Byredo - Tree House Candle - 240g

Wow. Firstly, thank you to the two reviewers who said this wasn't a sweet/sickly vanilla and that it had good throw - you encouraged me to buy this and are both totally right. It's so nice to have a vanilla that doesn't smell like cheap, generic body spray. It's a woody/smoky/incensy vanilla with a touch of rum. Very smooth and complex. I don't personally smell the geranium or rosemary, but I've only burnt it once so far. It burnt extremely well, very even and the smell filled my room even though it's a smaller candle. The candle itself is beautiful in all black. I usually buy diptyque candles but this was a couple of pounds cheaper so I decided to try it out. I'm very impressed and will definitely be buying more candles from Byredo!

The masculine scent of leather is balanced by the fresh scent of plums and the sweetness of vanilla. Not overly masculine or musky this scent perfect for foggy, rainy, cold nights burled up with your favorite novel.

Favourite candle of all time

I am a big candle fan and I must say this is my favourite candle ever. If you like cosy, woody scents this is for you. It reminds me of camping or staying in a cabin. Wearing jumpers and toasting marshmallows. The scent is very nostalgic to me. I think it's a unisex scent and would be a perfect housewarming gift for a couple. Even though it is very expensive it is worth the money....the scent, the heavy glass jar, the black wax....it's very luxurious without being shouty. Mine has just run out and I'll have to repurchase as I can't be without it!

Magical scent!

Love, love, love this candle. I am on my 5th jar of this candle. I feel that it should be called, "Byredo's version of a Christmas scent". It is a spicy, woody scent, with notes of ginger, cinnamon and cardamon, while the violet notes and tea leaves, make for a really interesting scent. I think this is Byredo's trademark to make unique and subtle scents - excluding Biblioteque and Safran which are stunning but much stronger. Scents that are mysterious, surprising and beautiful. When I want a stronger scent I will go to Diptyque and Cire Trudon which have been my favourites for many years, but then when I want something different and more subtle I always turn to Byredo. If you like Chai, you might also like Byredo's Symphonique candle.

Underwhelmed

The presentation of this candle is truly stunning, the sleek glass vessel and the unusual black wax. The boxed presentation is also beautiful and I loved receiving this as a gift.The initial scent pre burn is beautiful, such a wintery but yet unusual scent. If this was a perfume I’d buy the 100ml in an instant, it’s such a beautiful scent.Byredo website states:Top: Anise, Bitter OrangeHeart: Ginger, Clove, BeeswaxBase: Cedarwood, BranI get all the top notes pre burn, however the scent throw when lit is very minimal, I love byredo perfumes and I really expected more from this. I walked into a room and my partner had lit it and I didn't even notice the scent. Wanted to like this so much more

But I could barely smell it when it was lit.Pros- scent is lovely, intriguing.- black wax looks coolCons- You have to trim that wick a LOT to prevent uneven burn and tunneling. I had to trim my wick every two hours. The wick is so heavy that it tips to one side once burned and will reposition the flame as a result.- Super smoky flame. Black soot flame.- Weak throw. Easier to smell once the candle’s blown out.

smells luxurious

I really thought bougie candles were just a hype! This just smells amazing and doesn’t irritate me at all like most scented candles do. I get all watery eyed, headaches and a piercing pain in my nose whenever I’m around candles, even unlit ones. I light this up whenever I’m reading my book to feel all cozy and even after a couple of hours, no allergies! The smell is subtle and doesn’t get too overwhelming after a while. It reminds me of indie bookstores I always seek out whenever I’m traveling.
