We purchased this kettle after doing extensive research online for a couple of years. Safe to say it has surpassed our expectations! The craftsmanship is superb, with thought put into every element of the design; including the ergonomic handle, the temperature parameters, and the slow release lid. Some people have complained about the beeping, however this does not bother our family in the slightest and we believe it adds to the high quality wow factor. Thanks for creating such a fabulous product!

Love it. Clear kettle so it’s super easy to see water level. Soft open and close lid. Nice handle. Pretty quick to boil and like the different temperatures being able to be set so you can make a perfect white tea. Short tune played when kettle has boiled and beeps when turned on or when returning kettle to base unit. While I like this I can understand some people may find this annoying.

Highly recommend!

I never leave reviews but feel compelled to as there were so many bad reviews for this kettle which nearly threw me off making this excellent purchase. I owned the earlier model (for 4 years) which was a fantastic kettle (possibly more aesthetic in shape but heavier in weight) and when it eventually "ran outta steam" I just wanted an exact replacement. This newer model is just as appealing visually, works perfectly and is lighter which is easier on the wrist! The beeps are NOT annoying or too loud and I use my kettle many many times day and night. Highly recommend !

New model goes backwards
3 September 2021

My BKE830 glass kettle stopped heating and Breville said it was not repairable. It was only 4 years old but they were not sympathetic. I bought a BKE840 because all my kitchen equipment is Breville, and I like the temperature control and glass jug. The new BKE840 pouring spout is blocked by a steel sheet with holes in it so it doesn’t pour properly and makes a mess on the table top. The old model had a piece of plastic with holes in it which was easy to remove and throw away. Both kettles endlessly beep. Beep when you pick it up, beep when you put it down, beep when you switch it on, beep when you press any button, and beep when it finishes boiling (which is the only time I want it to beep). The new model has a louder, higher-pitched beep. Breville – can you switch ... MoreMy BKE830 glass kettle stopped heating and Breville said it was not repairable. Not actually designed to pour!
24 October 2022

This kettle looks good but is a design fail. Yes all its whizzy buttons give you endless choice as to the temp you heat/boil your water to. BUT It is hopeless when it comes to actually pouring water out! Instead of a proper spout it has designer holes like a colander. These create a vacuum when you pour and so water can't come out easily. You then have to tip it right over and it starts splattering boiling water everywhere. The only way to avoid the air vacuum is to open the lid, or only pour a thimble of water out thereby not covering all the holes over with water as you pour. But the lid, well if ypu try to open it like they say it opens, it does not open with a gentle touch like it describes, it requires a firm push, but of course if you do that with a freshly ... MoreThis kettle looks good but is a design fail. Bit like the design of this overpriced lemon of a kettle. If you are looking for a kettle that does the primary function of a kettle I.e boiling and pouring water... avoid this one.

Novelty ruined by poor design
25 June 2022

I loved my kettle for the first few months - I loved seeing the water boiling through the glass and it was reasonably quiet. The interior base quickly collects a scale build up so I followed the breville website instructions to clean it. After the second time cleaning the scale, I noticed the kettle leaked through the base into the top of the electrical base. It regularly started collecting a puddle of water in the base station. I always tried to mop it up and let it dry out before using again. One day the base seems to have gotten water and now doesn’t work. After 13 months of owning this kettle with the fault, I contacted Breville and they offered me a 50% discount on a new product, which was ironically 46% more expensive than when I bought it. Pouring spout is poorly designed
18 January 2023

I had the previous model of this kettle and it was excellent which is why I bought the newer model when mine needed replacing. The functionality of the temp settings is brilliant for me because I drink lots of different types of teas, however what lets the kettle down is the poor design of the spout making it likely you will spill water every time you pour. There is lip underneath the spout where water catches, and results in a very uneven pouring of water. I have registered my complaint with Breville. I wouldn't buy this model unless they fix the design of the spout.

TRIED TWO OF THEM - BOTH FAILED THE PUB TEST
31 January 2023

I purchased this kettle because it was one of the few which featured temperature settings (very useful for Asian style teas). Within less than two years all of the setting buttons failed, one after another. I returned the kettle to the store from which I'd purchased it and it was replaced without hesitation. Apparently there had been others with the same problem. Giving Breville the benefit of the doubt and because it was one of two with the feature we wanted, we settled on the same item a second time. A few weeks ago I noticed some crazing/star crack marks in the lid of the kettle (I'm unsure if it's glass or some kind of plastic substance). A few weeks ago I noticed some crazing/star crack marks in the lid of the kettle (I'm unsure if it's glass or some kind of plastic substance). Since it was again less than two years since it was purchased I decided to call Breville direct to discuss the problem and see if they had any way of fixing it. It took almost three days of calling, 'calling (we are not accepting any calls at this time' was the endless message) until eventually I was offered the option of leaving my number for someone to return my call. This did happen. I was told by the very polite person who took my call (he was more polite than I was if I'm fair) who told me that Breville had NO kettles of this model returned. (this isn't correct as two stores with whom I spoke said that they had indeed returned kettles of that model. Perhaps he was given incorrect information from some higher level?)He suggested that I contact the store and see if they could assist as, at that time, I was unsure of the exact purchase date of kettle #2. Discovering that it was within the two year purchase date I thought it would not be an issue to change it for a new item which would, hopefully, last longer than two years. And that would have been a good outcome from my perspective, until the saleslady told me that it didn't actually have a two year warranty. All it had was the balance of the ORIGINAL two year warranty (which equated to around two weeks from what I could determine). So there you go. Not happy with Breville who may well make that last fact known somewhere in very fine print on their paperwork but I certainly wasn't aware of it. Now, if I wish to buy another kettle with the temperature control option, I'm stuck with buying an even more expensive brand or buying another less than reliable one from Breville. I'm inclined to go for the more expensive option even though it isn't an enticing path to follow - I won't ever buy a Breville product again and as the numerous Breville items which are in my kitchen wear out they won't be replaced by that brand. What was once a byword for excellence in electrical appliances seems to be a very poor buy these days. Be warned.

This Is The Kettle For You
24 April 2022

I use a kettle for all my hot water requirements apart from showering, so a well performing kettle is very important to me. This kettle lives up to that standard. It also looks really nice on my bench. I like the glass construction as it makes it easy to fill to the exact level I require and also holds its heat longer and dulls the boiling noise. Breville engineers were very clever on two counts. 1. The design of the spout and especially the stainless steel strainer which apart from when the kettle is in full boil, traps steam so almost none comes out somehow being caught and condensed by the stainless steel strainer. 2. The kettle switches off when the desired heat is reached, however it does not alert me until about five to 10 seconds later which gives the base ... MoreI use a kettle for all my hot water requirements apart from showering, so a well performing kettle is very important to me. The kettle switches off when the desired heat is reached, however it does not alert me until about five to 10 seconds later which gives the base time to cool down so that the risk of 'burning' the base by using the kettle too soon after boiling is minimalised. I appreciate the beeping that keeps me informed of the kettle's progress as I often do other things when I switch it on. The 2400W element does mean the time to reach the desired temperature is short. The handle is really comfortable. Do I have a concern? Yes I do. I love the soft top (as they call it, but it's made of glass and steel, it's the mechanism that gives it that name) however it is mechanical and I would imagine it will be the first part to fail. I have no clue how long that will be, but given Breville's record with me I am thinking it will be a long time. For those who appreciate art and engineering, this is the kettle for you.

Very good kettle
14 February 2023

Really nice, easy to use kettle with lots of temperature options. I can easily make a cup of coffee or tea without burning the stuff, making everything taste much nicer. Easy to use and set up, easy to clean and looks really nice. Love that it’s see through too, can clearly keep an eye for scale or anything if it starts to build up. It does beep a lot - when you pick it up, put it down, press buttons, when it’s done… but it’s a soft beep, not super loud and startling. It also pours really smoothly! No splashing. I got it on sale and I also had a voucher, I’m not convinced I’d have paid full price for it as it is exy but it definitely feels luxe
