplification / presentations. If the rechargeable battery is added (which costs an extra $99) the speaker becomes even more useful as it has superior sound for its small size. Bose has truly hit a home run by making the S1 Pro perfect for nearly any use. Plug in a mic and your guitar and jam, or use it to party! It's perfect either way!Cons:No IPX rating for dust, water, or impact resistanceNo RCA inputNo EQ customization either on the speaker or within the AppBluetooth connection requires a mobile appRechargeable battery is sold separatelyBattery compartment cannot be opened without a screwdriverDoes not include a cover (instead the S1 Pro Slip Cover is sold separately)Narrow Sound Projection
