No competition - I’d buy this kettle again over any of the “ more advanced” ones anytime.

Awesome, sleek kettle!

This kettle is awesome. After about 6 months of being on the fence about it I decided to give it a try. There were some negative reviews on the website that made me skeptical. I’ve had this kettle for about 3 weeks and I love it. Boils super fast, the different temperature settings are awesome. I own several breville products and have not been disappointed so far. I purchased the simple stainless steel option and it’s so sleek and lovely. It was worth the money IMO. Not a paid review by the way.

Beautiful and Almost perfect but quite expensive

Beautiful colour, functional, quick heating but very hot on the outside. After using a kettle that doesn’t heat up on the outside for years, I have a better appreciation for it as sometimes due to arthritis I need to hold the kettle with both hands, and with this one I can’t do that without a towel. The other nitpick I have is that we have to press the start button twice if the kettle is completely off. An easy get around is to press the temp you want then press start, but we are people and we forget… and then we wonder why the kettle didn’t start lol.I still don’t understand why the price is so high though. My parents have a Breville smart kettle in the glass and stainless steel, which they got for less than $200 and it has the same functions…. Breville does it again!

We really like this kettle. Its good looking with a comfortable handle. Love the side window as opposed to it being under the handle. Pours well and sits nicely in its cradle. Keeps water hot for a long time. We like the gentle 'ding' it makes when kettle has boiled! Also like the push button to open lid, very smooth. It has a long cord which can be shortened by winding it under the cradle. Would buy again!

Excellent quality and much quieter than other brands

We were looking for a new kettle for our new home. As soon as we saw the Breville Soft Top Luxe we were immediately drawn to its elegant style, it stood out from other kettles on display and the satin black finish looks brilliant in our predominantly white kitchen. The other feature we were looking for in the kettle was quiet operation, but as we couldn't test that, we bought it on looks and perceived quality of the Breville brand. We were delighted to find, when we first used it, that it was considerably quieter than any previous electric kettle we have owned, so we are extremely happy with our new purchase.

Features and aesthetics are perfect for me

There are definitely plenty of reviews online focusing on non-ideal aspects or flaws but ultimately that was true of all the kettles I looked into and so in the end I think you need to go with the features and aesthetic you want and assume that the product will work and that the warranty will cover any issues.I had seen reviews and even heard from some other people that the electronics can fail - but so far so good. It’s true that the more buttons there are, the more that can go wrong, but I wanted to see what it was like having the buttons! Not sure if I’m really using the settings properly but I like the idea of only heating to a lower temperature and getting the water quicker. It certainly doesn’t look crappy or flimsy.It is slightly heavy when full (one of the complaints in reviews) but obviously it’s the water that is the main culprit - and metal is heavier than plastic. It is also true that the water meter is hard to read sometimes - but I would usually be adding water before starting a session anyway.It’s easy to clean and to see inside so that you know when it needs cleaning. The mechanism for opening the lid is fine but I’ve had other kettles that were a bit more seamless and quick.But on the whole, as mentioned, the aesthetics and features are what I was after, was happy to splash out after my previous kettle lasted about 10 years, and so far I’m not disappointed at all.

Goodbye Old Friend

My Breville kettle has been through so many happy times, sad times and special moments.For probably 20 years it’s been my constant go to and has never let me down, quick and efficient exactly there when I need it. Reliable and constant!Having to say goodbye was like saying goodbye to a dear old friend, so very hard to do.So without hesitation I’ve got myself a new version of my old faithful to continue with the amazing level of service I have been given by my old friend. I’m sure it too will shine to the level of service and reliability I’m used too for a very long time. Thank you Breville

So Far So Good

I purchased this tea kettle in the velvet red color before the holidays because it was a really pretty color and I needed a new tea kettle. So far it's working great. I've used it several times and everything is working well. The kettle itself is plastic except for the handle and spout so it makes it light weight, The handle does not get hot when in use but the outer part does get hot so one has to be careful if touching it. The lid has been opening well, it's a soft open lid so it opens slowly. If you fill it to the max capacity it takes about 6-7 minutes to boil so rather quick. I like that the kettle itself can be lifted off the base and brought to the table. The warming button is also a nice feature. Why the Breville Smart Kettle Luxe is a must-have

This is a very solid purchase because it makes tea time a breeze! The easy-to-use interface and quick boiling function are a godsend. Plus, the auto shut-off feature ensures that you won't have to worry about accidentally leaving it on for too long. The only thing that could be improved would be the temperature control, handle grip, pour spout, cleaning process, and filter system. But hey, nobody's perfect, right? Overall, I highly recommend this kettle to any tea lover out there!

Wouldn't recommend - doesn't last

Purchased this kettle because Breville is a trusted brand and I love the look. Splurged on an expensive kettle and it only lasted just over 2 years. The kettle still looks perfect and has only had normal use but now has problems boiling, buttons light up but don't respond to being pushed. When purchasing a kettle in this price range you expect to get quality. Can't recommend, especially since they really don't/can't help when you call in to report the problem.
