Best shoes for running and walking

Well I'm not running yet but maybe soon. I do use these shoes for lots of walking. I walk 4 to 5 miles daily. These shoes are the first pair I have ever tried where I was able to walk with them right out of the box and experienced no foot, ankle, or knee pain. I didn't even need to break them in, no pain. Very comfortable and responsive for my long walks. Support and cushion make these shoes extremely comfortable. Love the shop experience as well. This is my second pair,

These shoes are truly max cushion shoes. Unlike some other so called max cushion shoes, you can feel the plushness during the run. The ride is really comfortable, yet not so soft that it feels like you're running on sand. Although super comfortable, I wouldn't say they are responsive. They actually feel slower, but that's OK. I wanted these for recovery. The fit is completely different that the 19. With these modifications, the shoe was comfortable and provided good support up to around 325 miles. After that they became very non responsive. The 20, is actually very wide, even for a wide width. If you run on hills, these are probably the best downhill shoes I have ever run in.

First time buying Brooks! The shoe fits true to size and is a fantastic shoe that feels lighter than it looks. I use it for some speed work as well. I typically do have a wider foot so I would not recommend buying (unless you've tried it on) for individuals with narrow feet.

Great shoe- if you buy the right size
18 February 2023

Just bought the Glycerin 20 GTS after being an Adrenaline user for years. I’m not a runner or anything like that- I use these for all types of general fitness. Walking, spin classes, general wear. So far, these seem like a really good alternative to the Adrenaline GTS.Two things that need to get said. There are multiple versions of the Glycerin 20. Base, GTS, and stealth fit GTS. Make sure you pick the right one. And as always seems to be the case with companies today, there are inconsistencies in sizing vs other Brooks brands. I had to buy 1/2 size up compared to my Adrenaline to make these work. So for everyone saying true to size… not accurate at all.

Great, but different sizing than previous versions
26 December 2022

Great stability & cushion for wobbly runners like me! This is the 3rd pair of GTS's I've bought. But if you've previously bought a size up you don't need to anymore, they seem to have adjusted the sizing down about a half-size. (My previous pairs were 12s but I had to return the new pair and exchange for an 11.5 which is now perfect.)

Loft v3 let down
14 February 2023

I purchased the Glycerin 20 GTS with the hope it would mimic walking on air. This model is sadly disappointing from the upper to the midsole! This shoe is bigger than the previous model with lots of room in the toe box, I have a large foot 13 borderline wide and these fit me huge. I can’t imagine someone with a more narrow foot trying to swim in these. The midsole was a huge let down, if you’re expecting zoomx type performance keep looking. If you’re looking for an easy day recovery shoe I’d suggest New Balance fresh foam or Nike invincible run 3’s over the Glycerin 20. The updated foam feels dull and brick like on foot. My Pegasus 39’s have more give than these. So much wrong with this shoe, hopefully Brooks can figure things out with the next model.

Neutral vs GTS for me
19 April 2023

I have one of each type of glycerin shoes. Both shoes are great but the neutral running shoe for me is a squishier shoe. I stand in a small area for extended lengths of time and the neutral is perfect for me. The days I average 15k steps a shift the GTS is perfect support allowing me to come home and not have tired feet. I wish I would have had these shoes all my years of working in a hospital.

New Brooks
3 November 2022

So far with about 200km on these they are meeting expectations. Very cushioned yet stable shoe. Better than the Asics Keyano's I bought in the spring, which in comparison don't seem to have as much cushioning. Sizing runs true to normal US sizing vs. the 19 which ran small. To me worth the high cost for these shoes so I recommend and will purchase another pair.

Revisiting an earlier review
15 September 2022

Initially I gave these 4 stars, but after 100 miles I'm revising that to 2 stars. The main reason for the drop in rating is that the shoes seem firmer and less responsive. While walking, they are very cushy, but they slow me down when running. They are also very wide in the forefoot. So much different than the Glycerin GTS 19. They also are heavy and feel heavy, which makes the run more work.

Very comfortable shoe
23 July 2022

Decided to buy these after owning Adrenaline for almost a year and have to say I'm pretty satisfied.Though I have only done 1-2 short runs in them, but the main reason I bought them was for walking and used them for about 100km so far. The cushion and comfort is great, though for running it did feel slightly awkward. Some reviews of Brooks brand in general complain about the design and colours, that it's nothing new or exciting, but last year I decided to take the plunge and now I will gladly say I am done with exciting shoes and rather go for proven comfort from a manufacturer that has been known to provide it for a long time.
