BIG guy - Best shoes I have ever had on my feet!

I love my Glycerin GTS 20. I am a BIG guy. I was over 400 pounds when I got my first nice pair of shoes. I knew I was going to go through them fast and that was worrisome when you are talking these kind of prices. But I was steered towards these shoes, went in to a local store to try them on and fell in love with them. After about 70 miles, I was starting to get concerned that they were wearing kinda fast. I contacted customer support with pictures and they agreed with my hypothesis of my weight being a factor in the wear level, but they were not at a level where I should be concerned. So I soldiered on. I put about 275 miles on them before I started looking for a new pair. I contacted customer support with pictures and they agreed with my hypothesis of my weight being a factor in the wear level, but they were not at a level where I should be concerned. So I soldiered on. I put about 275 miles on them before I started looking for a new pair. I ended up trying on about 50 pairs of all kinds of different brands and ending up landing on Hoka Clifton 9's since they felt great inside the store. And since I have such a large foot (14 Wide), it can be tough to find shoes with interesting colorways. Hoka offered a lot so I tried them out. After about 50 miles in the Hoka's, I noticed they really weren't wearing in or getting really comfortable and I my feet were actually hurting a bit. So, I went shoe shopping again and ended up trying on a size 14 regular width of the Glycerin GTS 20 and it fit nicely and reminded me just how much I liked the shoes right from the start. So I returned the Hoka's and immediately ordered a new pair of the Glycerins. And since now I had lost a bunch of weight and I could fit into a size 14 regular, I was able to get a whole bunch of fun new colorways. I ended up going with the jadeite/drip series and I love them. They are SLIGHTLY different than all the other colors (the toe box is missing all the little vents that the other colorways have but I haven't found it to effect the shoes at all).I now have 350 miles on the original pair and they have been semi-retired to become my indoor biking shoes. I also have about 125 miles on the new pair that I bought a month ago and I am going to definitely be looking at another pair by the end of next month.I would DEFINITIVELY say that being that I weighed so much and put a lot of hard miles on these shoes, not only are they EXCELLENT for my feet (solved issues with plantar fasciitis) but they wear extremely well. Even when it is wet out, they still have enough grip where I am not sliding around. The foam sole layers have not become flat or lost their cushioning. I would keep wearing them but really, the outsole grips are pretty much at the end of their life span. They still work great as everyday shoes or like I use them on the bike, but the grip was the limiting factor.Still, I got WAY more out of my first pair than I expected. They fixed my feet issues, they were comfortable for a big guy to walk 35 miles a week in them and not cause any further issues. That was a BIG plus for me. Being that feet are so important to keep healthy while you're in the middle of a weight loss, having the right, comfortable pair of shoes that keeps you moving is key.Glycerin GTS for the win. I am just hoping they have more colors by the end of August, although I really like the new Adrenaline GTS 23's that just came out! If Brooks wants to sponsor me, you know where to find me! Haha

Glad to run again!

As a bonus, they also keep my feet nice and warm in 20-30F weather, but be weary of ice.

Good pair but try before you commit.

My suggestion to you as a reader of my review and a prospective buyer is to try the shoe for a week and then adjust the size and fit as needed. The tongue covering the lace portion keeps slipping to the side, mostly the outstep side.Your feet does expand a size during the day and depending on when you buy, try the shoe, you need to factor in the changes.Overall I am fine with the shoe though it costs $170 but I wish I had an option to buy a size smaller or snug.

I was really hoping to get more out of them maybe the 5 to 6 month range, maybe that's being delusional. I'm only wear them for work and working around the yard and basically my everyday pair of shoes. Brooks were the first pair of shoes I spent $170 on, I just wish it would have lasted a little longer.

Lightest Shoe Yet, Unbelievable Cushioning
28 August 2023

Strong durable but surprisingly light top end running shoe, that breaks in super easy. Huge step up in cushioning, and certainly a noticeable difference compared to other shoe brands, particularly through the impact from the heel and rocking through to the toe. This however does not impact stability, and still gives that great feeling pushing off from your toe, with added spring. The shoe itself required little time to break in, approx 9-12 kilometres, before the shoe had moulded to my foot. The breathable upper adds to the overall lightness of the shoe, and I could not feel much difference on cooler days vs warmer days, in overall breathability.Design is aesthetically pleasing, with a simple print, and subtle mix of colours. I certainly regret not choosing the stealthfit.Overall, an amazingly light shoe, with great cushioning, stability, a sense of feeling grounded, some simple but good colourways, that are well put together ina flyknit type finish. Highly recommend for medium to long distance runners, as you won't feel any reduction in cushioning and spring off the toe. Convinced the wife to even buy a pair!!!

The Transcend meets the Glycerin and the perfect shoe is the result. I thank you all for listening. I truly adored my Transcend and admired the Glycerin. The Transcend was perfect except the cushioning was a bit too firm for anything above 24 miles while the Glycerin was to soft for anything over 10 miles. This collection should consist of the best of Brooks in the most popular color(s) ever. After all, how do you improve on perfection — you don't. I would welcome the TRANSCEND 5 in Red. Overall very pleased with everything except durability
25 July 2023

Fit on these Glycerin GTS 20 was true to size and as advertised. Extremely satisfied with comfort, cushion and stability; even on occasional off-road trail hiking. Color, design and style were an added bonus. Mesh front provided excellent airflow and made hot weather walking much more comfortable. My feet sweat heavily and the ventilation was outstanding and added greatly to the comfort. I put probably 75% of my miles on road and 25% on trails/grass. Mostly walking, some hiking and very little running. My only complaint is the durability and after only 11 months at approx 20-25 miles per week I am having to replace them. Both toes (nearest big toes) are tearing open and tread on bottom toward front has worn flat / no or very little tread remaining.

Perfect blend of cushioning and support without going overboard

My podiatrist actually recommended these shoes to me after I had purchased them, so I knew I had made a great purchase. I plan to purchase another pair to use exclusively for running and working out. Saved My Running Career (Debilitating Achilles Pain Now Gone)
5 August 2023

Truly an Achilles saver in my case. So, over the past 8-years I have been faithful to Saucony, because these shoes are slightly more narrow (better "hug") and the original Hurricane Iso's were similarly(ish) designed to the Brooks Glycerin & Adrenalin. Fast forward today and the closest shoes they make to the old discontinued Hurricane Iso's were made so cheaply that within 2-months of use, they caused debilitating achilles tendon pain for me to the point that I was on the verge of having to stop running for the first time in 20-years. So, over the past 8-years I have been faithful to Saucony, because these shoes are slightly more narrow (better "hug") and the original Hurricane Iso's were similarly(ish) designed to the Brooks Glycerin & Adrenalin. Needless to say, out of desperation to continue my weekly jogging regiment, I frantically researched other shoe brands to help alleviate my pain and ended up settling on the Glycerin GTS 20's. All I can say is thank God for Brooks. Literally within 2-week of switching to these shoes (not even properly broken in yet), my Achilles pain is expeditiously dissipating. Every day feels a little better, and every jog feels more comfortable and more stable. I am now getting to a point where I can throttle my pace up and down, run hills, and interval train like I always have without grinding my teeth to distract from the intense Achilles throbbing. HUGE thank you to all the folks at Brooks. You saved my running career. Please continue to prioritize making top quality shoes like these. Your shoes help people, and I can't wait for the next Glycerin GTS to be launched. A narrow width in these would be nice. Just an FYI.

Sturdy but stiff

Bought these after running my first half, finishing with a big smile but a bigger blister on my foot. Got fitted at a local run store (Track Shack Orlando).Pros:Supportive - my alignment and cadence improved significantly over my old shoesDurable - I have around 70 miles on them so far, and with the exception of some light creasing, they look brand new (the tread looks unused!)Off-road running - ran these for 7 miles on the beach, between soft, hard, sideways sloped, and flat sand. The support was out of this world, and these held up amazing during that run.Cons:Cushioning - maybe just me, but they still feel very, very stiff. Landings feel pretty hard on the road for a “plush” shoeShin splints - I know this is subjective and has more to do with me and my ... MoreBought these after running my first half, finishing with a big smile but a bigger blister on my foot. I took a few extra days off, got back to it, and now about a month later they’re pretty severe, enough that I’m going to save these for soft ground running onlyBottom line: supportive, soft ground/treadmill shoe. Looking for something better for me, but these have potential to be great for other runners!
