After 5 months of use it continues to be an exceptional sounding product. Minor issues with power cable, has to be fully connected or all parts do not function. Same with banana plugs. Connections on rear of unit are not the best. Caution when dusting or moving.CD player and record player function as expected.Bought a cheap signal booster to improve dab reception using original aerial. All in all, well pleased with product and Richer Sounds.

Booked appointment for demo at Cambridge store with Paul, amp was connected up to sl1500 turntable I supplied vinyl. Sound was crystal clear well balanced with plenty of power as you don't realise how loud it is till you try to speak to your dad who's sitting next to you and didn't hear a word you said. I purchased the amp and connected it up to my bose 3000XL speakers, sl1200 turntable and sony cd. Wow, Sound is superb, crystal clear even at high volume. DAB+ radio built in is a bonus, picked up over 80 stations connected to loft aerial and signal booster. If you want crystal clear sound with plenty of power this amp is a must have for the price you cant go wrong. The amp replaced my 30 year old sony f440e integrated amp. Thanks Paul, I'm keeping the amp

Great for music from DAB radio, matching CD player and BLUETOOTH streaming. Remote buttons small and fiddly + very tricky setting up preset radio. A worrying fault developed after 9 months; although working OK there was an alarming loud noise when switching on. Richer sound (Chester) quickly arranged a replacement in an effortless operation.

Excellent sound and build quality
30 March 2023

Open box but unused and all accessories present. Build quality is excellent and looks stylish. Sound quality is first class. Rich sound with ample power to bring my speakers to life. My previous amp was 50wpc and didn't have enough power to drive my new speakers to their full potential. This amp is 100wpc and now drives them to perfection. The receiver side of this product is really good too. Much more sensitive compared to my previous DAB tuner which is good for me as my aerial is not the best. This receiver means I no longer need to have a new aerial installed. I would recommend this receiver at it's standard price and at the ebay price it should be snapped up before it sells out.

Knock cd off, no problem, until radio is switched off and cd player switches back on again.Samsung tv and DVD remotes work independently or together, why not Cambridge?

Oh, sweet sonic nectar

I bought this to replace a 22 year-old Marantz stereo receiver that had finally started to act up, and while at first I was hoping for another Marantz to pair with my Marantz 6005 CD player, the kind folk at Richer Sounds claimed that the Cambridge Audio AXR100D would be perfect for my needs. I was dubious but, after checking some reviews, I decided to give it a go, and I haven't been sorry. It weighs a ton, which wasn't expecting, but set up was easy, and I've run it through its paces with a variety of CDs, covering classical, jazz and rock and the sound is just...just wonderful. The other day I sat on the sofa and listened...just listened, and remembered a time when this is what people used to do: Actually sit and LISTEN to music, and it was a pleasure . The other day I sat on the sofa and listened...just listened, and remembered a time when this is what people used to do: Actually sit and LISTEN to music, and it was a pleasure . I was in heaven. The sound is full, warm and detailed, it's powerful and just like a lovely sonic bath. I've tuned the radio, and the number of stations, both DAB and FM, come in clearly. I've tried the Bluetooth, and that worked absolutely fine (but I still hope to explore this more) and even attached my Shanling M6 music player via the auxilliary RCA with a 3.5mm jack adapter, and it's great. I've even finally broken with tradition and bought a coaxial cable to digitally attach the CD player, something I never made use of before. The difference in sound to the Marantz is immediate: There's more whoomph, more texture, just more...SOUND. Everything feels immediate and three dimensional, even though I'm only running it through a pair of aged JBL speakers. I love my Cambridge Audio AXR100D, and I'm glad it's in my life.

Outstanding service, great product
5 April 2023

I wanted to replace my aging amplifier so called in at Edinburgh branch for advice. Three products were suggested in my price range and I was keenest on the combined amp/tuner as I did intend t replace my tuner in the future anyway. I was advised to check the compatability of my speakers (bought from Richer Sounds) before buying so, once home I phoned and ordered amp/tuner which arrived only two days later (although I live in Scottish Highlands). Set up and delighted by improvement in sound quality. An email query about connecting my CD recorder (also bought from Richer Sounds) was answered promptly.

Superb amp and CD player package
28 July 2023

I wanted to upgrade from my (excellent) Marantz MCR603 to a separate amp and CD player (I chose the AXC35), especially as the Marantz wasn't quite as good with my PtoJect turntable.Excellent advice and recommendations from the Manchester staff made me choose the Cambridge Audio amp from a short list of 3 - the in store demo made the decision easier as some of the music I tried really demonstrated the upgrade. The detail in the sound even at low levels is superb with CDs and the sound from my vinyl is much more detailed, warmer and fuller than with the Marantz. Didn't need to upgrade Monitor Audio Bronze speakers - advised to stay with them by shop manger which is typical of the professional service. Great amp/CD package!

I had previously purchased a Marantz PM6007 which was a performer, but for me personally and my ears, it had a clarity of sheen and a character that wasnt for me.So after a 100 reviews and debating what power i might need and rear connections, this unit rose quickly to the top.The big thing for me was price point to entry. And what i mean is, dipping your toe further into an audiophile like arena without breaking your bank. The glow, the warmth of this unit, its what i imagine the hadrcore Cambridge fans come to the party for.It has a kid of vintage tube like feel to the sound. Its an immersive big soundstage, it doesnt feel obnoxiously driven in the mids. Its a non fatigueing sound, provided the correct speakers are purchased of course. Its power delivery, will safely cover you for a vast amount of hungry speakers. The connections cover you for aux inputs, and for me personaly, im a fan of the 2 optical inputs for my TV and CD connections. Its solid, albeit im not a HUGE fan of the volume dial, would have wanted something more rigid feeling, but the notches in the "finger feel", they are nice.Cambridge to my ears, doesnt sound like other amps/receivers. It has an identity, a personality and it has a nostalgic presence to its sound. That is much more of what i search for.Im not a clinical audiophile, and despite being a composer by trade, my mixing ears prefer sound stage and warmth over brittle and painful highs. The DAB is a lovely touch, the front panel is simple classy and easy to live with.If i had to say one slight negative for this unit, its the internal fan. When your hard into a good session, driving those speakers and hitting up some air guitar, that amp does generate heat and the fan can be heard. But thus far, not to a volume that ever interferes with the music.Im tempted in a couple of years, to upgrade to CA's more speciality products. It has impressed me so much.If you love hifi warmth, big sound staging and a trusty friend running your setup, this might be for you.

I bought this AXR100D unit in mid January (following the failure of the 25 year old Technics unit that previously fulfilled the same role) after consulting with Stuart at the Solihull store. At this price point I can't imagine that I could have done much better. The DAB reception is a little sketchy, but I can confirm that this is the case in this part of the house even with an excellent dedicated DAB radio with aerial fully extended. The main purpose of the unit is to serve as a stereo amplifier connected to our PC in the kitchen/living area, and it has breathed glorious new life into the decade old Mission MX-1 speakers with which it is paired. I had always wondered whether the harsh tiled floor and wooden units in the room were the reason for the somewhat unsubtle acoustics and lifeless reedy sound. But no - it was a case of needing some decent (yet relatively inexpensive) equipment to sit between the speakers and source. We'd always thought the old amp was a decent piece of kit, but clearly it was time for it to shuffle off to the big carpeted room in the sky.A treat for the ears, this. Delighted with it.
