I now had 2 of these steamers in less than 3 years. The first one lasted 10 months and the current one 1yr 10 mths. Hopeless. Great while it works but clearly not designed to last. Auto 20 min steam is automatic set every time and the timer doesn't adjust downward for less steam time so there is a lot of button pressing involved. Nothing in the manual advises steaming for 20 min, it's either above or below, so who knows why they chose 20 min auto steam.

This steamer is one of the best in its field. Very easy to use and cooks perfectly. Also keeps food warm while preparing meat, gravy or waiting for partner to come home.Only have one problem which is the digital timer. The digital timer has stuffed up so you can’t read time remaining or how much time you put it on. I know the time as I’ve been using this sort of product for many years.

When I was gifted this steamer I was excited about the extra baskets, but made the mistake of giving away my prior steamer before seeing how horrible this one would be.Terribly flawed design. Water receiving spout fills reservoir from underneath, making it painfully slow to add water as required for multi-tier cooking. The "keep warm" function can't be disabled, which means when you want to leave it unattended it will keep things too hot to touch long past the chosen cook time (if cooking eggs, you can't afford to miss hearing it). Maybe the keep warm function is responsible for these things dying? If you don't keep the water topped off at all times it's likely to burn itself out. Support was useless, questioning how I'd cleaned out sediments, which I'd been even more careful about than recommended (no mention of how often cleaning was expected in instruction manual), and I had less than average sediment levels because I only filled it with filtered water. When I decided to open it up and see if any moisture damage was to blame for it breaking down, I was impeded by the manufacturer's choice to use security screws I don't own bits for, so I can't even open it without spending money or destroying it.I've used other steamers before, all far superior to this model aside from basket capacity, all still working.

I'm a real advocate for steaming meals. This product offers plenty of opportunity to steam numerous food stuffs at once. Like the divider to separate two veges. On the downside, it's not a terribly sturdy product so I don't know how long it's going to last my family but options in Australia seem quite limited these days.
Seems to do a good job so far, BUT unfortunately it is not dishwasher safe which is very disappointing these days and quite frankly a pain. Expensive and the electronic functionality is very basic, I don’t recommend the extra $ for the electronic version. Rice doesn’t cook evenly. Overall is quite slow but does do a nice job with vegetables and ‘boiled’ eggs. I do recommend it if you don’t mind hand washing your dishes and paying for it.
Bought about a month ago. Used it at least twice a week.Steam up quickly. Drip tray is well designed. So i the water tank which can be refilled while the unit is in operation. Coating on the element helps with the scale. Easy to clean. All trays can be stored within each other, make it compact for storage. It has timer and keep warm functions. Useful but I don’t really use it much. The down side is that the timer always starts at 20 mins. Most items we steam is 10 mins, so we have to push the button all the way pass 60 mins and back to 1, then 10 mins.
Fabulous Steamer : free’s up hot-place space. Can use 1 steamer tray or stack as needed. Easy to use. Wash up also easy. Can stack containers when not in use so stores away neatly
I've persevered to get used to this appliance. At first I couldn't get the timing right - THEN the trays in the bottom didn't seem to sit properly and were fiddly - THEN I littered the kitchen floor with water each time I removed the bowls. I liked the idea of keeping warm facility but I seem to end up with soggie veggies - and on other occasions the veggies were not cooked. So i thought it was me but I don't know - it's plastic and not fitting well and I don't think it's a good conductor of even steam. .So I'm thinking of going back to stainless steel- I had that before - used it every night successfully - and was always pleased with the result. So I'm disappointed.
Repeatedly makes a loud beep noise.Cleaned steamer.Refilled with clean water.Tried to use again.Same problem again.Repeated this 4 or 5 times.Picked up steamer.Threw it in the garbage.Good riddance.20 minute with adjustment only higher, what a silly arrangement.Worst breville product ever owned
I regret this purchase. It is very expensive for the quality and design of this unit. The first steamer I bought was faulty out of the box. The plastic moulding at the bottom of the unit was warped and it wobbled on the bench quite badly. The feet on the bottom didn't sit evenly. The second steamer didn't do this but had a scratch right across the front. It seems Breville's quality control is non existent. The plastic compartments are flimsy and there is no way to stack them on top of the unit as per the instructions because of the design of the overflow tray. It steams okay but not evenly. It uses a lot of water so be prepared to top up if steaming over 25 minutes.
