It is very well made and holds 1.7L of water. We use filtered water so we have not noticed much scale buildup, but it will occur over time. It heats very quickly with an automatic shutoff. It sits on a power base and is easily removed to pour into a teapot or other cooking device. It "dings" when boiled and shuts off automatically when removed from the base. There is a small screen filter at the spout which should be cleaned every now and then; we often forget it is there. Recommended.

I’ve had this kettle for years. A friend gave it to me second hand. It never missed a beat and finally stopped working I have no idea how old it was but I had to be more than 16 years. So when I needed another I went for the same one. Myer had a brilliant special on at the time. The kettle is attractive In The kitchen. No plastic which I love an over all a very good product. Considering its life span this kettle is also very good value. I highly recommend this product.

First I bought this model when turn on lighting in side and seeing water clearly , it was 2008 I used 10 year without any problem and gave to my son they still use it. 2017 I bought new one there was no light in side when you turn on was nt happy about it but still I am using there is no problem. Yesterday my second son asked me to have it I gave him. Today I went to store to buying as same as style but it was out of stock. I strated to read review and shock every commend and pictures. Each time quality going down I know but not I am not sure I have to buy as sam style or not. It is my favorite kettle.
After almost 2 years, the top plastic window seems to have cracked inexplicably. As it was not covered under warranty according to Breville, they offered a discounted purchase option for a replacement. Whilst this is helpful, it did leave a question mark as WHY the top plastic window cracked? Fortunately the crack was no so large as to drop pieces inside the kettle, it could potential be an issue to consider if you plan to use this model. The replacement kettle which we purchased from Breville works OK so far.
This product has worked well so far and i haven't had any problems with it so far. I purchased this product because the kettle which was the same model I had previously lasted for years but had the part that secured the on off button had partially crumbled off and the filter handle broke off when I took it out to get the last of the water out before I put it out in my garage for disposal. Also the water level indicator print came off when my mother last cleaned it one day a few years ago. I wanted to purchase this same model because it lasted for a fair few years and it looks great.
This is our third Soft Top® Pure kettle within only 4 years and the same issues keep happening. Ready to change brands now. Firstly, the plastic centre part of the lid cracks which poses a safety risk and secondly, the lid is extremely temperamental and the push button to open it jams, therefore preventing the lid from staying closed. Not happy at all given this kettle is over $100. Not a once off problem either as this is our third kettle where the same issues have happened again.
I have purchased two of these over the past 4 years - they look good, but the quality is not good.Both kettles got major cracks in the plastic lens on the top of the kettle.Both kettles had problems with the connection to the base - there is a tiny metal spindle that goes into a hole in the base. When placing a heavy kettle onto the base, sometimes this spindle will be knocked. Over time it gets pushed out of place and will not make contact. Our previous Breville Soft Top Pure lasted 6 years, while it was never the quietest of kettles it was bearable but suddenly it started making a 'snap, crackle, pop' sound similar to popcorn popping. Thinking this definitely couldn't be normal we concluded that it was finally dying. We decided to purchase another of the same model. The first boil in the new kettle seemed quieter than our old one - great, however the second boil produced the same 'snap, crackle, pop'. We immediately phoned Briscoes who confirmed that they would honour the warranty but suggested we phone Breville first to discuss the issue. So far so good! I did purchase the extended 3-year warranty in case of any unexpected problems down the road. I also have a new, extra base plate. From experience with my last "Soft Top" kettle this is what eventually stopped working.I was able to replace the base once, but unfortunately the new base unit for sale does not work with the older model ~ therefore my new purchase. My first Breville kettle did last over 10 years. So a pretty good run.I recycled the old base plate and the original kettle is now being re-purposed as an indoor container for plant water. It is still in very good condition.My only suggestion would be to keep the original base plate for sale even after the original kettle has been discontinued to help support the environment.Thank you.
