The audio is clear and very crisp, but keep in mind the ToneMatch Mic mode is optimized for close usage with your mouth nearly touching the mic. The reverb controls are also nice for creating a sense of space and dimension without muddying the sound too much, depending on the experience you’re going for. The PA system is perfect for both solo and duo singers/musicians. We love using it for karaoke since we can have two mics attached for duet numbers and the music input on channel 3.The one thing I don't recommend the speaker for is pairing over Bluetooth with a video source, for example to watch video on a mobile device or stream audio from a movie projector because there is a miniscule but noticeable (to me) amount of lag/delay between the audio and the image on the screen when used this way. The first 2 channels have knobs to adjust the base, treble and reverb, but the Bluetooth and AUX do not. There is also an output to be able to connect to another S1 Pro using a ¼” TRS cable. You can also connect 2 speakers together wirelessly through the Bose connect app, to make them play in left and right stereo mode.I connected the speaker via Bluetooth to my phone to test out the sound quality. The first thing I notice ... MoreThe Bose S1 Pro PA System has some good ideas, but leaves out the necessities.The S1 Pro doesn't offer much out of the box, you get the speaker and a power cord. This version does not include a rechargeable battery, so you’ll need to plug it into a power outlet. The speaker has 3 different channels, 2 – XLR inputs and 1 Bluetooth or AUX input. The first 2 channels have knobs to adjust the base, treble and reverb, but the Bluetooth and AUX do not. There is also an output to be able to connect to another S1 Pro using a ¼” TRS cable. You can also connect 2 speakers together wirelessly through the Bose connect app, to make them play in left and right stereo mode.I connected the speaker via Bluetooth to my phone to test out the sound quality. The first thing I notice was the lack of bass at certain parts of the song and overpowered bass at other parts. It needed to be tuned, unfortunately there is no option to adjust the bass or treble in Bluetooth mode so what you hear is what you get…Aside from the bass being way off, the sound quality is decent, not their best by far, but decent enough. There are many times that the highs and lows tend to blend in together, leaving a dull sound quality, especially songs that had a lot of bass.Next, I tested this out as a PA system using an XLR mic. I switched the tone match to mic and turned it on, only to find that the vol is incredibly low. Even at full volume, it never got that loud at all. The clarity was good, but the vol was just too low. Needless to say, I won’t be using this speaker for next year’s spelling bee.Overall, I am disappointed with the Bose S1 Pro. The build quality is good, and I like how it has 3 different resting positions, but it misses out on the most important parts of a speaker. The lack of tone controls for Bluetooth is a big issue for me, as well as the lack of connections that it offers. I wish they offered more than just 2 – XLR inputs as the mic and instrument options. I also think the speaker fails as a PA system in terms of volume level. With all the options out there, I would probably choose a different PA system.

The app does give you the option for Party Mode which you can connect multiple other compatible speakers to.On the speaker itself, which has a convenient handle on top and was surprisingly lighter than other PA monitor speakers I have used in the past, you will find two combo-XLR inputs to connect your instrument and/or microphone. For those musician/singers, Bose uses dedicated ToneMatch processing and Auto EQ to ensure you and the speaker sound the best. There are gains for each of these inputs which let you adjust the reverb, bass, treble and volume. There is a smaller 3.5mm auxiliary input for any other audio devices such as smart phones or MP3 players with a headphone jack which also has a volume control. There is a dedicated line out to connect to other systems. The S1 has built in sensors that know how you have the speaker set up, whether straight up, on its side, elevated or tilted to ensure sound is being distributed appropriately. For those that would like to listen to music or perform where there may not be a power source, Bose added a rechargeable battery option to allow portability.The Bose S1 Pro monitor speaker is a great option from one of the best names in the business. Offered at a reasonable price considering the specs, options and sound this speaker creates you won’t be disappointed.
This is my second Bose S1 Pro.One is great but a pair just takes the system to another level.Small and portable and packing quite a punch, what’s not to love.The battery power and bluetooth coupled with Tonematch presets makes this system so versatile and perfect for small to medium gigs.Sound quality is exactly what you’d expect from Bose, crystal clear, even at full volume.I used my pair of S1 Pro’s at a gig recently where a sound limiter is installed, in the past using my old system it triggered and shut me down several times which anybody who has been in a venue with a limiter will know how annoying that is, but with these babies I just carried on playing through the red and I had a room full of people with a good forty odd of them on the floor.The place ... For more intimate private events, backyard/outdoor parties, and personal use - it packs quite a punch. And with bluetooth, you can let others take over the music (this can go either way...).It's even great for solo performers and I've had a singer/songwriter use it with an acoustic guitar/instrument mic + vocal mic and it sounded amazing for an outdoor performance.DJ parties indoors with under 50 folks? The S1 Pro is primarily plastic though the build quality still feels top notch. Instead, there are two ¼" / XLR inputs as well as an Aux Input (which is either Bluetooth or a 3.5mm jack). Each source has Reverb, Bass, and Treble controls as well as a light to show input level - making it easy to adjust on the fly without reaching for the wrong knob.What I find most impressive about the S1 Pro is that Bose has taken time to perfect all of the small details. The speaker can be set up in 3 positions each with a specific purpose in mind, the knobs are rubberized, the handle makes it easy to carry, and even the logo can be rotated so that it is always right-side-up even when the speaker is on its side. The speaker is small enough to mount on a wall, or mounted on a speaker stand via the 35mm pole cup.I believe that the Bose S1 Pro is especially well suited for home musicians, singers, and for professional vocal amplification / presentations. If the rechargeable battery is added (which costs an extra $99) the speaker becomes even more useful as it has superior sound for its small size. Bose has truly hit a home run by making the S1 Pro perfect for nearly any use. Plug in a mic and your guitar and jam, or use it to party!
