The Braun Silk·expert Pro 3 states that it causes a permanent hair reduction in just 3 months. I've been using it for just over 3 weeks and can attest that I already see less hair growth just after 2 uses. The directions recommend using it once a week but I have not so if you actually do you could see more of a reduction tha I do. I have patchy growth over my knees and shins with obvious areas where the hair has not returned. It supposed automatically adapts to skin tone and automatically sets the laser to the aptimal strength but I DID have to reduce the strength due to a burning/ stinging sensation at the automatic level. It has a precision head available but mine did not come with one. They didn't seem interested in helping and told me my skin was too dark or too light. My skin is the same color all over. If it works on one spot on my leg it should work on the spots surrounding that one spot. I have tried using it a dozen times in the few weeks that I have owned it and it just refuses to zap. It did work very well on my knees and underarms so I DO believe that it does remove hair but I cannot recommend this device. I have no idea what to do about the ridiculous permanently bald spots on my legs now. Thanks, Braun. I don't think this device is ready to be on the market.

What a beautifully packaged gift!! I have tried all the hair removal products, professional and home. Electrolysis, waxing, depilatories. They are all either expensive, harsh, costly and sometimes not very effective. I love this at home use laser. It allows me not to pay exorbitant prices for laser treatments and complete them in my own home. Laser treatments are costly and they require travel to and more the dermatologist. With this tool, I can use tool weekly, and change the intensity level as needed. During the winter months with dryer temps, I lower the intensity because my skin is more sensitive. A very adaptable design for intensity and teo separate heads for different body areas. So nice to do this at home with the Braun name!!

There is also a more detailed manual that includes safety precautions, usage, benefits and the such. Everything you need to utilize this device, including the razor to prep the treatment area, is included along with a zippered storage case. I like the three treatment heads that are included: the standard for all areas, the wide for large areas such as back, legs, and the precision head for small area such as the upper lip. I specifically wanted this device for my upper Iip area, under arms and for my husband's back. I initially did a test patch on my leg to see how my skin would react and also to learn how to use this device. It is very important to shave all the hair of treatment area prior to using. I accidentally forgot to this on the test patch and the zapping of the existing hair was painful. There is certainly a learning curve associated with it such as making sure that the treatment window is pressed firmly against the treatment area and that both skin tone sensors are touching the skin. These sensors measure the skin tone and then the pre-set power will be displayed the LED Power Bars on the side of the device. White light bars signify that skin tone was detected. No lights mean no skin contact and red lights means that the skin tone is invalid; these two scenarios will cause the device not to be activated and you will have to reposition it. After learning these sensors, the usage becomes easier. I began with the sensitive mode (recommended for first time users and sensitive areas) and slowly and continuously gliding the device (recommended when using on large areas) while holding the treatment button. This produced a startling flash of light which I eventually got used to. For the upper lip and under arms, I used the precision head with the stamping method (press and release the treatment button them lifting the device and placing it onto the next adjacent spot until entire area is treated). It is recommended to follow these treatments weekly for 12 weeks then to be used monthly for maintenance. It is important to note that you must not look at the flashing light due to possibly injuring eyes and also not to treat an area more than once each week. Lastly, there is some pain when first zapping then it subsides after getting accustomed to it. I have not used it long enough to determine the full efficacy yet I am optimist.

I absolutely love this Silk Expert Pro IPL from Braun US. I don’t like shaving at all, so I’ve spent a lot of money on wax removal, laser hair removal and a variety of razors, on the market. I’ve read so many reviews for this IPL device from Braun, so I wasvery excited for the opportunity to test it out. They have created several options, based on your skin tone, to choose from. for I’ve been using mine, PL3221, little over a month now and I absolutely love this. I love that it isn’t as painful as laser or wax removal. I also don’t have to worry about ingrown hairs or rashes afterwards. I haven’t noticed a huge difference, because it takes a couple of months for optimal results. I would definitely recommend this IPL device to all of my family and friends.
