Having used both the Mother’s version and this, I would say this is the one to go for. It may be just placebo, but it may be a slightly more aggressive pad which makes it much easier to lift imperfections from the paint or windshield. Overall, amazingly easy to use, but unless you have an XF Falcon, you may find the size of the pad a bit large for the intricate details of the more modern vehicle. This isn’t a negative however, just cut the sponge in half and save the other half or, if you want the best of both worlds, cut a piece 2/3s of the length and use on larger panels, and use the remaining 1/3 around mirrors, door handles and bumpers. Let's just say I won't be going back to the traditional clay bars any time soon.

This claying rubber is so easy to hold, easy use and, unlike conventional clay -- if you drop it all you have to do is rinse it in clean water (not throw it away). The finish is easy to obtain with only light pressure and there is no mess!

I bought this product to use in conjunction with Bowden's Own "Three Way" to clean a badly iron contaminated paint job. I feel the claying pad is probably fast and effective for a lightly contaminated paint surface, for my extreme case it wasn't up to the task. That's not to say it's a bad product by any means. For my particular application I needed a traditional clay bar which I used with the same Three Way lubricant which got all the spots out that the claying pad couldn't.

Not convinced. Pretty experienced hobbyist detailer and thought I might give this stuff a try as an alternative to clay bars. This stuff is quite expensive compared to clay bars and advertised as safe to decontaminate ceramic coatings. Used this exactly as per the instructions on Bowdens website with Three Way and unfortunately it caused some serious marring on the clear coat and no matter how much Three Way I used or how clean I kept the surface, it was super scratchy. Switched to a clay bar and things were a lot less abrasive and had almost zero marring. Luckily this car did not have a ceramic coating and I was about to correct the paint to apply one, which easily removed this marring. Not a huge deal but I would hate to see how this would behave on a coating, I ... MoreNot convinced. Got this after spending hours with a clay bar in the past. Tried it the other day via the instructions that suggests it can be used with Bowdens nanolicious wash. So, i washed the car and then effectively washed it again with the claying rubber. The results are great and it would be hard to be easier. So its just like handwriting the car twice and if you've ever claybarred a car before, this is a daction of the work. The actual clay bar will only be a last resort backup now. I've added a picture and the first ones just reflected the sky so well, it was hard to make out it was the bonnet so couldn't use them. Definitely worth a go.
Used this on a couple of my vehicles over the past year and am very impressed with that quality of the product. I don’t believe this product is ready to overtake my spot in the cupboard of an original clay bar as I believe a clay bar you can feel with you fingertips when you have removed the contamination, but with this product it’s more about the sound of the contamination. Furthermore I feel it takes longer to complete a car with this compared to the clay bar despite its larger size because I feel like I have to work it more. Works great with Bowdens Own three-way
Great product have previously used clay to decon paint. This is a fantastic product and got great results when used with bowdens three way to prep paint prior to new wax application. Highly recommend
We used Bowden's Own Claying Rubber Pad with the Bowden's Own Three Way Spray bottle and together they work GREAT !!The spray is simple to use, and it goes a long way - 1 bottle would be fine for multiple uses. The 'pink streaks' come out & indicate iron being leeched, well I'm no chemist & just need to trust that that's what it does.We had severe truck grime exhaust deposits built up on all upward facing surfaces ... small black dots that seemed to be collecting into the grooves & eating into our white paint !!It's only taken 6 months in this location, where trucks come into town 24/7 using their exhaust brakes !! and our bonnet & roof are full of black soot :-(Lots of elbow grease, the spray & the clay pad & we're back to clean white ... now still have to ... MoreWe used Bowden's Own Claying Rubber Pad with the Bowden's Own Three Way Spray bottle and together they work GREAT !!The spray is simple to use, and it goes a long way - 1 bottle would be fine for multiple uses. The 'pink streaks' come out & indicate iron being leeched, well I'm no chemist & just need to trust that that's what it does.We had severe truck grime exhaust deposits built up on all upward facing surfaces ... small black dots that seemed to be collecting into the grooves & eating into our white paint !!It's only taken 6 months in this location, where trucks come into town 24/7 using their exhaust brakes !! and our bonnet & roof are full of black soot :-(Lots of elbow grease, the spray & the clay pad & we're back to clean white ... now still have to add a thick layer of some sort of protective wax/polish to prevent ongoing depostits from sticking so hard.Paint is definitly smoother ... I ALSO used it on our Solar Panels, although you can't see the soot, you can feel it & being glass it's 100% smoother !
As a clay the claying rubber is on par with most clay bar products I’ve used. The size of the rubber however i found to be awkward to hold. It’s a large face which upfront is appealing however it’s also quite thin. That combination makes it hard to hold and keep a hold of, particularly when using clay lube which is slippery on its own.
Worked well on contaminated paint. Have always used traditional clay bars. I work and park in an industrial area with large amounts of paint overspray and metal grinding dust. Literally only takes 2-3 weeks before my paint feels like sandpaper. Claying rubber was was quick and easy and appears to have worked well with 3 Way Cleaner. Will be interesting to see how this affects the paint using it at least once a month. Use only very light pressure and listen and feel surface change as you use.
